Does dictatorship meta now?

Time to end the dictatorship...
With it looking more and more likely that the eUK's getting its backside in gear and removing the meta legislation that was created to allow our Constitutional Dictatorship to work, we now need to seriously consider ending the Dictatorship entirely.
The cost of a MTO has risen considerably so it removes the opportunist twazzocks from giving it a go, although admittedly those serious MTOers would still be able to raise the £1m relatively easily if they so desired. However why would they want to? We've got no bonuses to speak of, so it would only be for "larks" and why waste £1m on that?
We all love Woldy, but...
As much as we can all rely on Wolds to use common sense to run the country for us, I think it would be immensely handy for the country to return to the good ol' cut and thrust that comes from a CP and Congress having access to buttons.
The eUK has become rather stale lately and no, I'm not referring to the state of Jamesw's underwear. With access to in-game laws returned, it would mean CP and Congress elections would be so much more important. It might even lead to some excitement again!
So what now then?
FightAndProduce has published a lovely article on getting rid of all the meta legislation. I would like to propose a secondary vote in this article, which won't necessarily be binding, but will definitely gauge Congress (and the eUK public's) views on removing dictatorship.
So if you'd like to make your feelings known in the comments we can hopefully get the ball rolling on this.

My choice would be for a return to full in-game democracy. But then I support Leyton Orient FC, so I must be mental, right?
No you aren"t mental Wook 🙂
Thanks Aleks....that means a lot coming from you 🙂
You do have to be pretty mental to support Leyton Orient, not as crazy as an Arsenal fan though
Maybe this is crazy, but couldn't Woldy just run for CP. Is it that hard Woldy?
Same stuff going through my mind. I'll refer back to this article when I'm CP 🙂
It"s about time that UK ends the Dictatorship once and for all and Meta Congress too.Better back on in-game democracy rather have Dictatorship no matter how that Dictatrorship will look like.
I am in favour of going back to full democracy.
Yes, with the caveat that we try and acquire the money from outside of the government if possible :^)
one question:
who's paying the 1m cc? if its the government then its a no from me
Wayne?
nick
MedAl hunters
I'm in favour of full democracy.
And I'm interested in seeing what happens if Woldy simply leaves the MU
It's like dividing by 0
he cant
Q: Can I resign military unit if I'm the dictator and the only member of the unit?
A: It is not possible to resign if you are a dictator and the only member in the unit. You have to invite or allow another citizen to enter the unit and make him commander before resigning.
Bah! Loophole closed.
ill enter the MU just in case
Supported
So the country spends 1M? Not sure if its worth it. If some private individual (i believe Nick is raising money) gathers the amount then I'm alright with it. But the country's accounts? No.
That said I am not a congressman so 😛
Everybody's making this assumption when nobody at all has specifically said "the government has to pay for it"
god damn it guys think bigger
No one has said the government wont be paying either by that same logic 😛
But it's also why I posted where I stand on both scenarios.
gotta dream big
In theory, good idea to restore democracy, at least now while we're not even a tasty morsel anymore. But in practice the cost outweighs the benefits. I do not support government funds being used for this purpose.
Now if it were just about anyone but Woldy, I'd be out with the begging bowl myself, trying to help raise funds, but we've got the best of both worlds with our King in the role of Dictator.
As for a stale Congress, well, I'll take this stale one over the trollfest we had before. I think that probably lost us more members than a dull one could ever do.
Nobody has seriously suggested we pay for it from the Treasury. If we end up agreeing to remove the dictator, it should be relatively easy to find the funds to do this. There are enough medal hungry, rich players out there.
My slight concern with the alternative is we're moving closer to the point where we rip up all the legislation that has guided what we do as a Congress, which I'm all for. However it'll then be down to Woldy to basically run the show.
I'd rather it were Woldy than anyone else, but I wonder if he'll want to do it for the foreseeable future.
I am with Madelina on this one.
It is probably unwise just to throw everything we have out of the window at once - most of the legislation we have has good reason for being implemented, and some of it is still hugely relevant.
However, without an efficient speaker/civil service, the process of Government cannot work. So - unless we find a suitably skilled and commited volunteer to fill this role we are going to struggle with continuing our current meta-government.
