Taxes
eAus Department of Information
To all proud citizens of eAustralia and our precious taxpayers
This article will be dedicated to tax issues. It is a specific matter and we can’t hold one position all the time. Sometimes is black, sometimes is white but most often we need to search the balance into the shade of our multilevel grayscale. And then we need to set the proper brightness/contrast/sharpness
For making the right decision we have to make analyze answering the following questions:
- Do we have full control of our taxes?
- How many bonuses we hold and which exactly?
- Market prices - low or high and what is the tendency?
- How many producers/farmers do we have?
- How much will be farmers profit with different rates of taxes?
- What is the main purpose for changing the taxes and is there any other active option to solve the problem?
- How these changes will reflect to the community and to all foreign producers?
- eAustralia has been wiped many times in the past by ex-Aurora nations. In such situations the natural reaction is lowering the taxes to the minimum, otherwise we would pay to the enemies for holding us wiped.
- If we are conquered by a friendly nation (plenty of reasons for that) we could leave old taxes, because we they will be given back to us and we have nothing to lose. That is just an example and for sure we need to reduce the taxes if we don’t have enough bonuses for profitable production.
- Free nation with legitimated cabinet and fine congress or under friendly dictatorship – we can vote whatever we feel it would be best for the nation.
- Nation under foreign dictatorship – all taxes can be changed every single day and it is up to the farmers if they want to work and sell, they will shut down their companies for a while or they will leave the country and finding new place.
Australia had very attractive weapon bonuses just before Resources Tournament. We were under enemy invasion very often, but there were Australians who had a secret hope that we will liberate our regions and we will be able to produce weapons and WRM for our own needs using our own bonuses. Now we have 3 food bonuses and zero weapons. We have one bonus of houses, but only one bonus is nothing furthermore it is a part of rent agreement with Peru. Now the good investment would be low quality food factories and may be companies for FRM. No workers needed, neither big investments in once. Everyone can be farmer. Here the work tax gives reflection to the profit.
In case that we hold foreign regions we can afford to increase the taxes, because we would have much higher profit for our production.
Now only investments in houses can give you some money, but if we had chosen house bonuses then all enemy and friendly nations would come here to conquer us. Interests in the first place!
We are witnesses of the lowest prices for the goods ever. Too many factories and companies and too many players invested real money for the virtual farming. Game changes kill all new players or make all non-buyers to quit the game. Our world is old and it is full with production which no one wants to buy. If we increase the taxes we will reduce the profit from the poor barons and they would chose other place to sell.
If admins decide to make some changes into rocket factories (producing 100% booster using wps including Q7) or in houses (consuming enormous amount of food – energy units or different quality food for +10nrg/6min) then the market will be live place again. Last mission gave + 800 energy for 45 days, which means that food will finish very soon and the price will jump. And this happens now. At the same time the price of the houses will goes down, because no one would needs them (except Q1 Houses for extra working tickets). It comes time for speculation!
- How many farmers do we have?
- Few!
Those players must say their opinion about taxes. But not just posting “agree” or “disagree”! All others have 3 to 10 factories or companies and their point of view is also very important, but if everyone keeps silence then someone else will decide instead of you. It always happen IRL.
First I thought that Black Spectra players will pay the new taxes too. But they are mostly fighters and they wouldn’t spend the precious exp. points for farming. A month ago there were shouts from Black Spectra players about work offer with 60 cc + 2 moving tickets (up to 10 times daily working). Is there any worker in such place with that salary? Is there any player who can explain what you must produce in eAustralia to gain profit by paying such wages? Or those players can store their working tickets and then leave the country, going to another nation with full houses bonuses, making the production and coming back again because Xen holds all CS passes.
Honestly, I was not able to hear your voice – Australians’ and the Black Spectra’s.
End of part one …

I have one of Skynet's jobs. It is genuinely $60/shift, which is great for me personally. The moving tickets were a one-time thing. They came through almost instantly, so good job Skynet, keeping his promises. With our bonuses, I do not think any company is profitable at that wage.
I also have half a dozen food and FRM companies. None of them higher than Q2, but then I've only been back in the game for 6 weeks or so. Work tax has increased to nearly $1/company, which hurts. Presumably, it would be about $0.50 under the old 1% regime, which is still an increase from the $0.40 or so of the past month. The 25% increase is almost certainly driven by the high wages offered by both Skynet's and Rusty D's companies.
What I find frustrating about the current tax "debate" is the absence of any vision to spend the money. Just like RL Australia, without a goal and vision the whole thing becomes a Dutch auction for low rates and personal gain. Taxes pay for MPPs, I get that. Can someone please answer these questions, to get the goals across:
How many MPPs are we required to hold, for Nebula and Peru issues?
How many are we expected to hold? (Note different to required to hold)
What does each one cost, on a monthly basis?
Is there a surplus or shortfall on expected monthly revenue vs minimum monthly cost?
What are we going to do with our surplus, or how will we fund th shortfall?
I don't favour certain individuals paying country costs from their accounts. If gives them undue influence over the whole nation. I am not saying that they abuse their position, however the potential for abuse remains. And the perception of abuse is present. So, let us steer clear of those murky waters please!
Wait for part two

Thanks, J, awesome work. Hanging out for part 2 already.
For a log time I was in agreement to raising certain taxes but after a long time of being shot down I see a far better benefit to the community on keeping it low, this stance I have kept for a very long period on low taxes.
I still see no benefit to raising taxes whether it be short or long term, there is one sentence that you have used above that will ring true
" they will shut down their companies for a while or they will leave the country and finding new place."
Yes, we all want to push more of our community members away don't we?
Guag, sometimes it's hard to tell when you're serious and when you're not. Nobody, to my knowledge, wants to drive members of the community away.
That said, I don't think anyone is here because they make money hand over fist. People are here because they're RL Aussies. Or their friends are here. Or something else, coz there are a few "miscellaneous" reasons. I'd be willing to bet eMoney that nobody is here for profiteering. Historically we've spent a lot of time wiped out. With no production bonus, nobody makes any money...
