Citizen fee dropped to 10NOK - Inflation slowing!
Aquatica
As those, that follow the news, know that the citizen fee has been changed from 30NOK to 10NOK - so there would be no need to print even more NOK for the country, where inflation would happen due to even more money making it out there.
Now, new citizens start with 10NOK, that is more than enough for them to survive. Instead, they cannot go out and buy house full of guns or luxury 5-star foods that are on the market, but would have to think a bit about their choices. Life isn't easy, you know?
We do not intend on limiting the ability companies have to sell stuff, but if we kept the 30NOK citizen fee, eventually we would have had to print even more money out, which would mean higher inflation... Economy is fun thing to deal with, when it works - hateful job and punishment where economy has more or less failed. Let's hope we'll be able to keep it up and running, and even help it heal itself a bit!
EDIT: I forgot to add the percentages... As I recall, yesterday inflation was around 4.32%, today it is only mere 3.82%. So it would seem that it is getting better - I'll be keeping watch in this!

Talking about inflation. Have you checked gold markets lately. Gold is cheap and price (vs. NOK) is still dropping fast. Gold is going to be eRuble in no time.
If you have any spare Noks, now is the good time to change into gold.
In eNorway at the moment there are no inflation, the opposite, and there are in the near future no danger of inflation.
To print more money when 800 people enter within less than one week is not wrong it will only stimulate the economy
What you have done now is
1. Strangled the economy.
2. Given our new citizen no hope of starting anything, no weapon, no houses, just keeping alive.
3. Taken the fun of the game away.
4. Securing your own position as prominence with houses companies, weapons, wellness and so on.
5. Take away from our new citizens the possibility to become a military strength
6. Secure that half of our new citizens will die within the next month or a little more by the two click cancer.
We have more than doubled our citizens within a week, what we need is not less money, it is more money. Increase the fee and print.
In my opinion the biggest flaw is getting FIVE gold per every friend you invite into eRepublik. That\'s 25 gold made in like five minutes or so. Of course it USED to be more valuable asset in NOKs than it\'s now... but still you need work your ass off to get similar money as fresh eCitizen.
Cut the crap, Anders., it\'s a 20 NOK difference.
Tauno you are right.
Every new citizen is trying to buy better food or weapons with that 25 gold.
They are changing GOLD to NOK with awful rates.
Value of gold is coming down surely even more if congress is not going to do anything about it.
actually i think it wouldnt be bad to inflate the economy since we arent allowing any imports anyways, it wouldnt matter, it would just add liquidity and make exports easier.
Espoorican you are absolutely right, the rate is terrible, you have gold but you do not get a lot of money for it.
I would say an acceptable rate would be that for 1 gold you should get about 33 NOK. For that to happen we need to print more money not reduce the fee by 2/3.
Gjok and co. is parking the economy.
Watch your language Gjok, it tells the people two things, your lack of behaviour and your lack of argumentation.
Eh...I had to wait a really long time until I could get a job. I didn\'t buy guns or houses, just 1 star food. This doesn\'t seem all that wise to me because I got pretty close to death. If the unemployment rate was lower, I\'d support this, but, well...
Perhaps you can explain these points for me, Anders.:
\"2. Given our new citizen no hope of starting anything, no weapon, no houses, just keeping alive.
3. Taken the fun of the game away.
4. Securing your own position as prominence with houses companies, weapons, wellness and so on.
5. Take away from our new citizens the possibility to become a military strength
6. Secure that half of our new citizens will die within the next month or a little more by the two click cancer.\"
It\'d also be great if you you stop claiming that \"we\" are ruining the economy after proposals have gone through and actually start voicing your opinion in the Congress forum.
And you blaming me for allegedly \"parking the economy\" doesn\'t make any sense.
I\'m with Gjok here - it\'s not like you could\'ve bought a house with that 30NOK either. The one most basic need is food, and with the food prices in eNorway today, you simply can\'t be too poor to eat. A larger citizen allowance is nice, but it\'s not mandatory - and, at least if you look at suggested exchange rates (I have absolutely no idea how often they update, though), 10NOK is still way more than the citizen allowance in many other countries.
Gjok, this is the best Congress forum, for everybody to read not your club in a privat forum which is not the Congress.
Stop acting like you have all the answer Gjok. I would like to express my opinion without you calling it crap.
Gjøk, you are attacking my opinion, do you have an opinion on your own?
You don\'t help the economy by less money, you strangel it.
The biggest proplem in this game is the lack of exitement, and you Gjok are not helping a lot with your taking away money from people.
Gjok
Lately you have made som funny remarks but you have not as far as I have seen come up with any idea on your own. It is called destructive.
\"privat forum\"
The Congress forum is open for everyone to read (as long as you\'re registered): http://erepublik.no/viewforum.php?f=29 . It is also way more practical to use a forum as - well - the Congress forum than using the media, for obvious reasons.
And if you want to have an effect on how Norway is run, you should consider voicing your opinion in said forum just like all the other Congress members, instead of using the media section to complain about how the country is being ruined after proposals have gone through. Alternatively, you could participate in each proposal\'s discussion topic as well, which would give you a better reason to complain in the media afterwards. But then of course you\'d also risk that your opinion would actually be heard, so I\'m guessing thats a \"no go\".
Anyway, receiving 10 NOK instead of 30 NOK doesn\'t take away any \"fun\". In fact, I don\'t think the new citizens will even notice... I\'d still like to hear a proper explanation of the points I quoted in my previous post.
*insert witty remark about the irony of you calling my behavior destructive here*
Gjok \"The points quoted\". First it is taken out of context. secondly you are just copying, I suppose you are not a reproducing maskin. Try to make up your own mind about the following:
The ecomomy needed more money to be printed, so one bright idea comes up, instead of printing more money lets reduce the fee from 30 to 10 NOK.
So whats going on; yes you are doing two things
1. Giving less money out
2. not printing money.
Two factors that are in fact working in the same dirrection, stalling the economy. or is this wrong Gjok.
Private forum; because the moderators are not elected by the Congress.
Forconin can alter what has been posted. He can let people inn as he like, and shut them out as he like. He has made his own rules, not the Congress.
The congress men are not let in from day 1.
Congress members are let in as soon as they ask for access.
Feel free to create as many \"conspiracy theories\" as you like, but IMO the solution we have now with a forum on erepublik.no is working out fine. I don\'t see the point in speculating whether the moderators are changing our/their posts or the polls (if that\'s even doable) or not, as we\'d have the same problem in any other forum. An in-game forum for Congress members would be the best solution, but at the moment that isn\'t possible.
I like where the \"discussion\" about the actual article is headed though... I asked you first!
With an ecomomy with a pace such as eNorways, reducing citizenship allowance does indeed hinder economy and cement ownership and businesses even more to old regimes. In fact, if population growht is huge inflation is best way to - in a somewhat controlled manner - equalize ownership from old money to new money.
I am with Anders here, reducing the citizen fee just allows \"old\" eRepubliks to keep getting richer while the newcomers are fuked big time. Even though the difference between 10NOK and 30 NOK is small, creating joint ventures just got harder. So fewer companies keeping the competition up and more money for the oldies with their already well established SOs.
Now these SOs will have even greater power over salaries since even surviving just got almost impossible. One has to approve every 1NOK job offer just to keep alive. This change actually just makes these new people Tamagotchis of Erepublik. They have no other use than to come by once a day, train &work and keep buying that cheap food.
I am actually quite disappointed that SF decided to go this way. It really ruins the game for the newcomers. But in the end thats what we/they are to these people. Cannon fodder.... Really disappointed to this change and I guess one could say that SF just ass-*aped most of Finnish eRepubliks.
I agree with Ville. I\'m disappointed too.
It is a bit let down. ONLY thing SF has been able to do with it\'s newly gained power is reducing new citizens money. And new citizens are almost 100% finns. What are they thinking in SF? I think this newbie ass*ape only plays against finns unity.
Oh come on.. As far as you know, 30-10 NOK is a 20NOK reduce.. When you start working with a 1.00 skill, you get approx. 2-3NOK per day in salary. Which means you will earn 20-30NOK within 10 days (and then I haven\'t taken a salary raise at 2.00 skills in consideration),,
A big advantage with this 10NOK citizen fee is that a new citizen is rich enough to live long on Q1 foodz, but he is not that rich that it is smart to buy only Q4 foodz, which you were able to do with 30NOK.. And with approx 2500 Q1 foodz on the market, we need to get rid of some of this..!
Not one Finnish company offered me a salary higher than 1 NOK per day when I started. Please show me a company that will give me 4-6NOK per day now that I have 2 skill and you will be my friend forever.
Q1 food is a joke. You barely stay alive. And with military training you slowly fade away,
10 NOK is enough to survive at least for 20 days, plus the original 50 wellness. If you don\'t have a job after 20 days, you must not be looking hard enough. The inflation used to be around 15%, it\'s dropped to a fifth of that and that\'s great.
I got 30 NOK when I started, bought tons of food, a gun, donated to my party, participated in the lottery and still had money left. 10 is plenty.
May I point out that the reduced citizen fee also hurts the overall productivity of eNorway, because new citizens don\'t have any means to quickly raise their wellness. On the contrary, if they are to train and work at the same time, their wellness may very well actually drop.
And if the rising skill level and fading wellness result in stagnant productivity, what reason would employers have to raise salaries? No reason, except for charity, which companies aren\'t supposed to exercise. Present government has successfully created an easily controllable \"serf caste\" out of the starting players (and SF has lost a member).
BTW, isn\'t light inflation actually a good thing. Deflation is what you should be worried about, because it will stagnate and kill economy and deflation might very well be what the government just managed to cause. Also just printing new money doesn\'t necesserily even cause any inflation, especially if there are tons of new citizens to share the pool.
@MArse,
15% is not \"light inflation\", even 4% isn\'t light inflation, but it\'s getting there.
