Introduction

Hello everyone,

As you all know my name is Corona19. I have been here for over 2 months now and I am growing each day.

I know some of you will associate the above paragraph with the ongoing Covid19 but though this may sound like a joke, it is not.

I joined eRepublik initially as I had some free time. I merely chose the name Corona19 simply because the word Corona was globally trending and I couldn't think of a better name.

When I started out I had trouble convincing certain people who were in power at that time that I was a real or genuine person. They quickly dismissed me and after sometime stopped answering my queries.
On the contrary, I have been warmly accepted by some in Switzerland and the World, some others saw evil in me due to the choice of my name and bullied me to the extent that I was about to quit eRepublik. I addressed them in a calm and composed manner saying I don't mean any disrespect to anyone here or in RL who have lost their friends and relatives to covid19.

Besides, I know of RL instances where babies are being named Corona and one set of twins were even named Corona and Covid. You may find that hard to believe but Corona was a Spanish and Italian family name even before the ongoing Covid19 emerged.

So I don't think my choice of name should be an excuse to pick on me for no reason. Infact in the initial few days, some people assumed I was a multi account and some still do despite the fact that almost all of them have reported me. When I questioned them as to how can a multi still survive if you have reported, they came up with new theories that I use an IP address blocker! Lol I play my games for fun and honestly I didn't know that some people will go to this extent just to get extra gold or votes which can help them win elections.

I was a silent observer in my first month here and it's only in my second month that I became more active and started making my voice heard through comments after having an identity crisis in the first month where most people confused me with some other citizens for obvious reasons.

I would also like to thank certain citizens, Swiss and non Swiss who approached me on their own and offered to help me and even invited me to join their MUs or political parties. They also sent me links of educational articles which helped me understand eRepublik better having played similar games in the past. Just to be clear, none of them had any political agenda while inviting me nor did they seek any votes or favours from me.

During my second month I got embroiled in certain issues with certain people in Switzerland. Although I was trying to make a point or providing constructive criticism, some of the Swiss Citizens conveniently branded me a troublemaker or troller who seeks attention. I may have made certain mistakes like getting personal or attacking someone for trivial matters and some people were quick to seize on my mistakes and magnify them and even ask others among other things, to unfriend me and block me trying to damage my image and reputation even before I had one.

I really doubt if it made any difference to me, as I had limited number of friends back then and that number has only grown day by day. Also I want to clarify that unlike what you may have heard, I haven't harassed anyone so there's no need to block me but even if you do, I don't hold anything against you as my time here is consumed by just drafting replies to all the people who message me. The messages I received have helped me not only understand various aspects of eRepublik but also given me a glimpse of how people behave in eRepublik when they can hide behind their avatars and be termed as powerful just because they are of a certain level or have been playing eRepublik for over 10 years or they have an unually high amount of gold and currency or maybe the amount of medals they have collected on their profile page.

While all of this worth an applause, I would like to end my article with an adage

PS - Don't need comments yet as I don't have any missions for 25 comments. Right now I'm collecting money to buy gold so that I can upgrade my Training Grounds all by myself as the Swiss Government doesn't have any schemes in place for newbies like me. So votes and endorsements are always welcome 🙂
