Just some thoughts about the forums
LoyaltyMatters
First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who's been nice to me. I enjoyed reading all the comments. Most of them suggested staying and researching.
Which I tried. But it's much harder than I thought. Everything is disorganized. I know I was censured but I couldn't find information on how long and what that even means. But luckily I now know I'm not allowed to approve citizenship request from some Pizza the Hut guy. Useful information.
I guess there is a way to find everything you need, but that's not the point. It's not easy to find for a new player. And everyone is using some acronyms that I don't know what they mean. It's really confusing.
My thoughts are really scattered so I'll try to end this fast and just list my 3 main points.
1. The forums feel elitist. It's like a group of friends that decided to have all the control and work hard to keep it while pretending it's all in the interest of the eUSA citizens. There's also this hate for Phil Harmony which I didn't quite understand and I'm not sure when it's a joke and when people are serious about it.
2. The forums complicate everything. eRepublik is already a difficult game. There's so much you can do and you don't really know where to start. Forums bring another layer of complexity to this that will drive away new players.
3. The game is dead. There's 1700 active players in the USA. That's incredibly small. And instead of trying to bring in new people and keep them, which should be priority number one, the old players are more focused on keeping their power and worrying about dumb little things.

I understand your perspective but disagree with much of it.
eRepublik is not a difficult game. Complexity was attractive to new players at a time. The game is generally more simplified now than in the past. I do think forums have failed to streamline on pace with the game though.
As far as forums housing a group of friends, you're not entirely wrong. Most forums do. This is definitely not unique to this game.
I'll chime in with more specific thoughts in response to your points later. Gotta run for a holiday happening.
I agreed that eRepublik isn't that complex and I agree that on most forums housing groups of friends and that isn't wrong. Forums could help understanding the game and be a nice hub for new players. I don't think eUSA forums is doing that. It is useful for others I think (but not for me).
But if forums control everything they should not just be a group of friends in my opinion.
This is an error in your viewpoint. Forums control nothing. Players do.
Forums are one platform for communication and organization. eusa forums offer one avenue to connect with the community. They host a publicly accessible reference point for the guidelines generally agreed upon by the political community. If you disagree with those guidelines, they provide an avenue to change them. Alternately, you can pursue other avenues to influence change.
This eUS- Forum is no more!
Comrade, you're free like a bird!
LONG LIVE THE SFP!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
"The game is dead. There's 1700 active players in the USA."
It is even worse. About 300 do vote in elections, maybe 100 more that do not vote?
Good luck with your research. Have fun and stay tuned.
I just went by the numbers that erepublik gives.
The numbers are wrong. 100 mainly active players the most
All everyone needs to know going into congress... http://eusaforums.com/forum/index.php/topic,641.0.html
There are three links there eUS constitution, The code of the eus, and the library of congress.
i hope that is organized enough it should be bookmarked for reference. Dont get discouraged.
This game is easy, the meta is easy, you just dont like following someone else's rules, if you think the "current" meta is bad, you shoulda seen 2012 lol
Not gonna lie, this sounds like you've been a bit biased by your party-mates, especially since your quote from Phoenix Quinn is prime Franklin Stone propaganda.
The forum provides additional aspects of the game. With very rare exceptions, no one is blocked from participating there. If it was as elitist as you've probably been told, why would the ruling elite continue to allow dissenting opinions to be posted all over their forum?
I will wash your pig-disgusting mouth with soap because you dare to speak the name PQ.
And since when do you think we care what elitist peasants have to say?
Step on a Lego and take a chill pill, Phil.
Phoenix Quinn, Phoenix Quinn, Phoenix Quinn.
Also, "elitist peasants" wtf does that even mean? You're not the sharpest crayon in the box, are ya?
Elitist because you are one. If you don't know the meaning of "peasant" try wikipedia 😉
Those two things are opposite, you oxymoron.
Why are elitists not allowed to have peasants?
I have no idea who Phoenix Quinn even is and I don't know much about Franklin. I just liked the quote and felt it represented my view
Like I said, very few people have ever been prevented from posting on that forum, and those were cases where they broke the forum terms of service through illegal activities, harassment, etc. Opposing views are not suppressed, but rather are as plain to see as the "elitist" ones.
No, they're not suppressed. The holders of them are harassed, harangued, ridiculed and abused.
It's left in plain view so everyone who has an alternative viewpoint can see what happens to dissenters
The other side of the aisle rejects opposition with the same vehemence, Ilene.
Your side of the aisle is the one who harasses, harangues, ridicules, abuses and blacklist dissenters and in fact are in the process of banning entire parties....
Is that meant as some kind of justification dmjohnston? What sort of childish, puerile tripe will come along next?
The current system is designed to be exclusive and keep control in a handful of "safe" hands. This was deliberate, because the system was designed to keep AJ Bruno, AFA et al away from the levers of power. It works (worked) well, in that respect.
It is time for a new system. One that is adapted to the low numbers of active and engaged players. And low votes - 350 to elect nearly 60 congress reps?!
Ilene, no, it's not. Last month Naz put up a proposal to completely dismantle the current system, but your party overwhelmingly declined the chance. Why?
You're entitled to your opinion. I can observe dissenting views without getting abusive. 🙂
I'm not in congress, and haven't been for months. I only had the vaguest notion of what you were talking about (half arsed media from a few people), but took the time to read more.
I don't know why the party declined to participate (I no longer regularly go anywhere game related that is third party) and can only speculate. My speculation is that the June delegation thought it was trolling, or an entrapment attempt. YMMV on that.
That proposal never looked serious.
I can answer that, Naz.
We don't need to vote at all, if we decide to leave.
We've decided to leave.
Now you can take your meta-forum, your constitution and laws and you can eat them, smoke them or stick them where the sun don't shines.
WE DON'T CARE!
I never commented on this thread and you're talking to me.
Somehow all pig-disgusting elitists sound the same to me 😃
Whoever this "Phoenix Quinn" person is, he (she?) sounds awesome.
I've heard that "Phoenix Quinn" is/was super-good-looking too, right?
I heard he was some seedy old man?
Hmm, now that you mention I did hear that he was like 1,000 years old.
You shouldn't be forced to use additional aspects of the game though. If a player just wants to play eRepublik by eRepublik's rules he should be allowed to. They signed up for that, hence the quote.
You are allowed to just play erepulik thats called the game. The Meta-game is however more difficult and has more rules hence the additional trophy (that is now worthless thanks admins) Of-course it is more difficult to be a congressman or help run the game but you need to follow decorum.
Nobody is forced to play via the meta game. Many a congressman over the years have never posted there, and nobody cared.
Meta game makes the rules that you're harrased for not following. That's close to forcing.
Guess following rules just wasn't his thing.

Let them talk to the hand LOL
Does SFP still follow their Constitution? I ask mostly because I'm curious.
Sure we follow our constitution!
Loyalty Matters, this is the most accurate view on the forums I have seen thus far. I'm glad you've been able to reflect and possibly find a place in this dying eWorld. Makes me wish I had been able to "do my job" and work with you. Much potential.

"There's also this hate for Phil Harmony which I didn't quite understand"
well it may take some time but you will my friend, you will....
You seem to know much about hate, please do elaborate...
LoyaltyMatters, I'll give you my 50 cents: If you can convince a lot of people in a party about your very correct thoughts and declare that party ISN'T gonna follow any forum but only newspaper articles and MassPMs to debate and votation for congressmen and citizens (because you're playing in eRepublik, not in a random forum), maybe in that way you could find a solution to the problem you're suffering.
Greetings.
I'll give you 50 cents, too! 😃
What if I find 2 parties?
