PEACE Offensive Falters - Resistance Wars Grow

Day 608, 06:25 Published in Austria Austria by Rangeley

In a surprise move, a retreat was ordered by allied defenders in both Manitoba and Idaho - but this was merely a set up for what was to follow. Shortly after news broke of these retreats, more news emerged that three new counter-offensives had been launched against PEACE GC. The timing of the counterattacks, and the placement - Alaska, Washington, and Manitoba - caught PEACE GC off guard, and quickly these battles came to an end, with the defending alliance successfully retaking the territories.

Though the defenders have had successes before, these were the first successes in taking back previously lost land - a particularly striking development in the course of the war. This comes at a time that resistance wars against PEACE GC forces are becoming more and more frequent. There are currently wars of resistance in Idaho, Prince Edward Island, Heilongjiang, Madhya Pradesh, and Burgenland. Though not a part of the conflict directly, Indonesia lost one territory to Australia in a territory exchange.

As the war enters its second week, it still remains too early to determine who possesses the definitive upper hand. The offensive by PEACE GC has successfully occupied new lands, but it has lost battles for others, and now even lost territories it previously took, both to counter-attacks and resistance wars. Battles are currently being waged in Utah, Oregon, and Quebec, with the defenders holding the upper hand. The result of these battles could show whether there is a true momentum shift taking place. The Austrian Independent will follow these events as they develop.
