The sums involved and strength math behind the Q3 Training Grounds

Day 1,618, 03:10 Published in China Romania by alpho

Everybody is freaking out because of the new Q3 Training Ground upgrades. It means more income for admins but it also has an upside for the players, even the relatively poor ones.

Edit for the lazy ones : On the long run it's cheaper to train with Q3 then with Q1 or Q2 even if we consider the initial gold investment in upgrading the training grounds and the daily gold investment in training. So start upgrading!

I wont include the +5 strength bonus received once every 5 days since not all of us can achieve it every time.

Q1 Training Grounds

We start with one time investment of 600 country currency. The first training ground is given to us by admins for free. The other 3 cost 600 currency in total.

With all buildings at full capacity anyone with 3.47 gold (Free + 0.19 + 1.49 + 1.79) can receive 22.5 Strength points + 1 from Collect reward thus a total of 23.5 strength points per day.
If we consider a month to have 30 days then in 30 days we would have spent 30 x 3.47 = 104.1 gold to accumulate 30 x 23.5 = 705 strength points. That also means that if 250 strength points are required for an SS medal, we would get an SS medal at 250 / 23.5 = 10.64 days and 705 / 250 = 2.82 SS medals once every 30 days (month). In gold that means 2.82 x 5 = 14.1.
So we spend 104.1 gold so that we gain 705 strength points and 14.1 gold from SS medal. Total gold cost for a maximum of 705 strength points each month is 104.1 - 14.1 = 90 gold.

Q2 Training Grounds

We start with one time investment to upgrade Q1 training grounds to Q2 training grounds of 80 gold, 20 gold for each of the 4 types of training grounds OR if it is made during admin offers, they cost 11.2 gold each so a total of 44.8 gold. For details regarding return on initial investment check the final part of this article.

With all buildings at full capacity anyone with 3.47 gold (Free + 0.19 + 1.49 + 1.79) can receive 45 Strength points + 1 from Collect reward thus a total of 46 strength points per day.
If we consider a month to have 30 days then in 30 days we would have spent 30 x 3.47 = 104.1 gold to accumulate 30 x 46 = 1380 strength points. That also means that if 250 strength points are required for an SS medal, we would get an SS medal at 250 / 46 = 5.43 days and 1380 / 250 = 5.52 SS medals once every 30 days (month). In gold that means 5.52 x 5 = 27.6.
So we spend 104.1 gold so that we gain 1380 strength points and 27.6 gold from SS medal. Total gold cost for a maximum of 1380 strength points each month is 104.1 - 27.6 = 76.5 gold.

Q3 Training Grounds

We start with one time investment to upgrade Q2 training grounds to Q3 training grounds of 200 gold, 50 gold for each of the 4 types of training grounds OR if it is made during admin offers, they cost 28 gold each so a total of 112 gold. For details regarding return on initial investment check the final part of this article.

With all buildings at full capacity anyone with 3.47 gold (Free + 0.19 + 1.49 + 1.79) can receive 67.5 Strength points + 1 from Collect reward thus a total of 68.5 strength points per day.
If we consider a month to have 30 days then in 30 days we would have spent 30 x 3.47 = 104.1 gold to accumulate 30 x 68.5 = 2055 strength points. That also means that if 250 strength points are required for an SS medal, we would get an SS medal at 250 / 68.5 = 3.65 days and 2055 / 250 = 8.22 SS medals once every 30 days (month). In gold that means 8.22 x 5 = 41.1.
So we spend 104.1 gold so that we gain 2055 strength points and 41.1 gold from SS medal. Total gold cost for a maximum of 2055 strength points each month is 104.1 - 27.6 = 63 gold.

So to recapitulate :
Q1 - you spend 90 gold for 705 strength points each month;
Q2 - you spend 76.5 gold for 1380 strength points each month;
Q3 - you spend 63 gold for 2055 strength points each month.

In plain english terms it’s clear that Q3 full is not just more efficient in terms of gaining strength points but it is also much cheaper : ).

This means that after you made the initial required investments to build the Q3 training grounds from Q1, you’ll need, since it is a 44.8 + 112 = 146.8 gold investment if it is made when admins have offer OR 200 + 80 = 280 gold during normal period, just 63 gold per month to have full train (~2 gold per day) from sources other than SS medal to have full train. Most of us can get 1 or 2 gold per day from medals, companies, etc.

So yes, it is hard to make the initial investment... it’s a b***h, but on the long term it will mean just 2 gold/day to have full training. A normal company manager will be able to get that kind of money on a daily basis or if he has at least 1 gold/day he can do the unthinkable and buy 10 euro/pack for 32.5 gold from admins just one time each month. So you are either active and can earn 2 gold/day for full training or you’re lazy and you’re buying 10 euros worth of gold. Not my problem : )).

Return on the investment - gold

From Q1 to Q2 training grounds

Monthly training in Q1 training grounds is 90 gold and in Q2 training grounds it is 76.5 gold. So each month that’s a 90 - 76.5 = 13.5 gold saved. Since the initial investment adds up to 44.8 gold if it is made during admin offers it will take 44.8 / 13.5 = 3.32 months to have full return on the initial investment. Every day after the 3.32 months means saved gold when training. If you look on the long term it is actually a very good idea to upgrade the training grounds even in terms of gold costs and savings.

From Q1 to Q3 training grounds

Monthly training in Q1 training grounds is 90 gold and in Q3 training grounds it is 63 gold. So each month that’s a 90 - 63 = 27 gold saved. Since the initial investment adds up to 44.8 + 112 = 156.8 gold if it is made during admin offers it will take 156.8 / 27 = 5.08 months to have full return on the initial investment. Every day after the 3.32 months means saved gold when training. If you look on the long term it is actually a very good idea to upgrade the training grounds even in terms of gold costs and savings.

From Q2 to Q3 training grounds

For me it’s a different math and it applies to all major tanks. At Q2 training grounds the monthly gold cost was 76.5 gold. At Q3 it will be 63 gold. So each month that’s a 76.5 - 63 = 13.5 gold saved. The price for the upgrades was 112 gold so it will take me 112 / 13.5 = 8.3 months to have my initial investment returned.

Update : the player Woodstock Libertarian made me do a little more math. He said about upgrading only the free training ground.
It costs 0 + 11.2 + 28 = 39.2 gold to upgrade to Q3. It gives 15 strength points at Q3 so it takes 16.67 days for SS medal and it brings 30 x 15 = 450 strength points per month. Thus each month the SS medals would bring 450 / 250 * 5 = 9 gold.
Refund on investment is made in 4.36 months.
