Trying on a New Path

Day 3,054, 01:04 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

I have taken the opportunity this month to do nothing official and just observe and advise, and honestly, it has been a very refreshing experience to have no responsibility (other than Congress) and just say what I think. So I suppose it would be a good opportunity to do so in this article, since I’ve been out of the game for some time.

First up, the Iranian thing. I’ll be honest and say from the first moment I read about it I thought it was a terrible idea. I honestly still do. I am not a fan of Iran, or their foreign policy of allying anyone who doesn’t like Turkey, including some of our recent invaders. However, I do think this harmed the effectiveness of our foreign policy and caused a lot of unnecessary attention and anger towards us when it isn’t needed. I supported the repossession of the organization, since that was eUS property, but taking the money and publicly bragging about it was a step too far, especially given the investment that was put in to create that sum. I think many can see that from the recent revolution against our dictatorship, there are obviously hard feelings. I guess time will tell if more will come of this.

Second, I get to talk about the Presidential race. Now we have MelissaRose, DMJohnston, and I guess Pilot Phil running to take over the spot. So far, I have been generally underwhelmed by this race. I like MR and DMJ both, and consider them longstanding friends, but I can’t seem to bring myself to fully support either, though I probably trend towards DMJ’s platform. I am still unsure at this juncture who is best fit to lead, but I hope that next month sees a turnaround either way should one of them win. Pilot Phil is essentially making a protest candidacy, and honestly, I don’t blame SFP for this approach. They are angry about the status quo and feel persecuted by the meta community for their beliefs. In my opinion, they shouldn’t be seeking to defend Wooky Jack’s actions, since I have always been a strong believer in adhering to laws even if you disagree with them, but the equal amount of intransigence from the other side of the debate isn't generating any desire from SFP to change course.

This brings me to my last point: Politics in the eUSA aren’t working right now. When I ran for president, my desire was to decrease tensions in the community and bring focus back towards our domestic programs. DoCA became much more active and my term saw a reduction in partisan-infighting. I even encouraged and supported the removal of blacklistings given proper time and reconciliation, and Tom Cauchon, someone I have had many conversations with, actually had his removed. During the war, I received a generous contribution from SFP to fund COs, and although the war ended soon after this, I think they had the best interests of the nation at heart and wanted to see it defended. I thought we were turning things around. While I have criticized SFP before, I have always tried to seek debate rather than a fight. But now it seems were are back to square one again, and it doesn’t appear to be resolving in any peaceful manner. I don’t believe our country, at this stage in the game, can survive a political civil war.

I think it is time to pursue a different course in order to prevent our country from falling further apart. I am going to join the SFP, not because I agree with their actions, but because I seek to understand their point of view further. I expect some to see this as political posturing, while others will see this as an attempt at infiltration, and I can assure you it is neither. My political career in this game has come to a close, aside from possible congressional runs. I no longer seek to become President again, so I think it’s time to focus upon a new project of trying to create reason rather than discord. I hope this new chapter enlightens me while also creating some good. Feel free to comment on this as you please.
