[Dept of Information] Government Update - Day 1,347

Day 1,347, 21:10 Published in Australia Australia by Mr Crumpets

The first few days of the H.Nelson government have been hectic as your cabinet come to terms with their new roles. The Ministry of Information will keep you updated of major events as regularly as possible.

FINANCE
Incoming Minister of Finance venja has pieced together the current financial situation. Though we are not meeting budget due to lower than forecast tax income the situation is not disastrous. Current senate debate on reviewing tax policy will help here, as tax changes for food, weapons, food raw materials and weapons raw materials take effect. Congratulations go to the newly elected congress for agreeing to such a significant number of tax changes in a short period.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS
A number of important alliances are up for renewal. Minister of Foreign Affairs Garven Dreis and Deputy k0llht0s have met with their counterparts in a number of nations to discuss these. First cabs off the rank for renewal is:

USA

Bros forever, one of our most enduring alliances.

Greece

Long term friends and allies, eGreece

Bulgaria

One of EDEN's biggest hitters, Bulgaria means srs bsns.

Based on discussions to date a number of other nations are ready to renew our formal alliances, so stay tuned for further developments.

DEFENCE
A resistance war was fought yesterday in South Australia. This was not an officially sanctioned battle and no ADF forces were deployed. After successfully defending Queensland against eNew Zealand we attacked Auckland but were repelled. eNew Zealand have now admitted this is not a training war and ordered their troops to go hard in their latest attack on New South Wales which was unfortunately taken in a fierce battle. eNZ have now attacked Queensland. Keep up to date with Dept of Defence official orders to be sure you're fighting smart.

EDUCATION
New Minister of Education Flatty and Deputy Michael Windsor are hard at work. First up advice for new citizens was published yesterday. Text for a personal message welcoming all new citizens has also been prepared, and all new citizens will be contacted with helpful information to survive their first days in the game, and hopefully induce more people to stick around.

NATIONAL SECURITY AND IMMIGRATION
Minister Mark Brennan and Deputy Binda33 have established procedures for monitoring and vetting citizenship requests both in game and on the eAustralian forum. Immigration should run smoothly with the benefit of their combined experience. I would like to pass on some information regarding the National Security function of their portfolio, but apparently if they told me what was happening they'd have to kill me. Funnily enough, ever since I asked I've noticed black SUVs with dark tinted windows following me around. Coincidence?

CONGRESS / SENATE
Congratulations to Timeoin and Mark Brennan appointed as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the senate. As outlined in the Financial report the senate have agreed and enacted a number of important tax changes proposed by senator infin, an impressive accomplishment so early in the term. The senate have also agreed to renew our alliance with eUSA, and discussed updates from the incoming Minister of Finance and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

That's all for now. Your Ministry of Information will keep you updated with current events as they happen, please be sure to shout and vote this article so other citizens will get the message. Feel free to PM one of us for further information.
