To keep a promise but probably bore you

Day 1,236, 03:01 Published in Canada Canada by Etemenanki

First off I would like to thank the people of Ontario and the rest of Canada for seeing fit to elect me once more to Congress on the 25th. In my election announcement I promised that I would return to writing this synopsis of what has been going on in Congress despite the hopes no doubt of some of you not being bored to death. I’m sorry. I would like to say though that after this months go about things you will be spared from having to read my articles once again for a minimum of two months, as next month I will not be running for Congress as I am getting married on the 20th of May and have decided that I will not split my time between these two endeavours for both the desire to do what is best for my fiancé and what is best for you the people of Canada. As a consequence of the election being conducted while I am on my honeymoon the week after, I strongly doubt I will be able to run for Congress for June. I will be happy to maintain my position as Minister of Finance though during this time as the greatest portion of time required for this position is the early parts of each of those months. Of course, this is all contingent upon the idea that Congress or future Prime Ministers would see my retained here. Now onto my votes though.

My Votes

1) President of Switzerland proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? The Swiss are a central European country close to a good chunk of action that goes on in Europe and as such are a good potential source of conflict and battle for us Canadians to get involved in. They also act as a good peg between the Germans, the Italians and the French and any fortification of them gives us good potential reach into Europe. Voted yes. Motion passed.

2) Do you agree to transfer 5000 CAD from the country accounts to Bruck's Canucks? This would be a standard payment to the TCO that happens just about every week. This is of course based on the budget for the month and follows our usual timeline. Voted yes. Motion passed.

3) No Natural Enemy has been proposed? To choose a new Natural Enemy one must first get the old one out of the way. This was a step in that direction so naturally I was happy to follow it. Voted yes. Motion passed.

4) Do you agree to transfer 99999 CAD from the country accounts to National Bank of Canada? This one kind of surprised me with what happened in congress. When this motion was put forward Rylde I believe it was came forward and said that the MDP should vote it down. One would have to ask him his rationalization on that one, I do not know. This motion was a twist on the one that was in the timeline, which called for a donation of 50k, but was increased further to 110k because of the theft which took place. As it turns out, there is a cap on the amount of money which can be proposed hence why this odd number was chosen. This money was of course slated to be given to the bond holders which were owed their money within the next couple days of this vote. The remainder of this money was parceled into two portions, one going to the CAF as part of their expected weekly payment, the other being donated back to the treasury.. Voted yes. Motion passed.

5) Tax change: Weapons: Import Tax from 60% to 50%: Income from 1% to 5%? No idea where this motion came from or why it was brought about. A 4% increase in the income tax without any discussion what so ever in congress called for an immediate voting this motion down. Voted no. Motion failed.

6) The President of Canada demanded a sum of 0 gold from your National Treasury in return to a peace treaty with United Kingdom? 0 gold and we get peace with a country that we were only really fighting for simple training. Sounds like a deal to me. Voted yes. Motion passed.

7) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with France? Shoring up our MPP’s and our allies in the European theater, and for what is a relatively low 10k cost. Voted yes. Motion passed.

8.) Do you agree that Canada should buy a Hospital of quality 3 from Rigour6 company at the price of 0.99 CAD for New Brunswick? Some of you will know Rigour6 whom has been playing this game for some time now, and has focused a large amount of his resources, effort and time into New Brunswick. As such, to celebrate this completion of another one of his hospitals, we in Congress brought this hospital forward into New Brunswick at his request. Voted yes. Motion passed.

9) Do you agree to transfer 5000 CAD from the country accounts to Bruck's Canucks? If you read the above, you will have noticed that I stated that a motion identical to this was done as part of the usual upkeep of the various Canadian uniforms, this would be another one of those. Voted yes. Motion passed.

10) President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? See how it goes, we remove the UK as our Natural Enemy, then we get peace with them, and then we get an alliance with them. I will say it is weird though voting yes on this motion, as I remember having voted yes on declaring war on the UK at least twice during my time in congress, and it not being a training war. Voted yes. Motion passed.

11) Tax change: Foo😛 VAT changed from 20% to 3%, Import 15% to 20%? Another one of those motions where I don’t know what was going on as their was no discussion on this topic in congress, and as such, we voted it down. Voted no. Motion failed.

12) Tax change: Foo😛VAT from 20% to 15%, Import 15% to 20%? This was the first of the motions that was done to lower Canada’s tax rate from 20% to 15% to alleviate some of the stress from the Canadian people. After some looking over of the numbers, the government was collecting enough money to survive and had paid off it’s debts. The only rationale that was remaining for a higher VAT was the desire to pull CAD off the market and as such these motions began. Voted yes. Motion passed.

13) Tax change: Moving Tickets: VAT from 20% to 15%, Import 15% to 20%? Voted yes. Motion passed.

14) Tax change: Weapons: VAT from 20% to 15%, Import 60% to 65%? Voted yes. Motion passed.

15) Tax change: House: VAT from 20% to 15%, Import 15% to 20%? Voted yes. Motion passed.

16) President of New Zealand proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? This motion came with no or little conversation in congress and was roundly voted down as New Zealand has been perceived as a puppet state, and in general allied with many of those we are in opposition of, hence meaning a far greater chance of the alliance being broken and a loss of our investment in it. Voted no. Motion failed.

17) Minimum wage change from 1.2 CAD to 2 CAD? These crop up every so often, motions of which there is no discussion and no apparent call or need for them. If one takes a look at the job market right now, a brand new player can get a Q1 job for approximately 21 CAD. Raising the minimum wage from 1.2 to 2 CAD does nothing but potentially harm the slave pits that are most common with military organizations. Voted no. Motion failed.

1😎 Do you agree to transfer 15000 CAD from the country accounts to Canadian National Defense? This would be what we pay the CAF every week to do their job helping to protect Canada from any aggressors and to support our allies around the world. All part of the prepared and expected budget. Voted yes. Motion passed.

19) Portugal has been proposed as Natural Enemy. We have a plan, and a Natural enemy is always something that we are in need of as it boosts our training scores. Voted yes. Motion passed.

20) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Bosnia and Herzegovina? Another one of those countries buried deep in Europe and under near constant threat, a great country to have an alliance with as it means lots of fights and a furthering of our alliance. Voted yes. Motion passed.

21) Do you agree to transfer 5000 CAD from the country accounts to Bruck's Canucks? One must always get used to these constant and never ending motions that one could swear one has seen several times before. Voted yes. Motion passed.

22) President of Croatia proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? Gearing up for a battle it would seem as we strive forward with alliances. Voted yes. Motion pending.

23) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Greece? Yet again, another central European power we seek to have an alliance with and to help shore up. Voted yes. Motion pending.

24) USA has been proposed as Natural Enemy? Remember that plan we were discussing, this would be a portion of that. I have yet to cast my vote on this motion, but the odds are decent I will be voting yes on it. Motion pending.

Congress

Speaker. As is always the case, at the beginning of each term one must choose a head honcho to run Congress and attempt to keep it in order and running smoothly. If you have ever seen a bunch of 8 year olds try and play a game like soccer or football (see how I chose two sports that could be interchanged with each other name wise to prevent someone mentioning it?) then you know what happens if someone neutral isn’t in charge. The Speaker operates much like a ref, making calls and setting down the law for the players to follow. I’ve stated before that I was a fan of Chochi as speaker as he may have been viewed as heavy handed, he at least kept things running well and running smoothly. This time around I voted for Kevin Cooper, whom I have been keeping my eye on for quite a little while and have been impressed with his impartiality, calm demeanour and general interest in what is going on in Congress. I am happy to say he won and has been running things quite well since.

Forum admins. A motion was put forward a little while ago as to question the need to have some form of rules in regards to how to remove and or put in place a forum admin. Myself, I have always been happy to have the admins perform their functions on their own and to let them be in some way a part of the Supreme court, acting in part as executioner and jailer. Aside from 1ronman I cannot recall a time in which a forum admin has acted against the best of the country so I felt no need to maintain control over them, though I do understand peoples concern. This motion has passed, giving congress and the Prime Minister some measure of control over the forum admins. My hope is that things will at best, stay the same as they were priorly.

Other Stuff

Addy has finally gotten around to starting up the Treasury Bond program which was something voted on and approved by the previous congress members in an attempt to draw more CAD out of the market, improving the state of our dollar. A link to further information this matter can be found here I will be sending my 500 CAD to the Canadian Ministry of Finance as soon as I finish writing this article.

EPIC launched the Independent Legion recently with an announcement from our former Party President Nosyt, detailing the hopes and desires of what the operation will run like and provide. This organization is hoped to provide shelter and supply to those who do not want as rigid or to be as involved as organizations like the TCO and the CAF and is open to any Canadian. Further information on the program can be found here.

So that about sums up the past 10 days or so and I look forward to doing this all over again in another 10 days. Until then, fight strong and fight on Canada.

Major congressman etemenanki, Minister of Finance.
