“What's the good of a home, if you are never in it?”
George Grossmith, The Diary of a Nobody

Dear and evaluated readers and you too, people of eRepublik. 😃
some week have passed since admins introduced the residence module, and it’s time to write a short guide on how optimize its usage and unleash all of its potential. Oh wait! We still miss a part of this module: the “city administration”. Nevermind. This is the “volume one”. A second volume will be released when (and if) the rest of the update will be implemented. So, let’s see how to be a perfect resident.

1) SHOULD I BE A RESIDENT?
You don’t have to. But once you do, you will always be a resident somewhere. So let’s see if residence fits your gameplay:

a ) THE REGULAR TWO-CLICKER: You should be a resident only if your holding is in a “town”, “large town” or a “city” or you can easily move without spending too much to work as a manager.
Why? You can optimize your daily tasks using houses. Just remember to activate them (use my "House Profitabilty Tool" to check how many house qualities are profitable for you) and work overtime every day.

b ) THE OCCASIONAL TWO-CLICKER: No, go back to enjoy RL, at least until your bf/gf breaks up.

c ) THE DAILY ORDER SOLDIER: You just work, train and complete DO everyday? Do that! Get your residence ASAP!
Why? You probably already own the +100 and +50 energy limit buildings. You will get +50 energy limit for becoming a resident, and, as long as you aren’t resident in an average or a big city, you can probably consider profitable both Q1 and Q2 houses. That will mean a further +50 and +80 energy limit. With a 830 energy limit you will be able to work, train and complete the daily order connecting to eRepublik just once every day. Maybe you can even WAM with the same amount of energy! Sounds cool, doesn’t it?

d ) THE NON-BUYING ACTIVE PATRIOT: You always fight for the same country, and you maybe even have your holding there. Take the residence in that region.
Why? You don’t need to move a lot. You will fight in MPP direct wars and in RWs if your country is occupied.

e ) THE WANDERER: You like mercenary medals, freedom fighting or moving for tasty COs. Stay ronin.
Why? The residence will double your moving costs, and considering you move 4-5 times a day, the costs aren’t the same as the benefits.

f ) THE BUYER: Come on. You don’t even care of what I write. You already use houses because your best friend Plato supplies you much better than my saving suggestions can do. Take your residence and store your c. card there.
Why? You like to say “because I can”. Adding something would just encourage you. And you will have several energy bonuses to feel more encouraged.

g ) THE HUNTER: If I was you I wouldn’t read this article. Go and watch your back from enemy hunters. Anyway you will be a happy resident for sure. Houses can give you a couple of big advantages in hunting.
Why? Because probably the hero medals you want are safer if you have more energy to increase your food fights.

You aren’t in one of the categories above? Mix them up and you’ll find that something suites you.
Let’s move on.

2) RESIDENTS HINTS

Some of you already took them in consideration. So now let’s see.

a ) Create the right browser environment for your new life: bookmark the changing residence page, the storage page (cause you don’t always need to waste your Q5 tickets to move) and install a countdown extension on your browser.

b ) Moving across the world for WAM is expensive if you go there everyday. Are you online at daychange? Move to your holding’s region at 23:55 erep time, WAM for the past day and stay there until the day changes and you can WAM again. A couple of tickets less everyday means 1,5 golds each week. Is it so bad saving?

c ) House usage.
First of all, if you connect daily or such, and you don’t already keep an active Q1 house, you’re doing wrong. Q1 houses cost a lot less than what you will earn with an average market wage through working overtime. That’s money you are throwing out of the window. Buy your Q1 house, keep it active and work overtime.
I am giving you big news: sometimes a Q2 house can repay itself with work overtime. But now you have a cost when you are a resident and you activate a house. Check my tool to verify your house profitability.

3) CONCLUSIONS

I'm on my way, I'm on my way
Home sweet home

Mötley Crüe, Home sweet home

Until we don’t have the full sight, we can’t give a complete judgement and the hints you can have are gonna be just a few. Someday another update will tell to us, residents or not, what’s the best to do.
Till then, just do your best to have fun!
