Congress in 2010!

Well in order to make up for my platform disaster from last time I decided to put together a full in-depth platform on a number of issues. I will do my best to cover all the issues but if you have any questions or feel like I failed to address anything in this article make sure to ask about it in the comments or send me a PM.

Domestic:

The Economy:

The recently unified tax structure (we lowered the import taxes on several products) should be effective for the foreseeable future. Revenues have been high and the domestic economy has stabilized following the reunification price free fall. To be honest though there isn't much I can say about how the economy is going to look in January because of the predicted roll out. In all likelihood we will have to set taxes for a full new set of industries. In addition there is a chance we will need to adjust our tax structure based on potential changes in the productivity formula.

Hopefully the new econ module should fix the current product inflation however this means that companies should prepare for the possibility of decreased productivity from their employees. This is all conjecture of course but it is likely we will need to deal with potentially extensive changes to the economy.

The Military:

The JCS has been doing a great job at improving military efficiency and I think this should be our primary continued goal. I am also eager to work with the military through the necessary legislation to help them adjust to the changes to the combat module. Though most of the changes should only effect the internal distribution of the funding that the military is already receiving. If new companies are needed to produce the new aspects of the military module (air force, tanks?) I believe that the congress is going to need to step up and find the gold to sponsor new companies for military operations.

I also will push congress to put together a cooperative task force between the welcoming committee and the mentor program to educate the public on the changes in the war module. In addition a genuine effort should be made to PM the entire country with a manual explaining the new war module.

Fortress States:

This is a must. I am willing to defend this system in its entirety but this plan has some intrinsic responsibilities that the government has to shoulder for it to function. We need to continue to maintain the mentors and welcoming committee to make sure as many citizens as possible end up utilizing our Q5 hospitals. In addition we should pressure the parties to ensure and/or require that their members live in the fortress states.

We should also encourage that these fortress states become economic hubs in addition to population hubs. Considering the pending roll out of more industries for the mil module as well as the potential changes from the econ module we should use this opportunity to centralize our economy as well in order to prevent another New Jersey.

International:

EDEN:

We think these guys are awesome. These guys seem to think we are awesome. That seems like a good system to me. In addition erep wars are becoming more and more an issue of initiative and less and less an issue of actually winning battles this means aligning our selves within a large alliance greatly increases our military potential. So I think this is a system we should stick with.

”Imperialism”:

This word is more tired than “Epic” which takes some serious work in erep. I think Josh Frost got this concept nearly entirely right when he talked about how this is just another aspect of the role-playing I can not stand in this game. Imperialism in erep does not exist in the game at all since most countries don't actually represent the entire globe or real countries or real populations. I think the eUS should do all it can to produce strong independent allies however when it comes to our enemies their territorial integrity is not a moral question but rather a pragmatic one.

Non-Aligned States:

I believe the eUS should strengthen its ties with the non-aligned states as much as possible. Many of these nations are invested in role playing and conceptions of national pride or independence and though I don't personally play this game according to those principles we should support their right to do so. Strong ties with as many nations as possible is in the best interest of the eUS in the long run.

Conclusion:

I am a game mechanics player through and through and nearly everything I do in congress falls in line with this philosophy. I represent over a half a year of congressional experience and will continue to represent my constituents and our country to the best of my ability if reelected.
