[PotUS] A Work In Progress

Day 4,600, 22:29 Published in USA USA by Tyler Bubblar

The community of the eUSA as it stands today is a bit different than the one I knew well nearly two years ago when I logged off to begin a cross country move. When I left my Federalist Party was firmly aligned as part of a governing coalition with USWP and WTP. Upon my return things had shifted a bit. Feds and USWP remained in virtual lockstep but we were also joined politically with SFP. WTP, our former political allies had changed from a very pro forum/meta to a mostly in game entity. It also became apparent to me that BSP had also abandoned the meta near completely. It is my view that we would all be better off if those two Parties rejoined the meta, but this article is not about that.

This article is about the suspicions that have permeated the way we view one another. Virtually every election cycle we brace ourselves for shenanigans from “the other side”. This statement applies to all. WTP and the Fed/SFP/USWP triumvirate. We all eye each other askance and expect the worst from one another. This race to the lowest common denominator will eventually end up in a loss for everyone. As President these last two terms I have made it clear that I will not support nor will I tolerate attacks on WTP’s sovereignty. My one caveat to that is that IES regulations are abided by. Beyond that if a Party chooses to do things a little differently who does this hurt?

So it is now that I urge everyone to try to give each other a break. It may be naive, but my method of gameplay in erepublik has always been to put my trust in others. Very rarely have I been burned by this. In fact far more often than not I have seen my faith in others rewarded beyond measure. It is my sincere hope that more will join me in this approach. I believe it would go a long way towards easing the tensions rife within our community.

This term is winding down rapidly. A few hours from this writing reset will bring us Congressional Elections. I will be honest. This term has been more challenging for my team and I than we anticipated. Last month we roared out like gangbusters. We were on a mission to bring the Departments and org newspapers back on line. We knew we had to come to an agreement of some kind with Asteria or we would suffer indefinite wipe. Congress was gridlocked more than I can recall ever seeing it. The month of May was fun, refreshing, and just blatantly rewarding. June has been more of a grind. We have come down from the initial sugar buzz of accomplishment to the realities of maintaining an active Executive.

At first glance I was a bit disappointed. We are just now rounding into the “new normal” with Asteria approximately 3 weeks later than hoped for. It has been a bit of a struggle getting fresh prios out on the regular. I believe this problem is if not solved at the least on the way to solve. A meeting of the NSC minds with KingTaco has led to breakthroughs in using the DOI site to keep prios updated. I know there are still calls for RW schedules. It is my hope this will give them the breathing room to do this. It’s a work in progress but we are focused on shoring up this area of need.

I do as always invite anyone who wishes to be a part of this to join us. Some might think I say this sarcastically but I could not be more sincere in this. During my first term as CP all the way back in 2014 I had an absentee Secretary of Education. MrCarey pointed this out to me several times. I let that derelict Secretary go, and invited MrCarey to be my new Secretary of Education. He accepted and did an amazing job. So really if anyone is interested in joining the Executive please contact me or DMJ. I do not play favorites. I do not see Party or ideology in teammates. I look for those with talent who care. That is my criteria for team building.

I have no doubt there will be complaints about not letting the Congressional Election play out first, but I am announcing here and now that it is my intent to seek reelection for a third consecutive term as President of the eUSA. Earlier in this article I highlighted areas that need shoring up. I will now highlight our buzzing Domestic Departments. The National Cooperative is beginning to find its footing but is still very open to new members looking to be a part of it. KingTaco is in the midst of getting the Cabinet to vote on the submissions for the Taco Party. There were a good amount of entries. Which is what makes events like that worth doing. We are working on something large to launch as well. I am researching Hadrian X’s Xlympics, Aramec’s Harvest Festival, WookyJack’s Federalist Zombie event, and a never quite launched Census from my first administration. These events will be privately funded. We will get launched in the next few days so win or lose this election the citizens of the eUSA will be able to enjoy it.

I have enjoyed these last two months. As I said this one has been more of a challenge. Things in eRepublik will always want to revert to the mean. It takes effort and commitment to keep these Departments and programs going. It is harder to work through partisan and personal animosity than it is to simply sink to that aforementioned lowest common denominator. To paraphrase President John F Kennedy: “We choose to do these things not because they are easy but because they are hard.” Because they are worth doing. We are better as a nation and a community when we strive to work together for each other.

eRepublik on its face is a subpar game. The game mechanics are lacking. In my view the in game tools are minimal. To me what makes this game so intriguing is the community and what we have built around it. Over the last two months I have had the opportunity to negotiate and meet with players from all across the world. I have had the chance to play and befriend people from all over the USA and beyond. I have been a part of seeing people from very different backgrounds come together and in the process of blending their talents and ideals forge bonds of friendship and respect. I have helped in some small way to hopefully make this game a little more worthwhile for the citizens of the eUSA. There is so much more I would like to say, but I will save it for another article. For now I thank you for reading and ask that you consider voting Tyler Bubblar for another term as President on July 5th 2020
