What I Have Done.

Day 1,722, 18:25 Published in USA USA by Evry

A question posed to me countless times throughout the last month was: “What have you done?!?!”.

That question could take on many different meanings. I was asked that question from people assuming I wasn’t doing anything and asking for proof of any sort of work being done. I was asked that question by people outraged and asking what I did this time. I was also asked that question by foreign leaders asking why the American populace would be so angry at me.

Now that my Presidential term has finished, I feel it prudent to review my month in the big chair and show my critics that there was in fact a plan for success all along.

When I ran for President a little over a month ago, I was asked to name three campaign goals. My goals were: To fight complacency, to make progress regarding our Foreign Affairs situation, and to defend our borders. I am here today to declare success on all three of my campaign goals.

Fighting complacency is something that both I, and then my (then) opponent, GloveisLove agreed on as the #1 issue facing the country. I will admit that I had not planned to increase activity and interest within the eUS community by inciting the masses into a near-riot. However, there is no debate that activity has gone way up, and complacency/apathy has gone way down. Just to make sure there is no doubt, I have proof to prove it.

The forum for the eUS community records various statistics. Included in those statistics are the fact that, the month of July saw the most new posts since February, the most new members since March, as well as the most new threads since April. Additionally, the month of August is already on pace to surpass the month of July.

Although it was not a huge increase in activity, the in-game Presidential election this month (August 5th) showed a higher number of people voting than on July 5th. Also, this month’s election was on a Sunday which traditionally has smaller turnouts by a couple hundred votes.

Additionally, the Top5 has been seeing more articles, and more votes for the articles than in recent memory.

There is no doubt that the American public has been dragged out of its previous state of complacency.

My second goal was to make solid progress on our foreign policy situation. When I took over, the eUS was working on creating an alliance with Brazil, Spain, and Poland. Terra was on its deathbed, and EDEN was losing to ONE. Throughout my term, I had been blamed for numerous things.

I was told that I was moving the eUS into ONE. Never happened. I was told that I was trying to MPP Poland. Never happened. I was told I wanted to fight against Croatia/France/Romania/China/Greece/Germany. Never happened. I was even told I was a ONE spy. Definitely not true.

I will however quickly walk you through a cause and effect situation that happened during my term. I was blamed for attempting to get the eUS into ONE. As a result, we MPP’d Spain, and began talking with Poland. Right around the same time that we MPP’d Spain, Spain left ONE with Poland soon behind them. Soon after Spain and Poland left ONE, ONE died. In the article proclaiming ONE’s demise, they called Spain’s departure from ONE, “the biggest blow we got.”

In summary, if I am to blame for the eUS and Spain becoming friends which caused Spain to leave ONE which resulted in ONE dissolving. I am to “blame” for ONE being destroyed.

Cause and effect is fun.

I personally would define destroying our greatest enemy (ONE) as a huge success and definitely an accomplishment in regards to making great progress in regards to our foreign policy situation.

My last campaign goal was in fact the most simple. To protect our borders. I did that, and more. I finished the war with Mexico and also protected our sovereignty by telling Canada that they can’t boss us around. They thought that since they were our “bro” they can leak private government communications, propose NE’s willy-nilly, propose embargos instead of peace, and then once they finally remove their Natural Enemy of us (a week after we did the same to them), they vote down peace when it is offered. Not to mention, they discussed, wrote, and signed an agreement with someone from the eUS who wasn’t going to be in office for at least a few days. While many people consider Canada to be a “great ally”. They have proven themselves completely unworthy of that distinction.

I accomplished numerous other, smaller tasks throughout my term which may not had fallen directly under my three campaign goals, but are worth mentioning none-the-less. I worked out a land rental deal with Mexico (which was passed by congress and is waiting for the new term to begin to prevent any issues), my DoD team and I helped the military become more streamlined and resolved a few leadership situations within various branches, I facilitated the move from Q6 communes to Q7 communes for most of the military as well as the WRM companies to accompany them, and I helped formulate a foreign policy for the nation which will help us move away from being centered on the balkan region which is as far away from us as possible.

Looking back on my term as president, I don’t regret anything I’ve said or done. I woke the eUSA out of a slumber that was eating away at is economic and military effectiveness, I helped defeat the menace previously known as ONE, I rekindled a friendship with once great allies Spain, I didn’t lose a single region or economic bonus, and I defended our sovereignty from our frigid neighbors. Not to mention, I did all of this with the least cooperative congress in history. I was the first President to successfully survive 3 in-game impeachment attempts, and a forum impeachment attempt. A fair portion of the legislation I proposed in-game was either voted down, or passed by a miniscule margin. And the environment both in public, as well as in public was one filled with hatred and reluctance.

I successfully completed all three of my campaign goals despite immense pressure to fail. Of course, I couldn’t do it without my team who stood by me every step of the way providing much needed advice when necessary and encouragement when all appeared lost.

On that note, I thank you for giving me the opportunity, and I hope that you will realize the bigger picture of what has been accomplished.

Signed,
