[EA] Easter Comes Early (Irish Historical Fiction Contest)
joey millz
Hello eIreland!
As I'm sure none of you noticed I've just come back from a small period of inactivity. Upon my return my party Eire Aonair had dropped significantly in standing, and thus I come to you with an Eire Aonair sponsored short story contest.
We want you to write us a short story from the perspective of an Irish soldier in 1916. The story can be anything from the thoughts of one soldier during a period of fighting or peace to a 3rd party account of battle (with real or fake details). This contest is open to all eIrish citizens, just send me (joey millz) your short story in a private message for judging by Eire Aonair members.
Now for the part you want to read about: the prizes. The prizes are based off the amount of entries we receive. If there are less than 10 entries one winner will receive 500 iep. For 10-14 entries grand prize will be 1,000 iep. For 15-19 entries grand prize will be 1,500 iep, and runner up shall reveive 500 iep. For 20-29 entries grand prize will be 2,000 iep, runner up will receive 750 iep, and 3rd place will receive 250 iep. If we get 30+ entries grand prize will be 3,000 iep, runner up will get 1,500 iep, and 3rd place will get 500 iep.
The 1st place winner in any scenario will also have their story featured in my next EA article. Submissions are due by 23:59 on day 1,568. We hope to see a lot of entries, and look out for a lot more of these EA sponsored contests in my upcoming articles.
Good luck and Erin go Bragh,

WOW! This is by far the most interesting thing I heard in days. It definitely is something the eIrish community needs now, an e-cultural revival. I salute your efforts.
make sure to enter and spread the word!
I will have to do some research. I am not well versed in the history of the Irish in the First World War.
This sounds excellent. I'll try to remember to do this and find time for it!
This isn't from the first world war, 1916 was an Irish attempt to break free of the queen's control
Nice idea, I wish you well
Alexander u know Easter Rising?
Well...You should have been more specific. There are over 20 known battalions of Irish volunteers that fought in the battles of Somme and Hulluch, both of which took place in 1916.
Yes I have heard of it and know when it happened. But the article does not state the story should refer to that particular event. It just mentions the period of interest, the year 1916.
I think we can afford participants some freedom to interpret it as they will when coming up with something.
I'd be interested to hear a story taking place in Somme of Hulluch too personally.
I look forward to reading these if they are published : )
1916 only refers to Irish rebelion in Ireland...
