The game that never was.
Ralph Kline
I am truly bored.
Otherwise this lacklustre attempt at providing an explanation for my loss of interest and my absence would not be taking place. Some five and a half years ago I started playing erep, that is if "playing" is a proper description of the time spent online trying to shape and grow my character.I think better to see it as time spent searching.
That seems odd, even to myself as I write it. However, that is what took place. I was looking for meaning in the social interaction that took place in the erep website and in the ecanada forums. Meaning in the dialogue, and in the co-operation and opposition that was so often encountered. Purposeful intent to build a business and political carrier and get some sense of satisfaction from it. There was for so long, an idea that I could speak to a place of common identity and somehow be fulfilled. Yet, there was always a hollow sense to my time spent. I started to listen to the rhetoric of all the game changes that revolved around earning gold for the games owners. I started to blame the environment for my condition. Soon after that, stopped fighting, trying and working.I was wrong though, as have been many.
The game is not a game at all. This place is about connections, simple social connections, that have been trampled by a profit model.
There is no objective, beyond reaching out to one another via the internet and finding discussion worthy of continuation.
So, in stopping looking, I have found.
What comes next, if anything, who knows? I think I would like to see a comment or two of real nature. Like who we are and what we do, in nondescript non-revealing terms of course, if you're so inclined.
My name is Mike and I live in small town Alberta....

Well well i'm agree with you. eRep can be very boring&annoying sometime. And since a couple of month it's really shitty. Personnaly i'm a 2-clicker for a wild and waiting for a new economic&war modul which will probably never come....

Hi Mike
Jay here, from Windsor Ontario originally but living in Winnipeg for the last 9 years
Btw, Jax and Taylor are the names of my 2 dogs
What kind of dogs you got, our is an aussie shepard, very smart but a little nutty
I've got a golden doodle named Raynor, after the Star Craft character.
How are you liking it, I had a chance to go out that way but decided I wouldn't like the weather and the mosquitos
Winnipeg's got a bit of a bad rap. I mean it's not that awesome a city but it's really not that bad.
I don't really remember the mosquitoes being horrible when I was visiting family during the summer but yeah, it gets cold in winter.

Harry here, in Hamilton
I have aways wanted to see some more of Ontario, just been to Toronto
and Ottawa,lol
~hyuu~
GTA region in Ontario.
haha "~hyuu~" was created by a player named noyst, (which is just Tyson spelled backwards), he discovered the word because of the letter positions on the keyboard... but you probably already knew that
IIRC ~hyuu~ was from his favourite manga & anime Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. A character from it couldn't whistle, so he said "~hyuu~"
lol, he wiz pulling my leg then
John from Langley, BC. 4 generations of my family have now been born here.
My sister moved out to Vancouver 20 years ago and i doubt she will ever leave, i would love to live on the island
I'm back in Ottawa after about 10 years out of the city and country. I started playing back when I was missing Canada during a wet, long winter in Brussels.
My wife and I attended the remembrance day ceremony this past November in Ottawa, which we were both very honoured to do. I was impressed by the security forces on duty.
Was too bad we didn't have more time there, Ottawa is a great city to visit!
Yeah, it's not a bad city at all. Nice place to visit and raise a family. Yeah, major tours skip over us because we're too close to Montreal and Toronto but neither is really that far away if you really want to see something (which I never have) - especially Montreal.
I just got back after spending two years in Toronto and while I had a good time I never really saw what was so great about it. Yeah, some of their restaurants are better (I'm still trying to find a good chinese and pizza place here but it's only been two months) and they have musicals which I never went to but other than that it was really just really, really big. And the houses are completely unaffordable. If you thrive off of the energy of having thousands of strangers around you, Toronto's awesome but I never really liked that.
yeah, Toronto has a bunch of good stuff-- food especially, but I find the place draining. It could be that I haven't actually lived in nor spent significant time in Toronto to call it another home.
Gordon in Vancouver. Originally from Niagara Fall ON.
Hey Gordon!
Chad in Yellowknife.
I am as I ever was.
True North spirit indeed...
Jesse. from vancouver and my heart is still there, but i work in Edmonton because i can afford to live here, and because on some level my company understands that people who have been relocated are less likely to quit after just having uprooted their entire life for the company.
I still log into this site every day because its a great addiction model/social experiment. I enjoy watching the different wheels move, watching the alliances shift. its a microcosm of the real world, even down to the rich paying to stay ahead and the poor trying to find something more with what they are given.
There is a dynamic at work, but I could imagine this to be so much more
Clint south of Montreal, in the cornfields

Yeah, exactly, Hahaha.. wher were you?
if/once you get to downtown Toronto, try Banh Mi Boys http://www.banhmiboys.com/ (an Asian fusion sandwich shop). but avoid lunchtime for the line up...
Is that good place? Thank you, I will try it later.. Lol Banh Mi Boys~
yep! it's amazing if you like a bit of Korean or Chinese sweetness in a sandwich (;
if not, it's at least worth trying something new xD
My name is Đorđe(serbian cyrillic Ђорђе, other versions: english/french George, spanish/portuguese Jorge, italian Giorgio, german Georg/Jürgen, russian Yuri etc.) and I live in small spa town called Vrnjačka Banja in Serbia just like my ancestors last couple of centuries.

Hi Ralph,Im John, Live in Barrie Ontario, moved over here from the UK back in the Summer of 2007, hated the winters at first but now they are just bearable, well i do live in a snow belt
Well, that's surprising. Mike from Innisfil here. I basically live in Barrie though.
Yeah your just down the road from me,about 15 minutes drive
I think the winters are nothing like they were 20 years ago, but maybe thats selective memory 🙂
Those Barrie winters must be hell. 😛
Usually a lot of snow, been lucky so far this year, only had the snow blower out for the first time in early Jan, nothin much to talk about for the last 3 weeks apart from the last few days of -40c temps
