Hello everyone o7

In this article I`ll talk about my favorite TV-series. It’s going to be legend-wait-for-it-dary. You guessed it, It’s about How I Met Your Mother.

So sit back and hopefully enjoy my opinion on the subject.

How I Met Your Mother (a.k.a HIMYM) is an American sitcom that originally aired on CBS from September 19, 2005 to March 31, 2014. It has 9 seasons with total of 208 episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 have 22 episodes, Season 3 has 20 episodes and Seasons 4 to 9 have 24 episodes each. Each episode lasts about 22 minutes, that’s 4,510 minutes or roughly 215 hours.

The series has 90 nominations and 25 wins, which is not bad for a sitcom. The main roles are played by Josh Radnor (Ted Mosby), Jason Segel (Marshall Eriksen), Cobie Smulders (Robin Scherbatsky), Alyson Hannigan (Lily Aldrin) and Neil Patrick Harris (Barney Stinson).The Mother is played by Cristin Milioti (Tracy McConnell) who became series regular only in the 9th and final season. Bob Saget is the voice of Future Ted Mosby but for some reason he is uncredited.

The center of the series is Ted Mosby, the series starts with Future Ted Mosby (in the year 2030) sitting down his two children Penny(Lyndsy Fonseca) and Luke(David Henrie) and explains through flashbacks how he met their mother. The Present Ted Mosby is 27 years old(in the year 2005) living in New York City and starts his incredible journey to meeting the love of his life and mother of his children. He and his friends regularly hang out in a pub called "MacLaren’s Pub" which is in the same building as Ted’s first apartment in NYC. His two best friends Marshall(also his college roommate) and Lily are a couple from the first week in college, Barney is a random guy Ted met in the same pub and later became one of his best friends, Robin is a girl Ted met in the same pub and fell in love with on their first date but through series of events she became of Ted’s best friends.

Ted is architect and later a college professor, he prefers more elegant and high-class interests than his friends have. He goes to great lengths to profess his love to the women in his life, but they all falter eventually. Despite these qualities, Ted often acts immaturely, such as partaking in wild activities with Barney.
Marshall is Ted’s best friend. He marries Lily, with whom he has been in love since his freshman year of college, they have few children. Marshall has interests in paranormal phenomenon, and mythical creatures, particularly Sasquatch. His dream is to be an environment lawyer conflicts with his immediate need for money, such as for his wedding and to raise his children.
Lily is a kindergarten teacher, aspiring artist, and Marshall’s wife. She is terrible at keeping secrets, and can be manipulative at times. Though appearing sweet and cute, Lily can be quite unexpectedly fierce.
Robin is a news anchor who has on-again off-again relationships with Ted and Barney. Robin is a from Canada and he background is a source of many jokes from her friends. She is shown to be very career-centric and rejects traditional roles, such as getting married and having kids. Robin often drinks scotch and smokes cigars, and she is an avid gun fan.
Barney is a serial playboy, using relative wealth and an array of outrageous strategies to seduce women with no intention of engaging in a relationship. His catchphrases include ‘Suit Up’ and ‘Legend-wait-for-it-dary’. He is Ted’s “bro”, often jealous of Marshall for having known Ted since college. Abandoned by his father at a young age, Barney has abandonment issues and clings to his friends.
Tracy is the future wife of Ted, The Mother, she is first seen in the finale of season 8, though her name is hinted in season 1. Ted falls madly in love with her, but she passes away in the year 2024.

Fact 1. Alyson Hannigan(Lily) refused to kiss Jason Segel(Marshall) unless he quit smoking.
Fact 2. Neil Patrick Harris(Barney) made the most money per episode. $210.000 while the others made $120.000 per episode.
Fact 3. The most viewed episode is The Finale with 13.13 million viewers, second is The Pineapple Incident form season 1. The least viewed episode is Landmarks from season 6.
Fact 4. The main cast’s partners are in the show. Sandy Rivers is Lily’s real life husband, Gary Blauman is Robin’s real life husband and Scooter is Barney’s real life husband. (Yes he is homosexual).
Fact 5. Josh Radnor(Ted) is allergic to dogs.
Fact 6. Victoria(played by Ashley Williams) is the fan’s favorite (non-mother) girlfriend of Ted Mosby.

Fact 8. Neil Patrick Harris(Barney) directed 1 episode from the series (the name of the episode is Jenkins in season 5).

Fact 10. There are 16 instances where Barney is not in a suit.
Fact 11. Barney uses all his famous quotes in The Pilot (‘Suit Up’, ‘Legend-wait-for-it-dary’ and ‘Have you met Ted’).
Fact 12. A lot of famous people have cameos in HIMYM and some are regulars. (Including William Zabka, Britney Spears, Tim Gunn, Enrique Iglesias, Bryan Cranston, Jennifer Lopez and more.)

My opinion: If you love comedy series you should definitely watch HIMYM. You will laugh, you will connect with the characters you may even cry. The show has a lot of interesting pick up lines, some of them I have tried and quite few work. There are very interesting plots and cliffhangers so you won’s get bored. Also you may start using a lot of Barney’s rules and theories, like the ‘Three Days’ rule and ‘Lemon Law’.
