Hi kids!
Grand Glaze branch, just off the main Osage, Lake of the Ozarks Mo. Because of congestion this part of the lake is manditory idle speed between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Probably the only time you'll see these boats doing less than 50 mph except at the dock.
Everyone has their favorite song(s) and artist(s). Most people have a playlist, previously called "mixtapes". Bonus points if you still have some 8-tracks. Great fun to grab some tapes, the ol' boombox and head for the beach, lake, river, during Summer Vacation.
This is my attempt to recall those songs from the 60's, 70's and 80's that were different but every bit as much a part of the culture. Might even throw in a drop dead classic occasionally although it's not about the played to death Top 40.

And the crazy part is, especially on Saturdays, you'll see a parade like that from 10 am until almost dark. If you notice there aren't any small boats (I'm guessing 28' minimum jn that pic). It's just not safe to be skiing or fishing on that part of the lake.

Lake of the Ozarks is the Summer get away place for St Louis and K.C. We also get people from Chicago, Des Moines, Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Lots of folks that come here just to "party". The people with the 100k boats usually have million dollar lake homes to go with it. Either that or lakeside condo. Most are 6 figure income that buy it all on credit.
There are many levels of people showing off how much they've got. Some just have a Lexus SUV to pull a 50k bass boat down for the weekend. A few even have 65' yacht worth maybe 5m + a crew to run it. They invite 5 of 6 business associates along with their wives to the lake for a weekend business conference. That way their toy is a tax write off. Of course if you want to see really rich people find ones that have vacation homes in Miami or Honolulu. Then there are the ones who Summer in the south of France or Italy on the Med.
Nothing at all like things were when I was a kid.
