Announcing my candidacy for UIP Party President

Day 1,177, 10:29 Published in USA USA by ssomo

(Note: A longer version of this was published on the UIP forum about a week ago.)

Well, the day has arrive😛 I’ve done the thinking, I have a plan, and I’m announcing my candidacy for UIP PP.

Why am I running?

In a wor😛 Opportunity.

The eWorld is changing, globally and domestically, and the UIP has some important strengths and strategic advantages that no other party has. As a group, we have an opportunity to exploit these advantages to better ourselves, our party, our nation, and maybe even our world. Likewise, we have some opportunities to do things we already do differently. These too can grow the party & our influence.

Have I done this before?

No. I’ve never run for UIP PP.

I’ve run for Congress and won (my overall record is 5-2). I was a member of the JCS, as the head of the US Home Guard, during WW3. I got to the JCS by rising through the ranks from enlistee. I’ve served on the Economic Council with One Eye, Jewitt, Pearlswine, and Publius.

In Congress I was a strong independent voice, and served as the budget committee chair during the earliest budgets under Scrabman.

What UIP means to me

Let me be clear: ‘Independents’ is our middle name. That’s not a mistake & it’s not an accident.

We’re not here to be yes men, stooges or doormats for anyone. Period. We make decisions and take action based on our own judgment after doing our own homework.

But by the same token, the UIP is not ideological & we value individuals as individuals. The UIP doesn't perform a litmus test for its members. We welcome new people, and we invite and include all views. We respect all views and, IMO, that makes it a nonpartisan group. This nonpartisan quality is why I joined UIP during MedyPi’s PP two years ago and never really left.

For more info, the UIP wiki page explains the UIP philosophy quite well.

Wrap up

I don’t really look forward to running against Princess MedyPi for PP because she’s the one who welcomed me to UIP two full years ago. Her priorities and platform are similar to mine. So, in some ways, we are two sides of the same coin. Pearcey is also a worthy candidate and I’m glad he’s in the race.

The UIP is my home in this game. I look back at the past, and I see where we are now & I know we have better days ahead. You’ll have to decide if my vision & my leadership are what you want in the month to come. I ask for your vote. Thank you. 😃
