The Economist ~ War on two fronts

Day 1,693, 11:42 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Spite313

Dear friends,

When Canada declared us their natural enemy many people basically lost hope. Looking at it rationally, there was no real way to “win”. Whatever decision we made, we couldn’t come out of a two-on-one conflict on top. Simply put, we had some hard decisions to make.

After speaking with congress, with ONE and with my government, I decided that we would abandon the French front and take Canada on directly. We made this decision based on a number of tactical and strategic reasons, but also because, frankly, Canada deserved it. For the past month they’ve ignored the UK, but now when we are weakened by the French they have decided to intervene. Let’s put aside all of the petty rhetoric about “helping protect France”, who after all were rampaging through the UK and needed no help. The Canadian CP smelled blood and decided to take advantage of the opportunity.

People were upset about this.

Since the attack at approximately 1.30pm on Sunday afternoon the UK military has been in the highest state of activity in months. We’ve distributed enormous amounts of weapons, and fought hard day and night to drive Canada back into the sea. Now our troops have landed in Newfoundland and will hopefully show their President the error of his ways. This victory has been for me a huge morale boost. It’s shown us what we can do when we’re united as a country around a single goal. Yes we still lost regions, but we plucked a victory from certain defeat.

Key to this victory has been the steadfast and unyielding support of allied countries and soldiers. In their thousands men and women from around the world have flocked to the ONE banner and pushed back Canada. Whatever this war brings, we have shown them that we stand together. Troops from every ONE country have fought day and night to give us this enormous victory- at midnight the UK had won 55 points without conceding a single division of a single minibattle. Many were won 1800-0.

Canada’s CP sent me a number of messages prior to the invasion. In those messages he claimed he wasn’t elected for his “talking skills” but for his military prowess. I think the citizens of Canada should perhaps evaluate who exactly they have elected here. The war gains nothing, and was just (as I said) petty opportunism and warmongering. It broke a peace which has lasted a month to the benefit of both countries. Any invasion of Canada which comes- both from the UK and other ONE members- is purely the result of those actions. Rylde invited me (shortly after the NE) to negotiate our surrender. Of course I told him not to waste his breath. I’m not going to stoop to that level of childishness, but if he wants to talk, he knows where I am. Newfoundland 😉

To our citizens, patience. The UK faces a grave challenge, but our allies are with us. We can stand long enough to repulse the invader, and I swear that when our country is once again at peace we’ll repay our allies tenfold for their help in our time of need.

Hail ONE
Hail UK

Ps. I've never been so proud 😃

PPs. Scotland and Northern Ireland are part of Ireland as part of an agreed region swap. Please don’t start RWs in those regions or waste damage there- they will be ignored.
