[ENG] Interview with the president of Serbia / Интервю с президента на Сърбия

Day 4,314, 06:13 Published in Bulgaria Bulgaria by VAntonov

I appreciate the willingness of the Serbian president to do this interview for us.

To prevent this article from turning into a wall of text, I'm putting some beautiful Serbian women between the questions.

Enjoy!

Hello! Tell me a little about yourself (in the game or in RL)

Hello to all my Bulgarian friends and allies,

My eRepublik name is Backoovan or Backo ovan (as the animal xD). Backo is my rl friend and a major gambler and a deadbeat so my erepublik name is in honor of him losing 400e on some slot machine the very day I made this account.
I am 34 years old, from central Serbia (near Krusevac). I studied economy in Belgrade university and law in Nis university.. didn't finish either xD
Before I was a massive drunk during my younger age, but now I am mostly sober and hooked on energy drinks.
I have been playing erepublik for well over 10 years now and I have spent most of my time in politics. Serbian players either love me or hate me but everybody knows Backoovan.. My erepublik persona is purpose built and all I do and how I act is a part of an elaborate social experiment designed by me and some crazy sort I use to date 10 years ago..

You say in your article 'Let's repeat that April'. Can you describe in a few words what happened then, how was it possible and what can be achieved now?

For you to fully understand that you would need to know the specifics of eSerbian history and our relations in the past 10 years..
To know that you would need a month of reading and research..
In fewer words we use to be a very divided society with all the suicidal civil war Abel and Cain bullshit you can imagine and even worse..
Last April I took office and we kinda managed to make a unified front (just a few exceptions) and gave amazing results.
Efforts of the entire community was huge.
We faced a much stronger enemy but we managed to maintain most of our TWs and colonies.. However I realized this cannot be maintained long term so we started a couple of elaborate projects.

These projects softened the enemy blow and building from that we will rise once again and be even stronger.

That April was a turning point but the energy was starting to decline, old suicidal powers started to show up again..so I took office again to silence the troublemakers and give room for good people to work.

You're both the president and dictator. There have been arguments in Bulgaria on whether we should run a dictatorship and the people got divided because of these arguments. What do you think are the benefits of a dictatorship?

Now this is again a long topic..
I use to be, and still am, a massive democrat. I do not support dictatorship in any circumstance except when a country has lost its congress.
Without congress donations cant be made. Without donations and a healthy budged the entire machine stops.
Ministry of defense cant do its job, ministry of education cant give rewards and subsidies, no money for projects ect..
Another reason can be a hostile congress due to pto of a top 5 party or a rogue president or a pto president where impeach doesn't help..
All these are fully reasonable scenarios where you can have justified dictatorship.
Dictatorship should be a defensive tool, used by the government in order to help the country and make life possible for the society. Never an offensive tool put in service of individuals for robbery and self promotion.
I battled for years against illegal dictatorships in eSerbia and now i had to become a dictator.. but the circumstances and the type of this dictatorship cant be compared to most of those we had before.

I feel Bulgaria, like Serbia, had no choice.

How would you evaluate the level of coordination and communication in Asteria?

If you would ask me that some months ago, I would answer it is not on a good level.
People got tired, activity was low after years of domination.. seems everybody needed a kick in the butt to wake up.

Today things are a lot better.
Communication is great, battle plans put into motion.. We have good results to show in last couple of days and especially today.

Our enemies are in a far better position than us. What do you think is the reason and can this situation be overcome?

This is very simple.
We all got weaker and they got stronger.
Each nation must look within to find the reasons for decline.
I cant speak about Bulgaria (wouldn't be fair) but in Serbia case it is because of players selling accounts to enemies, lack of activity, decrease in packers and internal conflicts.

We all need to work hard to make our societies unified, overcome past problems and bad relations, work on our strategy and development, keep most players in the game and bring new ones, educate players on proper development and aid it.

This wont be an easy task but if we put our hearts and minds into it.. we shall prevail and be victorious again.

What is your message to the Bulgarians who are reading this?

Learn from mistakes of others (Serbia).
Do not allow past conflicts destroy your community. Tone down your egos and offer peace to each other. Work together and be proud Bulgarians.
You have friends, nations that can help and offer respect.. pay them back by doing your best for your country and after that for the entire alliance.

Kind regards to all of Bulgarians.
Pozdrav za nasu pravoslavnu bracu.

President & dictator of eSerbia, Backoovan
