Political Party Politics in eRepublik
Xavier Griffith
We all know in eRepublik that there are Political Parties. We all understand that for those that want to be involved in an eNations political area that we must be a member of a Political Party to be able to do that.
The question arises though does being in a political party and the actions of those in that political party reflect upon the Political Party as a whole?
One needs to realise that just as in Real Life Political Parties, many Political Parties in eRepublik are formed around specific Ideologies that they tend to push within a Nations Government Policy. That pushing of their Party’s Ideology is all well and good and is to be expected, its what makes the game of politics exciting and interesting for those that play the game for that specific reason.
What needs to be discussed and looked at is whether as a political party, pushing, sprouting and striving to achieve its political agenda and ideology within government policy in each nation whether that party is responsible for the comments and statements of each individual member of that party.
This would have to be true, after all these members represent the action and political agenda of the Party. Although Party Presidents have no way of actually removing or stopping membership of people in the party, there is a responsibility to the Party and its image that it needs to do something to distance itself from those that may be causing the parties image to fail or be discredited.
Political Parties rise and fall on their members. If the Party can’t control its members, or do something to ensure that the Party distances itself from those that they believe are portraying an image that is not in the best interests of the Party, then in effect by doing nothing they endorse the Member and their actions as acceptable by the Party as a whole.
The Australian Military Party (AMP) resorted to bullyboy tactics, trolling individuals that might have disagreed with them, making accusations against others, accusing them of various things and actions and constantly harassing others that refused to agree with them or accept their ideology or point of view, much of which was done in the eRepublik News articles in an attempt to discredit those that spoke out or opposed them with the Public. What was interesting about the AMP was that they did it while holding a strangle hold on the Prime Minister's position in the game of which no other Party could break, except of course, myself as an independent. Interestingly enough, the ones that did stand up to them in the Senate, and became the brunt of these personal attacks, public accusations on eRepublik and were harassed were some of the current Senior Members of the ANP as well as me.
It was stated that this wasn’t the whole Party, it was a few limited members of the Party, but the Party didn’t distance itself from these people or demand that things stop. The outcome: The AMP is no more. See a pattern here do we?
The Australian Independent Party in this matter is slightly different. Each person is an Independent, an Individual that does not wish to be dictated to by a Political party and that may be required to “toe the party line”. Independents are generally centrist in nature and tend to look only at what they see is in the best interest of the Nation. That view or “personal” ideology is solely limited to the individual and not espoused by the Australian Independents Political Grouping as a whole.
This doesn’t mean that an Independent member will not side with another Political Parties views on a specific agenda in the Senate if they believe under their own personal ideology that the cause or agenda in question would benefit the Nation as a whole. It’s still a personal choice in relation to what they believe and every Australian Independent is free to have their own view of things politically, its what being an Independent is about. There are even Independents that don’t agree with other Independents.
Some seem to think that being an Independent means that you will remain outside of Political Party infighting, that you will sit there and not support or reject something that you don’t believe is in the best interests of the Nation. This is NOT the case at all. As Independents are generally centrist in the their Ideology it means that no political party can believe that every independent will accept or reject their own Party’s Ideology when trying to push that ideology in Governmental policies.
Remember, those of us in Politics are here because we enjoy it. It’s inevitable that there is going to be political banter going back and forth and that some are not going to agree with things done and set up. That’s Politics. If you’re in politics in this game and you can’t handle the “Democratic” principle and practice that you so often claim you support by being elected as a Senator, then get out of politics, Democracy is not always fair and we as politicians don’t always get what we want, either individually or as a Party.
Get over it, move on and either do something to change it or stop crying about it. Frankly, Nobody else really cares except others playing politics.
The Troll Patrol may now commence its Venomous Trolling and personal attacks🙂

Agreed, good article.
The question remains XG - why did the constitution go to a referendum?
Further more, WHY as speaker did you place on the act in the policies section that it went to a public vote, when it had not?
The AMP versus ANP garbage was more about 2 or 3 members of each party who kept having a go at one another. Everyone has tried to turn that into more than it was. It also had no bearing at all on why the AMP no longer exists. The AMP is no more because the party was taken from us and nobody who cared enough, or who had the gold, wanted to fund a new one.
So since the Australian Independent Party doesn't consider itself a political party, even though game mechanics tell a different story, that you guys don't have to distance yourself from extremists from within? It sounds like you are trying to say you guys are better than everyone else, but I shall let others decide.
Thankfully the ANP, Australia's oldest party, is here to continue fighting for freedom and less red tape.
The ANP that was created for what you mention Infin is now dead. The Party has never been less interested in democracy or less red tape than it is now.
Typical XG, trying to blame the opposition to the crappy constitution on political parties specifically the ANP
AS previously said for the 506th time now, it's got nothing to do with political parties.
Your constitution is crap and people from every single political party is opposing it.
Get it through your head kid.
"The Party has never been less interested in democracy or less red tape than it is now."
Why do you purposely say things that make no sense whatsoever? The ANP is fighting for democracy and less red tape. YOU are fighting for less democracy and more red tape.
I find this an interesting perspective on politics XG.
It does amuse me that Docter Dry and Goose Step obviously can not read !
I found no mention of "constitution " in this article. All I found was a persons own perspective on politics ; which is everyones right regardless of wether they speak about it publicly or privately !
Thanks Sam. It wasn't about the constitution but about whether a Political Party made up of those that espouse the same or similar ideology as the party is responsible for it's members and the comments and/actions as a party and whether those things affect the image of the Party as a whe over all.
Trolls will be trolls though.
