eIreland CP | Farewell

Day 4,430, 04:33 Published in Ireland United Kingdom by Rusty D

Greetings eIreland,

As my term draws to an end, I would like to take this final time to write to you all and talk about eIreland and the past month. But before I get down into it all, I would like to say "Sorry" for the last week or so of no articles. I am abroad and it took me a while to acquire a local sim to give me a hotspot. Whilst I have not had a chance (or enough data) to write a proper article, I have kept up to date with CODE/Ireland in Telegram and also in the message threads.

But enough of that, lets see how things went....

Military Operations

We were lucky enough to have two proper wars, along side our three TW's this term. All in all, it was a great showing by Ireland, even if we never ended up achieving the war goals we had in mind. Ireland and her fighters performed well in battle, but we also were able to take notes and hopefully we will be able to use the information, to become a better fighting force.

UK Ireland attacked our neighbours the UK, whilst we were wanting to take Northern Ireland, we ended up getting Wales instead, due to other nations battles. The war with the UK was swift and the UK forces easily fell to the way side. Wales was then allowed to be handed back to the UK. This battle provided us with some fun and the timing suited the Christmas events going on in eRep. But the lead up and execution of it, showed some very big failings IMO with our so called "alliance" CODE (more on this later).

NL Ireland launched an AS on NL as requested by CODE. They originally wanted Ireland to attack the newly NL acquired region in South Africa, rather then their cores. The reason for this was to allow Ireland to have another TW if we landed. I chose not to go with this plan, for the simple fact, we were hitting NL to avenge their attack on BiH. To do this, I wanted to aim for their cores, after all, the region in South Africa had plenty of CODE countries around it, they could just NE them there. If we aimed for the cores, it would be a up hill fight, but it is more of a blow to them, then a region they dont care for.

As you all know, we failed to land. But while this was a failure on our war goals, the battle (which was great for both Ireland and NL) showed us a lot more. It showed Ireland was a fighting country, it showed our tanks hitting hard, it allowed us to see how our military should be reshaped for future wars and it showed us yet again what CODE thinks of eIreland, even when we are doing actions for them.

Finland The Finns have kept our TW going. And TBH they are a great TW partner. They have responded well when plans changed during the TW, they are flexible when regions can not be hit or the TW ends due to other actions. As well as they are prompt when returning our tax dollars to us.

Albania Albania we all know and love. They have been a steadfast friend of eIreland for longer then I can remember. We are honoured to host them in our cores for a TW which also allows them to have a homeland of their own, whilst their cores are occupied. During every action eIreland has taken, Albania has listened to us and to our reasons why. They have offered advice when it was needed, but also supported us when we went in a different direction. To me, Albania is not just a TW partner, but a very good friend of eIreland, someone who even with out our alliance, would still be there for us.

USA The USA had a brief TW with us, to help facilitate the hand over of two of our regions. Whilst this hurt eIreland a bit economically during the battles (due to many Irish having US holdings), the citizens accepted the small bit of pain for the bigger picture. With the US holding some of our regions, we have been able to ensure 100% bonuses in those Irish regions. This has and will become a nice economic winfall for eIreland.

Dáil Éireann

I would just like to say "Thank You" to the two lots of Irish congress that I was able to work with. You allowed me to steer the country in a direction which I sought, you backed me in my decisions for eIreland and when votes came, they tended to be pass with a very large majority for them.

You all listened when I explained reasons behind actions in the congress threads and support these actions. This made governing much easier and while as CP I am the face of the Irish government, you the congress and the citizens are the ones who made it all come together. So, Thank you.

Irish Industries

As touched on above, our industry has manage to acquire 100% bonuses with out actually having them. Our people with holding companies in the now occupied Irish/US regions are now enjoying 100% across the board bonuses, with aircraft being at 85%. This is just the start of growing our industrial power. The Eire 2020 program will continue to push and grow our economy, both for local fighters/industrialists as well as for the export markets.

Eire 2020

Well what to say here.... This is a program that has the good of Ireland at it's heart. However daunting some aspects of it is, all in all, Ireland will come out stronger if it is adopted.

Some of these steps have already been turned into law, others are currently waiting to be rolled out. For those who are a bit nervous or cautious about it all, I have sat down and done the sums and figures. TBH I was a bit unsure at the start, but once I did the math and looked at the research, I saw the benefits for all of Ireland, not just the few.

Now, I implore the citizens of eIreland, dont just look at the person who will be presenting this program and declare a NO to it, just because of the presenter, please look at the program itself, listen to the evidence and then decide with out personal bias on Eire 2020. No one involved wants to hurt Ireland, we want to see Ireland grow.

CODE

In congress at the moment, there is talk about our alliance, which Ireland help create, CODE and if Ireland still fits in it. Whilst I wont go into the details about previous promises, I will comment on what I have seen during my term in the hot seat.

Communication Every day there is over 400 plus messages in the telegram channels, most of which are just in-fighting and bickering. There is also the calls for people to hit in lower div's so tanks with Mav Pack can come in and get their BH medals. When a proper valid point is raised, it tends to be shot down by the "power players" who are in control, or just drowned out and then ignored, by the large volume of useless messages. I learnt early on, to go directly to the country/person, however this was frowned upon because all decisions made by Ireland have to be accepted by the CODE elites. And we are not the only ones in this boat, even the US was belittled for going to a TW with out CODES approval.

TWs or Free Cores This is a weird one from where I sit. I see multiple TW's going on, however we have CODE members who are wiped or are being hosted because they no longer have their cores. However the "power player" countries are more interested in TW's to as they say "farm gold and get ready to fight ASTERIA".... but... granted I am not the smartest person here, wouldnt it be better to fight in the cores, I mean how much damage is being wasted in TWs that could be used in a proper battle. We have TWs going on to create epics, just so some people can get more TP money. And on the other side is, more TWs means more tanks needed. With CODEs attitude of "only buy from CODE", this is helping certain players get even richer... and for what?

I have yet to see any actual desire to help free a nation and when people have suggested it, they get shot down pretty quickly.

Our UK Adventure This was a laugh and also showed CODEs true colours to me. Not withstanding promises of NI to us (as I said I wont focus on previous promises, but what I saw), but what happened is something that tells me CODE has lost its way. Ireland and myself were berated by the CODE elites for attacking Wales. This was after the UK ran to CODE crying. What was constantly brought up, was the "Agreement" which Ireland never even signed (apparently we have to abide by stuff we dont sign or accept). Some of the things that came out in the berating, was:
"We should wipe Ireland for attacking the UK"

Yep, that is right. CODE attitude to UK and Ireland was apparent. Not only the call to wipe Ireland, but the general feeling was CODE wanted to keep the UK happy (none CODE member) rather then actually listen or care for what one of CODEs founding members was doing. There desire to appease the UK, who is pretty much a lapdog of CODE since they were wiped, rather then listen to one of their own members was pretty disgusting.

NL As evident in the NL screenshots of the battle, Ireland pretty much fought by its self, while NL had all of it's alliance backing it. Even though Ireland launched the attack on behalf of CODE, they, as an alliance were not even there. However we did have back up from friends and friendly nations. (I want to make this point clear, some of these nations are in CODE, but as an alliance as a whole, CODE was not there). There was actually messages asking for help in TW's rather then a battle against a nation that had just wiped our fellow member BiH... yep, more focused on TW's.

Strategic Planning As you might of noticed from above, in reference to CODE wanting us to hit South Africa instead of NL cores, to them preferring TWs then actual wars, strategic planning is missing from CODE's vocabulary. I must admit there, are some players who are trying to re-organise CODE into what it should be, but it is still the same 'elites' who dont want to have their cash cow rocked. Hell, even now they are still bickering about how many channels to have....

Conclusion From what I have seen this term, I strongly believe CODE is broken. Can it be repaired? Yes, I think it can be, but only if the 'elites' and the 'farming' mentality is thrown out with the dish water. Do I think eIreland will be weaker if she leaves CODE? No, I dont think so.

Ireland's strength is with it's players. Not only the ones who do battle for Ireland as shown in the NL fight, but the ones who do battle for our friends (one Croatian battle, small little Ireland did the 3rd most damage, which is surprising since other nations are bigger then us). Ireland is strong, not because we are in an alliance, we have seen that doesnt mean sh!t when it comes to the battle field, Ireland is strong, because we have friendships, built by players working with others, by our country working with other countries. What binds us in friendship is not the CODE umbrella, but the true binds of mateship with our friends like Croatia, Albania etc.

I remember when I was the CP in Australia as well as the earlier terms in Ireland. If we need help, it was just a matter of sending a PM to select players and then we would have damage falling from everywhere, this was not due to alliances (some of these countries were in different alliances), it was due to trust, friendship and honour among friends. Even with this current term, as many of you know I was two clicking for a while. I logged into CODE's telegram channel and no-one said "here is the Irish CP", instead I had old friends/tanks/string pullers saying "Rusty D your back, if you need help, sing out". Same as Warbhoy, Biedny and other Irish players/fighters, if they shout for help, help comes due to friendship not alliance.

Whats next?

Well, for me it is taking charge of the newly renovated IA. Trying to implement the military side of the Eire 2020 program (with lots of help from some of Irelands great's). So you will see more of me on the battle field (kinda felt good doing billions in damage for Ireland once again), as well as you will see me in the MoD role if the vote is correct. However I have also enjoyed my time in the hot seat (it did bring back good memories) and fun was had, I think anyway. So I might put my hand up again in Feb to lead this great nation.

Anyway, thanks again eIreland for a great term, it was fun and I hope you enjoyed it.

Your humble servant,
Rusty D
