[LNN] Day 1,248 - Crossing Oceans

Day 1,248, 21:57 Published in Philippines USA by Hekter

I have no idea why I am using this title other than I interviewed the President of Uruguay, J. Pierre Darricarrere. None of the rest has anything to do with the ocean, unless you, like nevvven make a sport of punching sharks in the face.

This is what comes up when I google ‘Shark Punch’. The Internet is amazing.

Austria and Slovakia
Austria attacked and was repelled in Bratislava, Slovakia, as planned.

Taiwan (ROC) and China
Taiwan is declaring China as Natural Enemy to coordinate some swaps.

Today Malaysia and Indonesia signed an MPP.

A pony is running for Congress in South Africa. If you can say no to this, I am sure someone could use your happiness-strangling abilities.

How long have you been playing eRepublik?
Check my profile, you lazy bastard!

Shush 😛
616 days

What all have you gone through to end up where you are now, President of Uruguay?
Been very active 3 times congressman in eUruguay, and wrote 4 of the current 7 laws in eUruguay (the Congress, Citizenship, Army and Forum Administration charters/laws) of the other 3 laws, 2 are useless (one is a short law for presidential candidates debates that has never been used since I'm in the country, and the other is for a government position that has never been fulfilled since I'm here either) and the 3rd one is the Constitution 😛 so I basically wrote every useful law in here, plus other minor no-lifer executive actions around here.

When do you consider being the best time for you in eRep?
I really don't know how to answer that, there are no isolated moments, but it's rather a continuum. January was a great month, we were able to achieve so much. That may have been the best month.

For those reading that are unfamiliar with Uruguay, could you give a brief overview of Uruguay's foreign policy and history?
Uruguay, for its geographical position, has both a curse and a blessing we have no enemies we border with Argentina (who protected us from PTO and organized our country when it started) and with Brazil, which always offered us help when we needed it that made us traditionally fight only through MPPs we have a long-time history of close cooperation with Venezuela, for our similar size among other things and our traditional policy is: never fight a fellow South American nation. Not long ago Plato gave us a new border with South Africa. I was first time Congressman and MoFA at that time, and through extensive talks with the South African representatives (who were extremely distrustful at that time, but ended up becoming very close friends and allies with us), we ended up making our first direct War Game which ended with the Brazilian x South African diplomatic crisis, unfortunately, and here we are.

What were your goals coming into the Presidency this month, and do you consider yourself successful in executing them?
With the way the game is changing everyday, it's hard to make big plans. My government program, though, had proposals, which I think have been carrying out quite well. First of all, it was to keep a good level of activity. We call it the presidential curse: every president we have had, had connection or RL problems which didn't let them be as active as they were while not being presidents. Second, it was to keep the government plural, to welcome everyone in the government team, regardless of political parties. We've had some problems with parties turning into sects, and in February's government, you could only participate in the government if you were a member of the President's party. That forced the president to put extremely incompetent people in important places, and destroyed a lot of the previous government's work. Along with the terrible presidential inactivity, it made it the worst government I've seen so far in here. Those have been the main objectives, and I'd say we've been able to accomplish them mostly, with the number of people in the government having almost doubled since the last month's.
The rest of the goals are either executive (a must for every president), like keeping the population with wars in where to fight, through MPPs, keep the government programs running and such, or non-mandatory (goals in where we aim high, though it's not very probable that we'll achieve them, still not a reason for us not to try, right?), like trying to rent regions from our neighbors and trying to remake a wargame.

How does Uruguay and its populace view the aspirations and goals of Luna?
In Uruguay there is not much of a relationship with the countries involved in Luna, so it's hard to tell. The goals and aspirations are shared by almost all of the population (there is always some dissidence, no matter the issue), but the key for the alliance to excel (and not only work) is to create a common feeling of brotherhood. It's a long-term task, but we are working towards it. 🙂

How is Uruguay's military forces organized, and has Uruguay ever intervened in any conflicts?
The eUruguayan National Army (Ejercito Nacional eUruguayo) was completely disorganized before January. It had had a long inactivity period, making it de facto nonexistent. In January I worked very closely with the President and the MoD to reorganize it, wrote the new Army Law, and reactivated it, successfully participating in the War Game with South Africa. In February, though, the government changed, and the new president kicked out the MoD who had done such a great job, and placed one from his own party (you could only participate in the government if you were of the president's party, and the MoD was of no party), whose inactivity made the army get reduced to 3 active soldiers, me being one of those 3, just out of patriotism. It was another stasis for the army. In March we had a new MoD, who built the base of the current army, which has raised considerably to include a large chunk of the active population, with daily battles and ration-supplying. We have participated in trainings in South Africa, under their Army's guide, in order to learn from them, and in Brazil, in order to defend our fellow South American brothers from the foreign invasions. Once we improve even further our communication channels and production lines, we expect to participate in longer-ranged missions, maybe collaborating in Luna's efforts. 😉

Thanks, J. Pierre Darricarrere! Your name is absolutely impossible to remember!
