A Deeper Evil?

Ethic of Reciprocity.
I look around me right now and I notice everybody has forgotten something really quite important.
This thing we have all forgotten is the Ethic of Reciprocity. For those that hate elitist wordiness that’s “do to others as you would like to have done to you”.
From wikipedia:
The ethic of reciprocity, more commonly known as the Golden Rule, is an ethical code that states one has a right to just treatment, and a responsibility to ensure justice for others. Reciprocity is arguably the most essential basis for the modern concept of human rights, though it has its critics. A key element of the golden rule is that a person attempting to live by this rule treats all people, not just members of his or her in-group, with consideration.
It would really make a big difference if people looked upon their own articles and comments and thought to themselves “what would I think if somebody wrote this to me”. Or better yet consider what your response would be if the person whom you dislike most wrote that comment to you. Let that be the guiding hand for your judgment on weather to post it or reword it and try again.
Also let us not forget a great quote from a great man.
so that we consider the chain of revenge before we seek it for ourselves.

Gandhi was wrong. An eye for an eye only makes half the world blind.
Can't poke out someones eye if your blind already amirite?
Slave- Way to shed light on some recent events. You are correct, we should all do this. I will try to incorporate this philosophy into my writings......
Actually, this golden rule is much more than that. The "do to others as you would have to have done to you" comes straight from the mouth of Jesus. But good advice, nonetheless.
jesus was reported to have said it, however it has been found in texts which pre-date him by as much as he pre-dates us.
i dont want to turn this into any kind of religious debate as i'm about as schooled in religion as a school child is in string theory but i find it very facinating that the same religion can preach to do unto others as you would have them do to you AND to take an eye for an eye when resolving ones conflicts.
No debate at all. Conversation finished. 🙂
Great advice in RL but it might make the game a little boring if it caught on too much here - not saying there isn't a time an a place for it here either, but if you take it too far you lose the ability to deter and repel those who would take advantage of passivity.
The "righteous" forces of EDEN overcoming the "evil" forces of PEACE makes for a great drama and it keeps this place hopping - in a rather bland RL world, its nice to come here and be able to deal in good old black and white for a change
oh no i'm not talking about extreme's like dont go to war with them because we dont want to be attacked or anything like that. i mean the game revolves around that kind of thing.
and i'm certainly not saying dont write aggressive articles or have amazing debates.
I'm more saying dont dish it out if you cant take it back. dont attack person A if you cant take them attacking you back. dont point out the flaws in somebody else's logic if you cant take them doing it back. Etc etc.
and just for the record as i know many in this game are not good at reading between the lines or catching subtle hints.
this article has absolutely nothing at all to do with PEACE GC or the current military situation.
😉 are you sure about that screamingslave? I was completely convinced it had nothing to do with me and everything to do with PEACE GC 😛
