World War Breaks: PEACE GC invades Canada

Day 601, 12:15 Published in Austria Austria by Rangeley

After days of waiting, the opening volleys of a World War have been fired. Launching an invasion force from France, forces from PEACE GC have landed in Nova Scotia, Canada, making early progress against the defending Canadian forces. Canadian leaders have ordered the army to hold out on launching a counter attack for as long as possible, while they prepare for a potential second strike from Hungary in Newfoundland. The American President has pledged American support in the defense of Canada, and Kelley Mahoney, a congresswoman from Canada, confirmed that the invasion is "for real."

Shortly after word of this broke, reports from the United Kingdom indicated that forces from PEACE were streaming in from Scotland - a territory given to Hungary in hopes of averting war - and into North Eastern UK. Though early suspicions were that this was another phase of the war, the British Prime Minister issued a statement that this was merely a continued part of the training wars with Hungary.

Nonetheless, in both Nova Scotia and North Eastern UK, the defenders have been driven into the underground, with PEACE acting with surprise in both locations. The Austrian Independent will follow these events as they develop.
