[UK] Keeping You Informed

It's been a relatively quiet month so far, although we have signed a new MPP with our friends in Ukraine and I have received assurances that France will be willing to renew their MPP with us once circumstances dictate.

Training Wars

Both the American and Colombian Training Wars continue apace, and we have settled down into such a good routine in both wars that we don't have to shout multiple times across various channels to get Resistance Wars open. Hopefully this shall continue throughout the rest of the term, making our jobs all that little bit easier.

Foreign Affairs

Things are looking decidedly more interesting elsewhere in the world, with our staunch ally Bulgaria being the target of Colin's latest adventures. Meanwhile, Japan and South Korea appear to be the latest targets of the proxy wars which indirectly appear to put Pacifica against Asteria without any direct conflict. So yeah, interesting times...

Domestic Issues

I came under criticism of not focusing on domestic issues, home affairs and player retention recently. I do feel however that this is not the job of Government (or even Congress) but of the country as a whole. Following these criticisms, there has been a flurry of activity in the media, which can only be a good thing, and all without the need for an appointed Minister for Home Affairs, or Media, or whatever. Remember - the country is only as active as it's player base, so it's nice to see more than a couple of people posting articles.

In a more recent and serious development, it appears that TUP (or, more specifically, Madelina) has offered assistance in an attempt to influence the election of the Pirate Cat Party's presidential election. Considering the berating our membership have received from Congress members running on a TUP ticket, this is a two-faced attempt from a TUP member of high standing who I believed would have had better sense. I offer my premature congratulations to Pannonian Nomad for his victory.

The calls for a stronger government came with harsh, undeserving criticism followed by these critics (in government) creating activity in order to prove that the government shouldn’t be in charge of activity. Just because they did it on their own terms and not ‘forced by some loony dictator’ means that they should be allowed to do what they want, as long as it is creating activity. It’s like I am some kind of golden god...

I am glad that you have condemned other parties trying to influence other party's elections. I agree with you. I hope this will condemnation will extend to the UKPP's attempt to take over the People's Communist Party.

Hmmm, number one party discussing number two party's PP candidates in a party group message with suggestions to help one candidate over another vs. Wayne openly shouting to vote for Zaphod, one of PCP's best presidents, I don't know about any organised UKPP attempt on the Communists or any party discussions on that subject.

Also now I see why TUP gives you another those places for Congress, even though your party has only 8 members - they suck more than communism...

Just because Wayne says it doesn't make it Pirate Cat (at least call the party by it's current name) policy.

Furthermore, I always thought that Zaphod was first and foremost a Communist and visited us for the banter, which is significantly more exciting than debating which Soviet leader was best.

the first; it's exactly the same thing you used to critisize my presidential terms and terms in which I served in the cabinet (one of the things you used) was player retention and not helping our player base stay involved. So I am glad that you finally get to experience this particular criticism

Not sure if I criticised Government for player retention, more for a lack of transparency from Government into what was happening, both domestically and - more importantly - internationally. I'm still firmly of the opinion that keeping people informed is far more important than giving them the odd quiz to do, but maybe that's just me...

One comment: when it is TUP influencing, so it is your party. You stade it is some people of your party not the party, so likewise one (afaik) of mine. Appreciate if it isis concordant in future.

Yeah, TWs are boring but they give plenty of opportunity to get shinies and cold, hard cash. Aside from Mexico attacking Cuba, there's not a great deal going on right now (even Colin's mighty wallet hit something of a brick wall against our Bulgarian allies). We're not in a position to go on any "real" war adventures and with the lack of a wealthy patron in the mould of Colin, Trico or Alfagrem, it's unlikely we will be any time soon.

I did specify that it was Madelina, and not TUP in general, and since then many TUP members have distanced themselves from this.

I understand the arguments fir the TW, anf they have credits, but my opinion differs out the credits for me. Can live well with it and the TW are mostly well organized.
