The Battle for Leeds

Day 3,180, 04:40 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Max Blue

Hello all! I want to break down the Battle for Leeds (Yorkshire and Humberside), so here goes...

The Battle for Leeds (Yorkshire and Humberside)

As I have said before: the first air battle is often critical as air battles are worth 22 points. Currently the game has 3 'normal' mini-battles then an air battle. Going into the first air battle the USA and the UK had similar scores. The UK had some CO's (combat orders) at times thanks to UK MU's the Royal Navy and the Scorpions. As far as I am aware the US did not have any CO's on (let me know in the comments if I missed any). Here is a breakdown of what happened in the first air battle.

Fighters 1-10 of the first air battle.

Fighters 11-20 of the first air battle.

Fighters 21-30 of the first air battle.

Fighters 31-40 of the first air battle.

Fighters 41-50 of the first air battle.

When we breakdown the fighters in the top50 by citizenship we see that the Bulgarian air-force was probably the reason for victory in the first air battle. An awesome 14 Bulgarians made it into the top50, with 4 of them in the top10! The UK had 6 fighters in the top50, Germany had 4, Turkey 3, Spain 2, Ireland 2 and Belgium also had 2. There was also 1 fighter from each of the following nations; Ireland, Singapore, Taiwan, Hungary, Brazil, France, Croatia, South Korea, Romania, Venezuela, Japan, Poland, Thailand, Slovenia, Argentina, Ukraine, Czech Republic and Armenia. Germany had an amazing fighter who did 413,769 in damage which was almost 30 times the amount of damage the player in 10th position did, which was incredibly helpful as the US had an American and an Romanian who laid down a huge amount of damage themselves. Now onto the second air battle. This is what it looked like:

This battle took place late in the UK day so many UK fighters were online, but so to were many US fighters. This was a tough battle, with one American and one Russian fighting incredibly hard. Those fighting for the UK out damaged the US fighters one vs one in the top50. However the Americans won this air battle meaning they were still in the fight. The UK had 18 fighters in the top50, there were 4 from Serbia, 3 from Spain, 3 from Hungary, 3 from Macedonia, 2 from Ireland, 2 from Brazil, 2 from Ukraine and 1 fighter from each of these nations; Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, France, Belarus, Switzerland, Indonesia, Romania and the USA. As the battle was not over after 11 mini-battles a third air battle began...

This took place in the early hours of the UK day so very few UK players were online. Thankfully for the UK: other players were online and able to seal victory. These included in the top50; 6 players from Hungary, 5 from Serbia, 4 from Ireland, 4 from Spain, 3 from Indonesia, 3 from Poland, 2 from Turkey, 2 from the UK, 2 from Macedonia, 2 from Iran, 2 from Greece, 2 from Romania and 2 from Bulgaria. Each of the follow nations had 1 player in the top50; Chile, Taiwan, Cuba, France, the Ukraine, Croatia, Belgium, Slovenia, Canada, Belarus and Brazil.

Conclusion

CO was needed to secure victory. The UK won Division 1, 2 and 3 overall, but the US won Division 4 overall. This means without air battles it would be very close even with the UK using CO's. With air battles the UK was able to win 2 out of 3 and enough points for victory. Had the UK only won 1 of 3 air battles; it is possible the whole battle would be lost.

The final result.

Disclaimer: The victory was not just won by those that fought and fought hard in the air battles, it is just easier to break down the information in these crucial rounds (22 points per battle).
