[TRG] Socialist Freedom

Day 3,236, 22:38 Published in USA USA by J.A. Lake

It took losing our freedom, I think, for the poignancy of a name like the Socialist Freedom Party to become apparent. Many times Phoenix Quinn stated the anarcho-syndicalist roots of the party, but such terms are far too complex for a game like eRepublik. For months I tried to create a definition of socialism that would fit the game, and for months I failed.

All at once as I read the latest propaganda released by our captors did it finally strike me. There are two operative parts to the name: Socialist and Freedom.

Socialist

It's all in the name: social. eRepublikan socialism must be the belief that anyone and everyone is a part of the same (dwindling) community, and that as long as we forge friendships and brotherhoods we can overcome all the adversity and the obstacles placed before us by those who wish to obstruct us.

Much as in reality, there is nothing we can't accomplish when we link arms and work together, clichéd as that may sound. The SFP won't be subjugated, and come October we will retake the mechanical party.

Why do I say "mechanical"?

The SFP is still alive and well, sustained for the moment through a series of mass messages and forum threads. We are reorganized and prepared for the fight to retake the Party in October. If you wish to help, contact our interim Chairman Wooky Jack or the voting members of the emergency Revolutionary Committee Shiloh13, Franklin Stone, Jimmy Cincinnati or myself. If you have questions we will answer them or find someone who can, and if you want to know how we're going to retake the Party in October we'll let you know anything you need to prepare yourself for October 15. Message us about anything! We serve YOU.

Freedom

That segues nicely into the second theme of the SFP: Freedom. Anarcho-syndicalism was a long, collegiate way of saying we are free to do what we want and to organize as we'd like. That's always been the heart and soul of the SFP: volunteerism, democracy, and plain old freedom to be what you want and associate however you want.

It's gotten us in trouble before, most notably during the December Revolution nearly a year ago that saw twenty-four of us blacklisted by the eUSAforums crowd. The interesting thing is that we simply acted as an organ of the voting masses, not our own political entity. Democracy at work: the membership of the party wanted to fight the dictatorship and so we did, even to the detriment of the SFP at large.

That's what Socialist Freedom is about- forming a strong, open community and acting out its wishes in a democratic and fair fashion. We've stood by these twin pillars since 2009 and we shall continue to do so whether or not our party page has been defaced here. The SFP will live on because it's an idea that we've all contributed to and that we all have a joint interest in supporting and growing.

Long live the Socialist Freedom Party!
