Thoughts and Requests

Day 2,512, 20:06 Published in USA USA by Azazel Romanov

First, I'll just keep promoting my own personal project. Given the state of the game I didn't expect too many people to apply at first and I was correct. To those of you who requested to be mentors, sorry I have no students to really give you currently. To those of you who requested to be students, I am getting to you or have already started speaking to you. I really need more requests for help right now than requests for giving help. So if you would like me to take you under my wing a little bit please respond.

Now that that is out of the way, I'd like to make another request from people. Over the past few months I have noticed a lack of competitive spirit in elections and politics. I understand that ideas aren't far apart or that a lot of us are on the same page with what we would like to see with the eUS, but that doesn't mean we still can't have fun with it. If its getting to the point where I'd rather see some trolling or idiocy than what we have, you know its hitting the breaking point for me. Tyler is doing great with what he's been given, but to completely have a completely uncontested election again is becoming dull to see. I appreciate those of you who wrote out endorsement articles for Tyler, but those are mainly only interesting when he's actually going against someone else.

We're seeing election voting activity drop, and I know that a lot of that is attributable to the game decreasing in numbers. Another factor is our lack of a reason to vote when its clear who is going to get it. I witnessed this same kind of fatigue when I ran for reelection against no one and it was kind of disappointing for me as a sitting president. I like being challenged and having the thrill of an opponent. I know we're a ways away now from the next presidential election, but I'd like to make a call out to those on the sidelines to step up next time around. Give us something to cheer or boo for, or at least something entertaining and funny.

Sometimes people need a show or a race to watch. We can't just always engage ourselves in battle and avoid the role play. It's a part of what makes this game fun for me and others. I like seeing controversy and intrigue sometimes, if only to lighten the mood or spice things up a bit. Feelings might get hurt sometimes, but that's what happens when you have genuine political debates. We need some of that thrill to come back because right now its sorely missing from our country, and our media market is paying the price for it (along with a devoid of any other type of news coverage).

What many people don't know is my own initial hesitance to run for office again before I became president. I enjoyed work a lot but I hated elections. I lost to Oblige in August and I was fairly bitter about it, but not enough to quit serving. I was one of those people who value bureaucracy and civil service, but saw being elected as solely a popularity contest. It wasn't until Israel Stevens issued this challenge and a lot of backroom convincing that I decided to step in again. It was the best decision I have ever made in this game. It might take a few tries or some more experience for some of you, but its worth a shot in the dark sometimes.

Let me know what you guys think.
