Thorin II Oakenshield [CP]

Day 2,411, 03:36 Published in Belgium Belgium by Thorin II Oakenshield

Dear eBelgian citizens,

My name is Тhorin II Oakenshield (well, it’s actually Nikola) and I am running for president.
I’ve been in eBelgium for almost a year and in that time I’ve come to know of the situation and people of this country.

There are many things I love about Belgium, but there are things that need to be done, I am committed to a free and strong Belgium, with a government of experienced, active, and competent citizens. Belgium is not a big country, it does not have large amounts of resources, for Belgium to prosper we have to play smart. Maybe most of all we have to stay united.

What do I want to see?

Fiscal responsability and general transparency. The Government is gathering money from taxes. What are they doing with it? We should have a detailed accounting system for the tax revenue and all other income eBelgium uses and it should be public, so anyone can check for signs of corruption or theft. Also, any decision should be explained and, anytime it can be done, the eBelgian citizens should be consulted before. The Congress should become more than a rubber stamp machine: debates and true voting must be held for tax, alliance and natural enemy proposals and all congressmen must participate.

I stand for low taxes, less direct war and more help for our allies. The short explanations is the pursuit of happiness. The more money you have the more you can do to increase your rank, experience or give for your favorite cause (so, if you think the Army deserves more you can give to them, not make everyone else do it). We must find a way to bring babies (or other citizens?) to eBelgium cause more people means stronger country and more money. Funding youngsters should be our top priority. I know, many don't agree but I don't really expect those to vote for me. Less direct war? This means less invasions. We can’t allow ourselves to go after strongest nations and get wiped. We’ve been wiped for far too long. Alliances do not care about the little countries and will walk all over us. But we must realize that our value to each alliance is not in them controlling us, it is the other alliance NOT controlling us. We also must stay on good terms with our neighbors. We must strive to have a diplomatic core both active and competent to deal with future issues.

I’ve been here for more than 5 years and I have a lot of experience on eRepublik though I have never served as a country president. With the help of other good people, who are in no shortage in eBelgium, I could manage this responsible and demanding task.
In the next article I’ll introduce you to the members of my government. If you want to be a part of it don’t hesitate to contact me by PM. It would be good if you could also state the position you are interested in.
I will try to continue the good work of our previous president,Thanatos The Magnificent.

Your friend,
Party president of Liberation Front
eBelgian congressman
Thorin II Oakenshield
