World War III - Part 1 - A Juggernaut named PEACE

Day 689, 14:17 Published in United Kingdom Brazil by H00LIG2NS

Today’s article is the first of the saga dedicated to World War III. After over 2 months of hostilities between PEACE GC and the forces of ex-Atlantis (currently known as Fortis/EDEN), it seems like some kind of historical narrative is needed

The Great War started on July 13th, when France attacked the Canadian region of Nova Scotia. It ended on September 24th, when USA re-conquered New Jersey from Russia.

Introduction – Some explanations and previous events

USA and Canada, during their imperialist past, had attacked several countries and activated a series of MPPs (Mutual Protection Pacts) in PEACE countries. It’s worth remembering that MPPs are only activated for the defender country, and only when defending one of its’ original regions. Once activated, the MPPs remain active even during a counter-strike, until peace is approved by both congresses.

Before this great war, North America had remained unaffected by world wars or external invasions. USA considered itself “untouchable” due to their high population, great number of regions, and a lot of MPPs.

For some time already american arrogance had expressed itself through the inconsequential invasions of Portugal, Mexico, France and Russia. PEACE had already promised that, one day, it would make Americans pay for the numerous attacks, and teach them a lesson of humility.

On the track of its’ failed imperialism, USA had left an enormous amount of MPPs activated in the countries they had attacked. For Canada, danger came from the land of Beaudelaire – the MPPs of failed operation French Toast, when Sweden, UK, Spain, USA and Canada tried to squash “l’ hexagone”, remained active.

At the beggining of July, two treaties – Indonesia and Japan, Hungary and UK. Both foresaw training wars which would include a quick transfer of strategic regions. Those regions (Kyushu in Japan and Scotland in the UK) gave the indos and Hungarians direct borders with North America.
After several threats of invasion, USA and EDEN already laughed at what they considered “ lack of courage” from PEACE. Finally, on July 13th, the French attack on Nova Scotia sets the conflict in motion.

Part 1 – A Juggernaut named PEACE

Victory in Nova Scotia is soon followed by the beginning of the Russian offensive in Alaska. With these two fronts – Russia x USA and France x Canada-, PEACE could count on all its’ main military powers directly involved in the war. Russia and France became the main axis of the operation, exactly because they counted with a large number of MPPs previously activated on their sides.

This first stage was characterized by an unstoppable advancement of PEACE, conquering territory after territory in North America. After France and Russia, Indonesia and Portugal also started direct attacks and USA. Fortis/EDEN forces showed to be completely unprepared for an offensive of this magnitude- their disorganization, added to the American incapacity to understand basic war module mechanisms, assured an almost unimaginable triumph for PEACE.

I’d like to open a small space here to explain one of the most fundamental mechanisms of war – the initiative. Throughout a conflict, only those who have the initiative can start battles. The possibility of starting battles is a huge advantage – the attacker can choose which regions to attack and at which time. Basically, the one who hold the initiative can “ set the rules” of the the war, allowing him to choose the conditions which will benefit his side the most. There are a lot of rules and “tricks” at the war module to assure that you keep (or gain) the initiative. One of them is to ask a third country to make “blocking attacks” against your enemy. This works because when a country is attacked (no matter by whom), it cannot attack anyone else for 24h, unless it retreats this battle (staying blocked only against the attacker, but re-gaining the freedom to get initiative on other fronts).

During this first stage of the war, both main fronts were advancing continuously over north-american territory. That was when Fortis/EDEN decided to use some of their other allies to block France and Russia: Spain and Switzerland attacked French regions; Norway and North Korea attacked Russian regions.

USA Front:

With Russia blocked, PEACE brought two other countries – Portugal and Indonesia – to attack american regions, making sure USA would remain permanently blocked. This gave Russia time to attack and destroy North Korea, and take a border region from Norway. Once “ liberated”, Russia could once again focus on USA.

Canadian Front:

The blockage against France was considerably more serious strategically, because PEACE didn’t have any good replacement at the Canadian front. Unlike USA, Canada hadn’t activated any other countries MPPs besides France. PEACE had to find a way to prevent Spain and Switzerland from blocking France. The main problem was Spain, which had even tried to take important French regions such as Aquitaine. Through the technique I already mentioned, France had to retreat several of its’ less important regions to be unblocked and continue it’s attacks in Canada.

That’s when Brazil came in. To prevent Spain from blocking France, someone had to block Spain. Brazil attacked the Canary Islands several times and made sure France could go on with the offensive.

Conclusion of Part 1

The first stage of the war had two main characteristics: 1) all important battles were in North America; and 2) PEACE advanced continuously and unshakably, winning every single great battle

Main battles were:

-Nova Scotia (France +9 MPPs x Canada + 12 MPPs) – won by France

-California (Indonesia alone x EUA + 12 MPPs) – won by Indonesia

-Texas (Indonesia alone x EUA + 12 MPPs) – won by Indonesia

-Ontario (France +9 MPPs x Canada + 12 MPPs) – won by France

At the end of Part 1, Canada had disappeared from the map, USA had lost almost half of its’ regions, including some of great importance (California, Kansas, Texas), due to their economic value or the presence of a Q5 hospital.

PEACE steam-rolled over North-america, which had become a continent shattered among 8 different nations:

But the war wasn’t over.
On my next article, I’ll go through the second stage of this conflict which changed the face of the planet. PEACE offensive also starts in Europe, USA is put on its’ knees and Spain is erased from the map.
