Time for Carnage II

Day 1,790, 01:49 Published in Australia Australia by Chris Carnage

Members of the United Labour Front, I seek your support in tomorrow's Party President election. I have been in personal contact with each of you to express my goals and ambitions for this party, and to herald a few changes that I propose. I remind you of my specific commitments:

* To change the name and face/logo of the party
* To commence work on a manifesto that will guide party policy into the future
* To work hard on recruitment and organisation

A new name, a new logo, the Australian Communist Party

What I haven't spelled out, in anything but my behaviour, are the intangible ambitions I hold for this party, for its culture and character. It is my earnest commitment to help build a party that differentiates itself from all others by working positively and constructively toward a common vision for eAustralia.

We are revolutionaries and radicals, and by nature impatient to hasten the elimination of systems and institutions that oppress us and our constituents. As such we face specific challenges that do not afflict the more centrist parties. It is easy under the weight of oppression for that radicalism to be turned to unproductive means; to be reactionary instead of revolutionary, to become destructive, vindictive and bitter.

I commit to you dear members, and to the people of eAustralia, that under my leadership we shall not become reactionary but will at all times demonstrate an unswerving, positive and constructive commitment to our revolutionary vision. We shall not shy away from the hard questions but will take joy in addressing these in a polite and constructive way, avoiding at all costs the descent to personal attacks that seem to characterise much political debate in this country, no matter how vigorously the enemies of the revolution goad us.

Just because we're radicals doesn't mean we can't be polite

Should the membership choose another direction it will not alter one iota my commitment and I will continue to loyally serve the revolution in whatever role is of greatest utility.

Your humble servant,

Chris Carnage
Prospective ULF Party President
