It is sweet and fitting to die for one's country.

Why I Choose Peace

Our civil war has claimed another victim, the short-lived Japan Worker's Party, and with it the defection and death of two of who could have been some of eJapan's proudest citizens. Their departure is only the latest in a line of casualties that have plagued our nation since the Civil War began. How much more can our fair nation take? While both sides continue to plan, polarize, and prepare for the inevitable next battle, people continue to disappear from our nation. This is the true cost of war, not monetary or physical losses, but the loss of human capital, of great minds on either side that could have continued to shape and reform and drive our nation into the future. Regardless of your opinions of the JWP, it's irrefutable that it was a party with major ideas for eJapan, and full of people who truly loved and cared for our land. We will never be able to replace the life and energy that they, or anyone else we have lost, brought to us.

Our countrymen are the victims of a bitter conflict that knows solace only for the victors, and the very foundation of my campaign is built on creating a sustainable peace for our future, one where our people can flourish in an open, welcoming environment.

To the people of my party, I pose a question: How will we manage to coexist in the event of a Popular Front victory? When we finally succeed in forcing democracy upon our nation and lead the government with those who supported it, will this really bring peace to our nation? Will we be forced to rely on superior firepower suppress the "enemy," simply crating a new chapter in a civil war that already knows no end? What peace and lasting stability for our nation can possibly be achieved without creating a environment where integrity and faithfulness are the foundations of government?

Compromise is tough. Negotiations can be painstakingly long and difficult, and not once will I ever say that it is an easy goal to accomplish. And at the end of the day, no side will be satisfied with any outcome we come to. But I truly believe the only path to a sustainable peace in eJapan comes from bridging partisan lines and coming together to make something that is greater than ourselves. There will be more roadblocks. There will be more failures. There will be more impasses. But working through these issues at the discussion table leads to something more substantial and greater than discussion on the battlefield ever will. I truly believe that.

In the two years I've been here, I have watched far, far too many people give up this game. I have had my spirit crushed and my heart broken many, many times by people either side, and despite all of my failures, I will always to stand for the greater good of our nation.

This is my promise to my party, and to the people of eJapan.
