Ah shit
Q. Covering just under a quarter of the worlds land area, this Empire was the worlds largest.
A. At its peak (1920) The British Empire covered 23.84% of the earths landmass.
This is the one I got wrong, oops 😛 Mongolian empire had about 1//4 the population but not the landmass 😞 But it did also have over 20% of the landmass according to google 😃
This is what I used, which said it was just over 16%. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_empires
I was hoping this one wouldn't confuse ppl which is why I put 'land area'
Good work!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolia#Middle_Ages_to_early_20th_century
Under his successors it stretched from present-day Ukraine in the west to Korea in the east, and from Siberia in the north to the Gulf of Oman and Vietnam in the south, covering some 33,000,000 square kilometres (13,000,000 sq mi),[23] (22% of Earth's total land area) and having a population of over 100 million people (about a quarter of Earth's total population at the time).
I cant say whats right tho
It's really close between the two. The British empire was very precise with mapping, a lot of the Mongolian territory is 'assumed'. I guess neither is the wrong answer.
Very interesting Quiz. More of this please!
Where are the maps from btw?
🙂
Just googled them 🙂
It was fun, thank you for making this once again 🙂.
I'm pretty sure I've got half of them correct, so I would like to know my exact stats 😛.
You got 4 correct
very good, Josh!
Congratulations Bombay Bomb!
However, I'm not so sure that the British empire was bigger then the Mongolian, like LMH says, neither is wrong. Although I've always learned in history that the Mongolians had the biggest.
I've always learned that the British was the largest, I think most sources point to that, however it's always noted that Mongolia has the largest continuous empire as they never went over seas like the British.
I guess it has something to do with Dutch history as well. We never liked those brits very much, hence we fought 5 wars against them. 😉 So our history books state that the Mongol empire was the largest ever. I'm Dutch, so that's my belief too! 🙂
How many correct answers did I get? Can I trust my gut feeling? 6 or more right is good 😛
You got 5 correct.
Congratulation Bombay !!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations!!! Interesting article 🙂
