[Debate] Removal of Government Programs from Lawbook
UNL Congress
Greetings, citizens of Netherlands,
ElGorro has requested the following debate to be opened.
Can I request a debate to be opened to remove the Government Programs from the Lawbook. They dont have any use there as they can be changed without Congress approval and it gives the government more flexibility to operate as they want.

The only change resulting from this is that Government programs will not be accesible on the eRep Wiki from the Lawbook section, but from some other section. Or possibly not even that.
Debate with purely rhetorical, and not practical value. Voted down.
Ofc youre against as its your proposal to have them in the Lawbook. If I follow your reasoning we should implement the finance sheet as well in the Lawbook. Same stupid idea.
Uhm... actually, it's not, I do not claim responsibility for any Appendixes.
But if it helps you to build the narrative. Mr. Lawbook 😉 .
I do not see anything valuable here, I agree with Janty
Article 5 – Government Programs
1. The Government of the eNetherlands is required to allocate at least half of its regular budget on in-game initiatives that aid eDutch citizens in the form of Government Programs.
2. The Government can at any time request the (Deputy) Chairman of Congress to modify the undermentioned list. Details of Governmental Programs can be freely edited, the launch or discontinuing of a Program, however, requires an announcement in the debating section of Congress.
3. Active Government Programs require to be promoted at least once a month in the form of an in-game article.
4. All subsidies and rewards handed out by Government Programs need to be recorded in appropriate Ministry Sheets.
According to this there is not the requirement of following any type of gov program meaning if you are in the gov you only have to warn the congress of the changes
To be clear. I am not referring to this part but to https://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Government_Programs_of_the_Netherlands
Supporting ElGorro idea. Programs should be 100% independent from Congress, leaving it to gov to manage them.
Also less useless written laws is always good, giving more flexibility to future govs.
form my understanding they are you only have to say "we are not gonna do it or we gonna change it" Gov is required to do programs and not "that" program in particular 🙂
That means they are not 100% independent from Congress 😃 maybe 99% but still
Yes, you understand it correctly,@Fmcv. The only responsibility Government has is to inform Congress about what programs will be starting or ending (and have some programs in the first place).
All in all, reasonable requirement 🙂 .
Hmmm did the government informed the people on ALL programs last months?
there was an article on every single one of the programs (dunno if that counts) and can't say " oh you can't do that program" they can only say "you have to do a Program that covers half the budget"
I guess I missed the Housing program then?
https://www.erepublik.com/pt/article/-mof-everyone-a-house-november-2707169/1/20 last month is here 🙂 this month is comming soon
I feel the list your are trying to get remove does nothing so keeping it or scraping it it's the same on the other hand it's good the have a place where we can get the info of all program maybe do a program list outside the lawbook?
@Fmcv - That would also make sense, but it is a text nonetheless, and some people just hate official long texts 😛 .
Exactly Kaczy
Its a useless part of our Lawbook. The Lawbook should be only for long term rules and such. Not for text that can be updated whenever we want without vote or even to be ignored without problems.
It indeed is not text with that much weight, besides giving an overview. It is therefore not officially part of ''The Law Book'' but an addendum. The Programs are highly dependent on persons putting in time and effort and that text is not really going to enforce it (besides the rules like 50% of income should be spent on ''Programs''). So, either way, not that much substantial meaning to be honest.
This debate feels a lot like splitting hairs on wiki management. I'm not bothered if it's included on that page or another. It is helpful to include a listing of the programs Congress approves subsidies for. In a younger world, I might prefer to find them in Society or Community or such for general information purposes but pffbblllttt.
I prefer a central list as it is over complete removal.
The way programmes are currently added as a appendix to the lawbook helps us to remember what programs are created that are/were centrally run by the government. They don't have to be part of the lawbook appendix but removing them might cause us forgetting abou them all together. This way the government and CoCs keeps the page up to date which is in our interest. Therefore even though they dont have to be part of the lawbook the programs being there is still a good thing in my opinion.
6. If no vote on the topic has been started after 168 hours, and 48 hours have passed since the last comment, the (Deputy) Chairman of Congress may choose to close the debate.
The debate has been closed.
