The Last Kingdom (TV Show)

I just finished the first season and it's my show of 2015. Some initial reviews of the show put me off by comparing it to Game of Thrones and Vikings, but it has little similarities to either in terms of direction. The setting is late 9th century England and deals with the vikings but yeah that's about it.

The shows pacing makes it feel like a miniseries; the editing and hand held camera reminds me of Battlestar Galactica(thematically as well). Anyways the show is an adaption of a book series, and I enjoyed it a lot more than True Detective Season 2, and a little below The Leftovers season 2. My only complaint is that it is rushed, at 8 55-60 minute episodes and apparently it covers 2 books.

Second Season has been announced with 10 episodes this time.

agree. I just glanced some scenes and like it.
Is anybody watching Eipic on TG4? 😉 I find it somehow funny even with my bad English skill and very poor Gaeilge.

Under the Dome is great novel, but show is spoiled with politness imho. There is new series "11\22\63" by S.King and it is made in better way, i think.

i prefer reality tv. especially the stuff that covers homesteading etc.even though some of it is fake . but from the other stuff house of cards is still good oitnb and shameless also keep up good story lines. game of thrones is on the backburner
