I've been a little quiet for a while, I will admit. But, I have been super-busy in real life. Not an excuse...or is it?
However, I've still been able to schedule the inaugural D&D match, check out the thread for more information. It's this Saturday from 6-9 PM EDT (in eRep time 15:00-18:00 on Day 134😎
. I've spoken to the admins, and Lethos is permanently permanently banned. They won't even listen. I've heard some of you have been talking to the admins for me as well. I want to thank all of you who have done so for your support.
In media news, it's bittersweet. It seems 90 of my subscribers were perma-banned or organizations, and I'm back down to 109. Funnily enough, apparently other newspapers had MUCH MORE because I've moved from 35th most subscribed to 18th most subscribed. I want to thank all 109 subscribers (again if you've also talked to the admins lol) for putting The Mage's Retort in the Top 20 newspapers in this country.
If you want to contact me, I am NOT ACTIVE AT ALL in game. I've been logging on once every two or three days for ten minutes at a time, responding to e-mails and posting the occasional witless, unfunny remark that comes from the top of my head. Though not Lethos in life, I am still Lethos Gurelcur on the forum. Feel free to send me a message there. I check that once or twice a day. e-mail is cool too. Why would you contact me? Look below...
I've decided to more or less use this paper for answering your questions, and posting my replies here in articles. I only have one now, but in future editions I hope to have more. What does gurelcur mean?
I play a lot of Dwarf Fortress, it's a fun game one I'd recommend to anybody (it's free. Me gusta free). Gurelcur is a "Dwarven" name (not Tolkien canon Dwarven unless this one is too). It comes from

Yes, back when orgs could subscribe/vote, there was some script fiend that had a thousand orgs that could insta-earn you a media mogul if you gave him (most of) the 5 gold earned from the medal. Some people are SUCH completionists that they went for the deal instead of earning an MM medal the old fashioned way (with good writing or pictures of hot chicks).
The new mercenary medal is kind of lame, too, as if the game needed any further incentives to break down national spirit (aka team spirit) in this game. Still, what else are you going to do in a game like this besides "collect the medals"?
If Admin ever wants to kill the game completely/ignite UNHOLY NERD RAGE, they will leave the game running, but remove rank AND the medals from the game/character profiles.
PS--the game is and always has been ridiculously plagued with multis, so the Admin are probably justified in being heavy with the banhammer, regrettably.
Dwarf fortress is a great game, I agree.
Bowelplague, eh? That name must come from the quality of the water. It gives you dysentery. What a crappy fortress to have to defend.
