OPERATION "TIN CAN" PART I

Day 4,127, 10:23 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by nutty fox

The moon was shining and the waters were calm, in the silhouette of the u-boat was the only thing to be seen in the horizon. It was making its way closer to the eGerman waters and the question were, go to a port or park the sub at safe distance from the shore?

There was a heated discussion to be heard coming from the captains cabin. Do we pretend to be here on a trade mission or do we send just a few dwarfs on a dingy to meet with the support group waiting on shore.

Earlier they have abandoned the idea to drive from eNL across the border to eGermany. The reason was simple, the border guard activity had risen and they were looking for something.
Most likely some counter intelligence reports had been handed over to the eGerman intelligence agencies and they had told the local border guard and police to keep their eyes extra open.

Finally they agreed to send a small party with the dingy to meet the local contact on shore, who would provide with transportation. They also decided to move the u-boat to the closest port to get some provisions and possible do some business on the side.

They killed the motor and few flashes from the led flashlight towards the shores and they waited for signals back.

Few painstaking moments later few flashes was seen and they started the motor and speeded up to the meeting point.

They landed near Cuxhaven, this place was chosen because near by airfield Cuxhaven/Nordholz. There was also two roads to choose nr.27 and nr.73. This place had the options of getting out by land, air or sea.

Editors note: Now you may wonder what on earth are they doing in eGermany because of this:
“The Historical Archives of the German Naval Staff was captured by British and American forces in April 1945 and held for many years by the British Admiralty. During 1945-1949, a microfilming program was undertaken in these archives by a team from the Office of Naval Intelligence. In addition to the films, this team acquired some duplicate copies of German documents, various historical studies prepared by German officer after the war, and miscellaneous translations of key German records. The microfilms prepared by the U.S. Navy (about 3900 reels) were transferred from the Operational Archives to the Military Reference Branch of the National Archives in increments between 1968 and 1978.”

Some of you might remember that the dwarfs had plans on trying to send a drone from the u-boat and they had learned they might find interesting plans and blueprints that had not landed in the hands of the allies of WWII.

In the blackness of the night they did a final check of bags and equipment. A van had arrived and was parked close by. They carried their stuff and got their gear into it.

The driver asked what route they wish to take and confirmed their target. “Take the road nr.73 and head to Hamburg”.

One of the dwarfs made a call on the satellite phone “Is the safe house ready”. The voice answered “Yes we are all clear to proceed”.

An other of the dwarfs back in the van was monitoring the police scanner and another took out a secured laptop that was equipped on monitoring local secret service messages. It was of most importance that they would be able to check if any one was on to them.

The van was now headed towards Seevetal where their safe house was located. Close to Hamburg and a crossing with 5 different major roads.

Mean while the u-boat was sailing on river and heading to Hamburg. They had made the radio calls to port authorities and customs as well. They were confident that none of the secret compartments would be found in the case of an inspection on board.

After the drive the van had arrived at the safe house and was now parked inside the garage, where they unpacked it before the driver would drive off and return it to the company they had rented it from. No stolen cars would be used in this operation to avoid any police interference.

Now they would rest and wait for local support team to arrive.

To be continued.
