3 of them are dead or banned. 1 is from China..
The country is spiralling outta control.
With our citizens now paying > 10,000IEP per Q5 weapon they'll only be able to fight once every 100days.
This is obviously the result of us lowering the tax rate by 20%...
I mean, what else could it be?!?
I blame the Government.
voted and loled
voted and loled
You've already changed the VAT back?
I just don't unnerstand this finance thingy stuff
just give me weapons & point me at the enemy
See Emergy Maxfell 2 comments up there^
That's the UK's Financier
And he is laughing his ass off at us so hard....
He is laughing at us? With that Avatar?
Get back together Ireland!
Terrible article. I know it's only a joke, but our Finance Minister shouldn't be reacting like this.
The new 10 and 15 percent rates need to go back to 5%
SHUT IT GORMLEY! 😛
I agree with John.
Propose 25% VAT increase with no prior debate.
Fail to address the question of Security (why we went for a low tax regime in the first place).
Fail to deliver price stability measures as pronounced.
Tweak the rates again when prices inevitably rise and Congress reacts.
Blame GMs.
Use the New Ireland Bank paper to write a trolling article.
Not your finest hour Sweet.
it's hard to work when there is so many people around you who don't get it...I understand nervouse and little humor don't damage noone :😁
I'm not laughing, just confused.
and I lub this avatar (=
C'mon everyone let's get him! How dare he not act with the same etiquette as a rl Finance Minister! How dare he attempt satire, the little rascal!
btw emergy's avatar is a classic and is better than everyone else's in these comments(cept mine ofc)
also Gormley coming out with the words "terrible article" is funneh after his recent attempts.
@James
agreeing with Gormley- Not your finest hour.
That's a scathing comment you've got there James
Let's see if I can tackle your points 1 @ a time:
The discussion that lead to our 1% was an ingame article with comment section debate.
I posted an article re our financial problems 2days before the 25% proposal. Not many ppl participated, but some ppl did contact me about the issue. I gave them opinion, they responded with a proposal.
Do you believe we have a serious security risk? We're so afraid of robbery we respond by having nothing?
(1% taxes wasn't sold to the public as 'security' it was claimed to be a economic stimulus package... has the economy seemed stimulated to you?)
You expected perfect stability 3days into a major restructure? I thought I was ambitious!
Truth is prices of Q5&6 weapons remained almost exactly at pre-hike levels the majority of the period in question. Given a week or so for the treasury to accumulate a bankroll prices would have reached perfect stability.
'Tweaking' the rates had nothing to do with me. If there was a discussion regarding that, I didn't see it.
Blame GM's? We paid for 8+ MPP's in 3days. Twice what we'd normally afford in a month. I'm quite happy to take full credit for that if it's going.
This article isn't about trolling. It's about reminding ppl to actually think about things and not just believe whatever was shouted last.
Please don't make me say "I told you so" in a few months.
This new hefty moneysack will bring corruption back to our political system. Unscrupulous people will seek power in order to be in charge of this new overabundant wealth. They will syphon the money to themselves and their friends.
I truly hope I'm wrong. Unfortunately, I'm probably right.
I’m sorry Sweet. I didn’t mean to be scathing. I just feel that this article was a bit frivolous and only added to the needless sh1tstorm that has blown up over the issue of taxation. And it’s happened because of a lack of process.
Your article on this issue was one sentence long.
On the basis of a couple of opinions in the comments and some private chat, proposals to increase VAT by an epoch changing amount were put before Congress with nothing more than a couple of shouts to vote yes. The discussion only took off when a couple of us objected, not so much to the economics of it but to the abruptness of it. It’s no surprise to me that you ran into teething problems and resistance given the lack of prior consultation.
This is not to say we should go back to the anally retentive procedural wrangling of old, but there’s a happy medium somewhere between that and the implementation of Policy by shout.
Voted ,
Bhanes only out for himself
How am I out for myself.
When was the last time I spent a single IEP on anything for myself?
Roughly a year ago. (aside from minimal travel movement)
I'm not out for myself, I'm out for a strong eIreland.
Bhanes a good lad, be nice
I'm a good lad too, honestly!
We both want to see a strong and growing eIreland, we just have different visions of how to accomplish it.
Bhane is very concerned about corruption in eIreland.
I've got more faith in us. However I wasn't around for what were apparently some troubling times.
Bhane is hoping a few months down the road he won't be saying 'I told you so'.
He & I both hope that!
But I believe it's worth building something bigger, even if there's a risk someone may knock it down.
James is right.
Perhaps the reason there were no valid offers on the market at that point is because your high taxes and government sponsored undercutting drove all the real companies out of business and to different markets.
Before taxes Q5 guns were sitting around 36.5 IEP. Now the lowest offer is 37 IEP (if I sold that low that'd be a not insignificant loss to me).
Q5 food was ~3.3. Maybe as high as 3.5. The current lowest offer is mine, and that's at 3.6. I fail to see how these taxes are helping the end consumer.
Not only have prices increased as a result of your taxes, but the average wage in eIreland has dropped significantly as well. Market offers used to sit around 100, but the highest at present is 87.5.
Also, what's with these one sentence articles? I guess you at least broke your sentence up into two obnoxious images that you put in png format instead of jpg because it was important that the transparencies came through in them....
That pic was taken while VAT was 5% (As proposed by Bhane)
The government sponsored undercutting your referring to is not present as the pic clearly shows.
Are you saying that you can't afford to produce Q5 weapons now?
Are you paying the 3 (potentially) active employees of yours (one of which is British) so much that you cannot cover the costs of production?
Because your 1 current job offer @ 83iep would indicate that your profit margin is in no danger.
I've left most of my employees wages at 100 IEP. I'm running my resource companies at a loss. The 5% tax lasted little more than a day. Since the government WAS undercutting me, I had to let go of my employees because I couldn't compete. When it was lowered to 5%, I tried to hire some new folks (the three I have now). Obviously it has been bumped back up and it's too much of a hassle to try to keep track of how much I'm losing on each sale if it's just going to change in another 24 hours.
Don't congress members get 5 gold whenever they're elected? Have you tried getting donations out of them? If they donated only 4/5 per term, that'd be an easy 120k IEP that you'd be taking from the system rather than the citizens.
And regardless of my business, you still haven't addressed the fact that all market goods have consistently increased in expense while wages have declined.
(Thanks for reminding me about that job offer btw, I meant to cancel that).
"I'm running my resource companies at a loss" -Ghoti Frye
........
multiple alarm bells are ringing
So since I'm not punishing my workers for their hard work by dropping their wages with the rest of the market I'm a bad person? It's not a huge loss, I just do it for convenience.
Your response still has nothing to do with the fact that the economy of eIreland has suffered for citizens and business since the taxes have been modified, and the fact that you're incapable of writing an article with any content.
I'm not against taxes, and I understand the importance they play in ensuring we keep our government funded and safe. However, suddenly springing 25% on us was and is stupid. I'm done talking to you though, since you clearly have nothing to say.
lol
