First observations

Day 1,761, 08:50 Published in USA USA by Jefferson Locke

From what I've seen from the other articles, blogs, or whatever you would like to call them, there seems to be a leaning towards pictures. While I would love to follow this trend, let me start this first post out with a disclaimer: I suck at inserting graphics. It took me five minutes to put a gif into the feds "lets dance" forum for the love of God. So, I'll do my best to spice it up this first time, but if it doesn't work, then remember that patience is a virtue.

There are a few things that I've noticed, and I feel they are important enough to discuss with the 0-1 person that will be reading this. The first is parties, and the importance of them. I chose to be in the federalist party, `mostly because of this article by fingerguns and the fact that I have actually read the federalist papers. They are a top five party, which from my understanding means that they can have a candidate in all 50 something districts, which seems rather important because of this thing I have learned about over the past day, the dreaded PTO.

Apparently, there are other countries out there who spend a lot of time figuring out how to politically invade us. Since we have a rather large treasury, and a good amount of resources, we also have a big ass bulls-eye on our backs. Just recently, from what I read here..., we actually gave up territories in order to help contain the PTO threat. Please keep in mind that I am not "in the know" or sitting at the cool kids table yet, but it seems to me as if this does not address the problem. It's putting a band-aid on a missing finger. While it might do some good in the short term, it should only be acceptable if it is a part of a LONG TERM PLAN.

From what I have seen so far, and again, that is not much, the best way to counter-act PTO's is to have the strongest party system possible. There should, at all times, be AT LEAST six strong parties. This would stop those who wish to do us harm from being able to list candidates in every district, thus stopping them from allowing citizens from other countries in the country that want nothing more than a PTO. This would also help to ensure that the people put forth for elected positions would be stronger as well by helping to foster competition and debate between the parties. The solution seems to be simple. Strong parties lead to Strong Countries.

I understand the urge for a president not to get involved in parties, and I certainly cannot pretend that I am knowledgeable enough to pass judgement or make decisions on that level. But it is my opinion, and again, it is only an opinion, that the giving up of Indo and Spanish colonies is not a solution, but a reaction. One of the most important functions is to protect the nation from outside threats. While it would be wrong in every imaginable way to take away or challenge the sovereignty of the parties, the government can create policies that help to strengthen our political parties, which would also help new members (such as myself) get involved, thus keeping new members around and active.

Hopefully this made sense. And hopefully the various links and picture showed up 🙂.

Most importantly, hopefully my article wasn't .....what's the word i'm looking for...........
uninformed nonsense. If it was, hey, i'm a newbie, screw it 🙂
