What it Means to be a Drone
Venerable
Greetings fellow eCanadians,
I have decided that with Rylde winning his second term as our Dictator, someone should offer a better explanation for why we are calling our Coalition congressman “drones.” Many seem to be offended by the concept, and are looking at it with much malice and scorn, but I do not think this is necessary.
In perhaps the easiest way of explaining the term, we “drones” of Congress do what Rylde tells us to. This explanation, however, leaves much to be desired, and contains much negative connotation. This is where everyone is thinking that perhaps Rylde is “buying” us out, or maybe even attempting to lure us in with promises of power. The truth is, we Congressman are not receiving anything from our Dictator. Sure, some members are being supplied through Rylde’s Roughnecks, but this is no way encompasses our entire congress.
When it comes down to it, we’re simply fulfilling our “roles” in this “role-playing” game. Many of us have been MDP or military affiliated for a great deal of time, and as such have always wanted to see some sort of military dictatorship to take place. But we all know that the game does not allow for governmental changes of that nature. So there had to be a workaround.
This is where we drones come in. While we could not have an in-game Dictator, we CAN have an in-game congress that has a sole purpose of doing everything Rylde says, which in effect creates a Dictator. We are not necessarily his lackeys, we are simply allowing our preferred method of role-playing to occur. We have actualized the desires of our Party, and with it are doing nothing more than doing what a Military Dictatorship Party SHOULD do.
Many of our fellow eCanadians are upset from this, and consider us no more than pawns. In a way we are, but not in the way that matters. In the case of Rylde losing his next election, as long as it isn’t to a traitor of eCanada, we will no longer be his drones, and will go about playing our roles as free eCitizens.
We are simply individuals who are doing the best we can to allow the diversity that we have been hoping for in MDP into eRepublik, and in my opinion we have succeeded. We are not disloyal to eCanada, we have not done anything to jeopardize our glorious country, we are simply loyal to our Political Party, as well as to our Dictator.
Signing off,

good job.....
Dictator made me to vote this
Dictator made me to vote this too.
Lackeys basically.
FOR THE EMPIRE!
See I thought Rylde made up the term as part of his usual slightly sarcastic and in your face manner. Yet, now I'm seeing it was something meaningful and positive all along. Words are funny like that.
Btw, what made you guys go so strongly for the word "Dictator." Was that something Rylde clearly thought out and explained to you all or is it an organic style of gameplay that develops to fit the situation and player's involved?
It was more of the second, really. The traditional MDP PP has always, at least as long as I've known, been called the Dictator. It happened more after Rylde won, and as Congress elections were nearing, it was realized that we could actually 'make' a dictatorship. He had the support of MDP, as well as Rolo's parties, so it was able to be actualized.
@Crock: You clearly don't know the purpose of this war.
Dictator made me vote this
So what qualities of "Dicatorship" is MDP hoping to exemplify through its current gameplay method?
I understand"War and the Military" are its highlights.Yet, that is best expressed through the "Military" part of Military Dictatorship Party. You could do the same of giving war, mercenary funding, and MU support with a Military 'Democracy' Party
I'm curious to know how creating a Dictatorship affects a player's or parties' gameplay in eRep.It is an interesting approach that bears looking at
This is very multifaceted.
When it comes down to it, it depends on the interpretation. Those for it will see speed, less drama in 'congress,' etc. Those against it will see it as tyrannical, and stunting to the nation. It's all about the roleplay.
Would I, the player, rather live in a Dictatorship? No. Would I, the character being played in a military oriented society? I sure would. For me, it's something that could naturally occur in situations such as these, and we could make it happen.
Plugson, I believe that a dictator affects the roleplay by changing the government from political to military. A military is in fact a dictatorship, when a general gives an order the soldier who does not follow it can ruin the plan and give victory to the enemy.
In the same way that Rylde is a "dictator" he is also the general and the "drones" are the officers who oversee the execution of his orders. This involves and coordinates players in a way that no other form of government can,
Congress drone #17 checking in.
It makes us able to contribute to something greater than ourselves, and being part of it makes the game more interesting and enjoyable, and that is how we can keep the players we have active, and encourage new ones to join and grow.
Efficiency and ease of giving out orders has long been seen as the benefit of a top-down society. We can see this in the MU Command system that runs so effectively in eCanada.MU leaders are PMed a list of priority battles that they put up as the Daily Order. This process is what allows eCanada to 'punch above its weight
The same is for the Comptroller position and MU Funding Act.Money is effectively distributed to MUs on an equitable and timely basis with minimal conflict or delay in debates
These exist already and independently of the MDP.If the MDP wishes to improve and strenghten these pillars of eCanada (MU funding and DO Orders), then I welcome it. That's what the game is about and that's why eRep is now a military society in most countries
So, let me ask you then? How is a dictatorship improving on these pillars of eCanada? How is it strengthening our MUs and making eCanada a more powerful nation respected by allies?
Fun roleplay is okay.Bonuses r better

No offense, but this really sounds like something coming from a brainwashed sect member.
@Christian: Again, I knew you would say that, and indeed mentioned something similar in my article. We are allowing a Dictatorship to exist, in a way that wouldn't. If the game allowed for the government to change, and us to not have to simply be 'drones,' we wouldn't be. We all have opinions, and disagree with each other at times. But when Rylde proposes something, we vote in his favor, because that was our agreement. We are promoting a fast government, and it's only possible with our votes.
@Plugson: Ease and accessibility. A military machine headed by an iron will that doesn't waver. We have the ability to be more militarily than we are letting ourselves. A battle efficient nation can attract new members, can increase activity of two clickers, etc.
If we can get more people to appreciate that the game mechanics have shifted almost primarily to the Battle Module, more so than the political module, then we can become much more.
That's how I interpret it, at least.
also RR has quite a collection of RL Credit Cards. This helps make our battles closer, and much more interesting than before.
interesting forthright article. The majority of congress has agreed to suspend all thinking. Well that isn't fair really. Members thought out their position in advance: to follow the dictates of one man in all areas, no matter what. It does make for efficiency in the process of voting. It also makes clear that although the Speaker may have ostensible authority and power, in fact he has none. All his decisions are those of the dictator.
the comptroller is supposed to keep the president away from your money. Now, in fact, the comptroller's every decision is the decision of the president.
The congress is charged with making deliberate thoughtful decisions. No more. This article makes clear that the majority of congress has decided to do no thinking and to ignore all thinking. It is, of course, necessary to write posts but their content is irrelevant, meant only to preserve the veneer that discussion makes any difference.
It is an interesting experiment.
Why was Epic PTOed?
A similar government lived in ePakistan under Dio B ..... will be curious to see if "we have lots of credit cards" is going to make a difference to policy. Even more inrigued about how present MDP members will be acting two months from now --
Thank you for the interesting read.
Yes Oliver I have access to everything and control congress it is a nice set up to be a true Dictator. It isn't nessarily a bad thing either.
not necessarily bad.. which is why i am curious.
Improves effeciency of voting but usually seriously decreases the effeciency and effectiveness of policy. Not always. So I wait and see.
Why did you ban Kam? because it is now clear the speaker didn't, he is only your instrument.
Why did you PTO epic, using your instruments.
Why do you have government money in your personal account?
Why are you deciding which MUs get money, how much they get and when?
"I know best" - maybe so.
A Dictator still has the ability to assign responsibilities to individuals, so much of what you've said is foolhardy.
Also, Rylde was not a Dictator in effect until after EPIC had been PTO'd. We of MDP knew nothing of it until the day of Congress.
As for most of what you said, the Dictator is still following the laws of Congress that we, meaning he, has not changed. Military Units are still being funded as they have always been.
Oliver from your statement or accusations you are poorly informed on most fronts. If your going to speak out against my govt and style of leadership try getting some real facts.
I did not PTO EPIC but I knew of it.
The govt merc fund is dead no more money being sent out its being held in reserve in the treasury.
I haven't decided which MU's get money or how much. MU fundign hasn't changed under my govt.
Rylde, I believe oliver was just extrapolating on the idea stated in "we “drones” of Congress do what Rylde tells us to."
The Comptroller and Speaker and current PP of the former EPIC are all part of your Dictatorship coalition. If they do whatever you tell them to do, then you do dictate how the comptroller controls cash, how Speaker manages Congress, and if PTO plans do get put to action. Just like how the "drones" vote and make proposals in Congress.
You say "go" ~ they go. You say "stop" ~ they stop.
You never said "Stop the funding" or "Stop the PTO" so we assume you authorize MUs continue to be funded and that EPIC continue to remain under Rolo's control.
Comparatively, you said "Stop the Merc Fund" and it stopped. It was that easy.
These are all related and equal things.
I have the power but as you can see I have not been abusing it foolishly.
The problem is that you might as well strip the MDP Congress members of their voting power and give it all to you to vote on their behalf.
No because they have there own idea's at times and I only get them to vote when required. Outside of that there free to do what they want.
😁😁
Plug and Funky have it right.
A Dictator can't escape personal responsibility for everything. He can't say: "oh, they get to do what they want if I don't tell them otherwise." All dictators run into the same problem: you can tell them otherwise. You are the one in charge of everything and must take responsibility for everything. Like the Kam ban. If you want you can have it undone instantly. You choose not to. You are responsible. For the good as well.
Venerable: of course a dictator can delegate to others. You have described these others. They follow his every instruction unquestionably, just as you do. Two further things arise from this:
1. the "others" are working for a guy who despises "yes" men. That says something about them and the dictator.
2. When the yes men write articles and comments, it is hard to give them credit since they are self admittedly only doing so to justify the dictator's position/interest.
Nevertheless, it is the present set up and I am curious about the experiment. The Kam ban situation seems a perfect example of the kind of thing that can happen.
Nice article venerable o7 well explain!
Oliver you remind me of one of those guys who bashes movies on Rotten Tomatoes. Its easier to judge others hard work than to get your hands dirty and do something yourself.
