[AMP] Legal Update!

Day 1,972, 08:05 Published in USA USA by Syz2

For the past couple terms, our legal director Free Area has worked on a big revision to the statute by which our party operates. The basic idea behind this is that sometimes different party presidents will want to change the way certain things are done. One example of a change is the way we handle congressional elections. One part of this is the requirement of submitting a congressional preparedness quiz, which is simply to make sure all applicants know what they need to know about congress and to allow a congressional mentor to help them with the things they weren't sure on.

When we wanted to change some policies, we would have to edit the very framework of the party, that is the statute. But our legal director Free Area split the former statute into two separate documents: a policy document and a statute document. The policy document allows us to make revisions on policies that reflect the current procedures of the party, while the statute contains the basic framework on which the party operates. Through this system, the statute will rarely have to be edited, and we can change the policy document as needed.

On April 6th the final work into separating these two documents was made law. With this we don't have to edit our basic framework when we want to change a small procedure. There were also some clarification and grammatical improvements that accompanied this change.
If you are an AMP party member and have registered on our forums, you can view the new party statute and policy documents here:

There are a few other legal changes that have been done this term. One major one was the raising of nominations for elections. By raising nominations from two required to four required, it greatly improves the reasons to have a nomination period in the first place, while still allowing people to be nominated without difficulty. Another change is the simplification of the chain of command, which reminds Round Table members that they are a team, and all have equal responsibility.

While constitutional improvements are a good thing, something that is really beneficial to the party are donations. The American Military Party strives hard to support their members in every way they can, and promote our community and ideals. We have large ambitions, but we completely reliant on the generosity of supporters to operate. Helping your party helps your nation, and we accept donations in any form.
