The end of an era: The Indonesian Empire is no more

Day 797, 06:49 Published in USA Australia by Aeros

The USA has come a long way since the Indonesians were banging on the doors of our final regions last summer. Yesterday, American, Spanish and Sol Alliance forces routed the Indonesian Army in the Battle of the Northern Cape. This was the last over seas possession of Indonesia, a country that at one point controlled territory from Central Russia all the way into the heart of North America. With this defeat, the Indonesians have been reduced to their home territory and its single High resource. I think it would be fair to say now that the USA has won the war against Indonesia, and that we are not going to be hearing much from them for awhile. The loss of all their High Resource possessions will cripple the countries mass tanking strategy and make it that much more difficult for the Indonesians to try and break back out of their home territory. They were unable to defeat Malaysia several months ago when they still had all the High resources except wood. Now with Australia and South Africa supported by a list of powerful EDEN MPP’s and Indonesia's economy much weaker, it is unlikely they will be able to succeed on their own.

With the defeat of Indonesia, the focus will most likely return to Europe, where Spain has initiated an Invasion of Italy. For weeks now the Entente Alliance has been holding out in the hopes of being able to mount a counterattack against the Spanish and the Polish. For the most part, this resistance to ending the war in Western Europe has been spearheaded by France. France has been prolonging the conflict because they are unwilling to capitulate and risk losing some of their territory in a contract treaty. It appears Spain now intends to tighten the screws on the French by going all out against their Italian Allies. This is seriously bad for Italy, as they are presently lacking in many MPP’s that could potentially be used to hold off a Spanish offensive down the Italian Peninsula. No doubt the Spanish hope to put the Italians in a similar position as the French in order to improve their standings at the negotiating table. The French may be willing to play hardball when it’s just their own territory to worry about. If Spain occupies Italy, they will also have to factor in their Allies territory into the calculations of their negotiations. The French seriously need to bite the bullet and agree to some sort of settlement with the Spanish. Each time they refuse to end the war their position gets worse. First they refused when the Spanish overran the border marches, so Spain rolled all the way to Paris. Then they refused again, so Spain took over the country in its entirety. Further refusal introduced Poland who now owns the second High Wood region that France could have originally been able to keep. Now, France’s Italian Allies are going to pay the price for continued resistance. This War started in December and as we approach February, the French are no closer to winning now then they were at the start of the war. It’s time to face reality, though whether they will or not remains the million dollar question.

The other issue that EDEN is having to deal with is the ongoing war between Romania and Bulgaria. Many Romanians have been upset about the lack of the American support in this particular Front of the conflict. This can probably be summed up to poor communication between various parts of EDEN. South Africa had put itself up on the chopping block and the Indonesians forced a decisive battle in Northern Cape with the South Africans. Had that battle ended in defeat, South Africa could have been wiped out in a double invasion by the Argentineans and the Indonesians. On the flip side, if the South Africans won, Indonesia would lose its last colony and another critical High Resource region. It is clear military leaders in the USA and Spain decided that South Africa had to take priority over Sofia, especially since Sofia would not be a deciding battle anyhow, as it would not wipe Bulgaria (they have other regions) and Romania was already blocked by a Serbian counter invasion. Now that South Africa has been secured, EDEN will be able to send more troops Romania’s way, which would not have been the case if Phoenix had gotten an offensive going in the Oceanic sector. If South Africa had fallen we would most likely have had to deal with an all out invasion of Australia. We are in a war of attrition with Phoenix. While progress might seemed stalled at times, EDEN has overall been able to slowly chip away much of the Alliances strength. We just need to keep our collective mind focused two steps ahead and not get caught up in immediate problems that may seem dire at first but in the scheme of things are not as serious as we might think.

Apparently some people are still bitter over the two articles I wrote last week. Seriously, I'm done with that crap, but if you are desperate to continue flaming, at least hear what I had to say. I did a debate on the Jewitt Report Blog Radio that you can download and listen to yourself. You will even get to hear my sexy voice if that is your thing. Just download. It starts at 24 minutes and 50 seconds if you don't want to hear the whole show
