While I appreciate the sentiment, you can stow the rhetoric.

Everyone knows we need to try and fight the Brits off, even if it is just to keep negotiations open. No one disagrees that we must fight.

It's a shame that you feel the need to tell others not to be patriotic and classify their free speech as "rhetoric". It's fine that you have no interest in uniting the country, but some of us are hoping for something better here in eIreland.

No James, I would just appreciate if people wouldn't get all soft at the mention of unity for the country without hearing a plan first.

People without plans, drumming up support, is pretty much what is wrong with the country.

Brian, the plan is in the article...put aside differences for the day and fight back against our enemy. This was not a political statement, nor am I declaring a run for some sort of office; therefore there is no 5 point plan for the future. Then again, not EVERYTHING is political and people wanting to make everything political is actually what is wrong with the country.

Unity is one thing. I'd say we all agree on that. I think we need a leader, someone who can get things organized and serve as a rallying point.

Nice sentiment, but we've all fought for Ireland. I've done 136m damage so far and others have done far more, so it's more co-ordinating than just hitting and that's what's proving difficult.

Personally I agree with the goal of your message. Not to mention, i think its even more relevant to our current situation given the amount of citizens that would prefer being public asses and running off young players when they aren't in office, or working closely with the Brits more than their own country, despite claiming eirish republicanism.

I'd say there's a lot that needs to be placed aside for us to unite and have a congress, but most of those that are truly making ireland worse are going to deny the relevancy to your article, claim we are already united despite the spies we have crawling amongst us making matters more difficult for peace.

Also, the idea that people can't have a difference of opinion while working together is such an absolute ignorant idea to me. To think that everyone will agree 100% of the time isn't logical, nor is it what I am calling for.

It's more about the fact that I, as a bystander, never see an end to the political bickering and it's gotten to a point that some people think that their fellow citizen is a bigger enemy than the neighboring country that occupies their homeland.

I just can't subscribe to that line of thinking, especially since it has zero proven track record of actually working for the benefit of a country.

I get that some of you are active and don't "need" a message like this. But for those of us that have sat back, following the daily orders and watching everyone bicker back and forth, it's been a disillusioning time.

We've watched as good people have left Ireland, some to go to our enemies shores. We've watched as self-serving individuals have called for change, then robbed the country blind. We've watched as elected officials sat in silence, accomplishing absolutely nothing.

Some of us don't care about which political party is in control. We just want someone to stand up and do something for the actual benefit of Ireland.

So when nobody else will rally the people or post an article that isn't the same negative drivel, then I'll write the first article I've written in over 900 days to let the few that read it know that they're not alone. Afterwards, I'll go back to watching the pissing contest and reading the same old "rhetoric" that puts politics before country.

Biggest problem is there is a group od creatures in ireland who work by moto :"either we control ireland or no ireland".

Currently they are part of new labour party and they live in illusion they are gods of ireland.

Everyone here more or less can get along but not them...unless the are in total control.
