[POTUS] On taking risks...

Day 3,350, 17:16 Published in USA USA by fingerguns

I have 2 more weeks as Dictator.

Not gonna lie, when you can see the end and there is no clear successor and you don’t plan on running again, the temptation to do something crazy is strong lol

I’m gonna try and go with ‘bold’ instead of ‘crazy.’ It’s a fine line, though.

It’s no secret that we have carefully established our foreign affairs over the months and years to ensure nothing ever happens. We did this on purpose, apparently. For the architects of this policy, this game must be bursting with intrigue and intense international politicking that is probably a whole lot of fun. I’m sure those couple of people are having a blast. For the rest of us, it is insanely boring.

This is the number one thing I hear from people- they want war. They want something to sink their teeth into. They want to take risks and do something interesting. They don’t want another cakewalk battle with murky reasoning and no tangible payoff that’s over in a week or two. People have been saying this on endless loop since I came back to this game. I knew I didn’t have a war plan or anything when I took over, but I hoped the fact that I wasn’t ingrained in the old system would make me more likely to take a risk.

And...I am. But despite the Dictatorship, I can’t act totally alone. I can’t be the only one who wants to take a gamble and risk losing because we’re all in this together. I think a big part of the hesitation to act by past Administrations is because of this feeling that you don’t want to be the person that ruined it for everyone. I get it.

So I have started a discussion for our Congressmen. Just like some of the other discussions I have started in private Congress, I pretty much already know which way it’s gonna go. But it’s the discussion part of it that I’m after. If you are bored, how much are you willing to risk? If you’re not bored and think things are going great, make your case to maintain the status quo. The plan I have put forward is really the most extreme thing I could think of that could actually be executed if for some crazy reason it were to move to a proposal and pass a vote. But my hope is that we start thinking in real terms about what we could do and how far we need to go to keep the interest in this game. I do not believe we can stay on this current path much longer if our goal is to get newer people into government and be more inclusive, or even if our goal is to keep getting the clicks of the 2 clickers.

Even if you’re not in Congress, you can participate in this discussion by writing an article and sharing your thoughts. We have a lot of regions. Are you willing to lose some, or even all of them, for the sake of new warring opportunities? Would you keep playing if we didn’t engage in a major war and just kept ourselves secure? Would you keep playing if we lost everything? What are you willing to give up to change the game?
