[CP] War & Peace

Day 4,809, 14:17 Published in Ireland Ireland by Aras an Uachtarain

Dear Éire,

It has been a quite busy term so far. We’ve been going through a lot even though it sometimes doesn’t seem like that in the public. Most of the month we’ve been working on treaties, tried to keep other countries away from Ireland in a diplomatic way & kept working on our infrastructure that enables our troops to fight for efficiency.

Peace Treaty between Rep. of Ireland and the United Kingdom

Traditionally relations with the UK had its ups and downs, we’ve always been close enemies, or friends that don't trust each other. Take last month for example, we went from having a nice little training war to being sworn enemies. Both of us are two small countries that have their times of strength and weaknesses. Our diplomatic goal was to achieve a Treaty with the United Kingdom that will make both sides happy with it and I believe we’ve just done that. The most important person from our side during the negotiations was Alfa UKSF, he did almost all the talks and wrote the Treaty by himself. He did a marvelous job as a Minister of Defence this term and I’d like that to be appreciated by the public. The rest of the Government has been reading through it, giving its ideas and trying to see pros and cons of each article in the Treaty. Full Treaty text can be found HERE.

What makes me happy about the Treaty is the fact we’re keeping Northern Ireland. We’ll be returning part of the income this region generates due to that being returned to eSpain by the British Government. They have a concession signed with Spain so we didn’t really want to get third parties involved in such a bilateral issue. Having Northern Ireland makes our TW’s go faster, we don’t have to wait until some regions are open for an attack and it means a lot to everyone that farms in our battles. List of the farmers is getting bigger and bigger and hopefully this trend will continue. That’d be our main strategic goal in the long term.

The current UK Administration has been extremely polite, talks were done in a positive atmosphere and hopefully this is going to lead to better relations in the future. British President Jiminy had nothing to do with the previous Administration in eUK and that surely helped the cause.

Foreign Affairs

The entire term so far has been extremely busy when it comes to diplomacy. Not only because of the Bushmills Treaty, but also due to the fact several countries had intentions to attack us.

The USA started a war declaration on us over the reasons from the past. Romania started Airstrike law for the same reasons as the USA. We responded to both of those laws with counter laws, NE on USA and AS on Romania. None of the laws passed and we’re happy for it. As I said numerous times so far, it might be a boring process, but we have to get through it, we’re not looking for any real wars at this moment, we’re not ready for them. It’s not fun to fight if you know you can’t win. Another reason I’m glad those two laws failed is the fact we’re now members of Pacifica, the alliance that holds at least neutral relations to Asteria. Even though it wouldn’t be our fault, I would hate to see our new Alliance gets involved in the situations that started in our history just because someone from somewhere felt like it would be fun to attack eIreland. We’re looking to keep improving ourselves to be able to establish some new relations and stick to them with all we got.

The Netherlands has also proposed AS on Ireland, but it was a troll law. Our little brothers that grow fast were just trying to mess with us. I slept on it so no interventions were needed diplomatic wise and the joke totally failed.

TW’s and Map of Ireland

As you can see in a screenshot above all Irish regions are being used for TW purposes. We don’t have any valuable bonuses so this comes handy when it comes to TW’s. We’re using all our regions and TW’s are going fast with a few pauses. Our only base outside of Ireland is a small island owned by Finland, we’re having a TW with Finland, it works the same way as all the other do. We’ll be looking to get another TW going as soon as that’s possible. All informations about our TW's can be found HERE.

Our TW with Argentina has been stopped, I’d like to thank them for being good guests in Mayo and wish them best of luck in the future. Their NAP with Asteria has expired and it wasn’t renewed so we couldn’t risk anyone coming here for them without a deal with eIreland.

We were looking for a new TW partner to be placed in the Mayo region and United Arab Emirates were our choice. I was assured UAE will protect our TW no matter the costs and this was what we were looking for. Since we’ve been improving our relations through talks and coordination with all the countries that spent some time having TW with us here, I’m looking forward to doing the same with UAE too. They’re a small country with a huge damage output, something we’re looking to become. UAE will be returning the taxes collected from our region.

Finally, don’t forget to run for Congress, elections are only in a couple of days from now. Once again the Irish Congress did a nice job discussing, debating and deciding on several issues that needed support by the majority. I’m glad the successful cooperation between the Government and Congress continues.

Much love,
Xoroathos
