The Art of Wellness Self-Maintenance and 24-Clicking

Day 884, 22:42 Published in Canada Canada by Buck Roger

This is the first time that my guide to wellness self-maintenance for new players is being published in my newspaper (original here) and a second time for the 24-clicker guide, now in Canada.

Please Vote. Shouts too! Pass it around globally. 🙂

New players should use their GOLD rewards to get currency on the Monetary Market for their first big purchase, a House. Until they are able to buy a House, they should be working at a Q1 company, even if the pay is lower.

Instead of attempting to maintain 100 wellness while the player has no House, you can maintain 80 wellness at less cost, by buying Q3 Food, which will restore the 2 wellness lost daily to work and training, in order to keep yourself at 80 wellness. In the very first days, while you still have over 80 wellness, you should be buying Q1 Food or Q2 Food.

The advantage of keeping at least 80 wellness is that you can still fight 5 times every day, allowing you to get 10 experience and most of the damage that you could do fighting with 100 wellness daily.

You can work at Q1 companies much longer than Land or Constructions workers, while still being paid well. You can upgrade much later, when your job skill is 5 and higher (after 86 days of playing), in order to work at higher quality companies.

No House (with Q3 Food), Q1 House (with Q2 Food), or Q2 House (with Q1 Food).

Because they need only 4 quality (combined) of House and Food in order to maintain 100 wellness, workers at Q1 companies are able to keep 100 wellness easier than anyone else when they start to do so, with a Q1 House (with Q3 Food), a Q2 House (with Q2 Food), or a Q3 House (with Q1 Food). Manufacture workers in particular should take advantage of this in order to rank up faster because you do more damage per day with higher wellness.

You will have to work at Q2 or Q3 companies sooner than anyone else in order to be paid well. Avoid Q4 companies until very high skill. Either of these strategies let you maintain 80 wellness.

Q1 House (with Q4 Food), Q2 House (with Q3 Food), or a Q3 House (with Q2 Food).

Q2 House (with Q4 Food), Q3 House (with Q3 Food), or a Q4 House (with Q2 Food).

For those who want 100 wellness daily, it is easier at a Q2 company (where the combined value of Food and House only needs to be 6) than it is at a Q3 company (where the combined value needs to be 8, which is 2 more than what you need for 80 wellness). See the chart below.

http://www.erepublik.com/images/parts/icon_skill_constructions.gif" width="32" height="32"> Constructions Workers
You should use the same advice as Land workers in order to work at a Q2 company or Q3 company that makes Houses. Eventually, in order to work at a Q4 or Q5 company, these strategies allow you to work at 80 wellness daily.

Q3 House (with Q5 Food), Q4 House (with Q4 Food), or a Q5 House (with Q3 Food).

For these two strategies, you will have to fight before you work in order to fight 5 times daily. The chart below summarizes the strategies available. Note that you add the qualities of Food and House together to get the total effectiveness of both each day.

House Quality + Food Quality Necessary Combined Value

Players are able to gift themselves through the use of an Organization, which can be made for 5 GOLD, or by donating the gifts to a friend to use on you. Notice that you can use gifts (1 wellness each) to supplement 2 quality points of House + Food if you are maintaining 100 wellness daily, while it can be more economical to use only House + Food if you are maintaining 80 wellness daily. The advantages of having 100 wellness are more damage per day in fights and more productivity per day at your job. These advantages are more worthwhile after you have played for a few months.

Graduate to Become a 2-Dozen Clicker

A nice thing about eRepublik is that one can hibernate for months in two-click mode before emerging back on the scene as a two-dozen-click player. It is all pointless, however, if all you ever do is Work and Train. How can you evolve beyond two-clicking yourself? Read on!

Yes, those numbers correspond to the twenty-four "clicks" listed below...

1 - Work / 2 - Train / 3 - All Wars / 4 - Change Location / 5 - Fight / 6 - Heal / 7 - Wiki
8 - Elections / 9 - Party / 10 - Invite Friends / 11 - Gold and Extras / 12 - Monetary Market
13 - Shout / 14 - Online Now / 15 - Add Friend / 16 - Send Message / 17 - Offer Gift / 18 - Donate
19 - All Donations / 20 - Rankings / 21 - Forum / 22 - News / 23 - Vote / 24 - Subscriptions

What you get here is a run-down of some game-mechanics options and screens available to anyone. Ready to get going? Let's start clickin'!

1 - Work
Everybody works. Not everybody does it right. For your sake and for your employer, work every day and do so (at least) above 90 Wellness. Working every day for 30 days gives you 5 GOLD from a Hard Worker medal. It also makes your boss happy, as long as you're also working at high Wellness. With low Wellness, you produce less but get paid the same. To your employer, this is the equivalent of picking his pocket, so he may look to replace you.

2 - Train
Everybody trains. Once again, doing it every day is the best way. Strength is your most important attribute. Here, we can start out with the obvious, that Alexander and Caesar are a waste of money, and that the options are free or Napoleon, since Napoleon gives extra strength fastest and at the best rate. Now, there is the question: to Lana or not to Lana? It's hard to answer for you, but if you create more GOLD with your character than you spend on Lana, at least you aren't contributing to the economic crisis. If you don't, the environmentally-sound thing to do is to use products (those things that give you wages; that someone must buy to give you those wages). Having a good House, good Food, Gifts, and Weapons all let you hit more now and hit harder now so that you do more damage (the reason you want strength) and rank up faster.

3 - All Wars
Now maybe the country you live in doesn't have wars. Maybe the country you live in has wars but it always seems to involve the Philippines attacking somebody ("war games&quot😉. Maybe you want to participate in a good Resistance War once in your eLife. Maybe you just wonder how you can tell what wars and battles are going on around the world. Well, I'll tell you how. You click on your country flag on the left, then click on the Military tab, then click on "All Wars." If your country isn't on that list often, you can...

4 - Change Location
You also should change location, of course, if the one you're in doesn't have a Q5 Hospital (nothing but "5-Stars" is acceptable when it comes to Hospitals). How do you do that? First, go to the Marketplace, change the icon to the Moving Ticket icon, and buy the first one on the marketplace. If you're very poor, you may have to save up a few days or find the appropriate relief agency in your country. Ascertain your destination region by clicking on your country's flag, changing to your destination country, and then clicking through regions for a Q5 Hospital. Once you have your ticket and know your destination, go to your Profile page and click "Change." Pick a country and then a region. (Wars can make this tricky: read How to get out from behind enemy lines for details.) When offered citizenship, be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!

5 - Fight
By now you should have found a place to live with a Hospital and a country to fight for that has some good war opportunities. (You can change this location again later, of course!) When you fight, the best thing that you can do to increase your damage is to buy Q1 Weapons. During times of peace and training wars, you should be buying Weapons with only about a third of your income (using just 1 or 2 does help you rank up) and saving the rest for that rainy day. During times of conflict in which your country or your allies need you, buy Q1 Weapons for every fight. Resist the temptation to spend all your money on very high-Quality guns, since war tends to drag on and funds get tight.

6 - Heal
This should be obvious by now. The main question is, where is that darn button? Here are three ways to find it: (1) Click on your profile, click on your region, click the Heal button. (2) Click on your country flag, click Society, click on your region, click the Heal button. (3) Click "Return to battlefield" after a fight, click "Hospital," click the Heal button. If you don't see the button next to the Hospital, there's usually 1 of 2 reasons: Either you haven't fought yet or you already used it that day.

7 - Wiki
What the Wiki lacks in depth and breadth it makes up for in authoritativeness. When it comes to the formulas and rules behind the mechanics of the game, it is always the first source to check. This is recommended reading material for any level player, but the earlier you look it over the better.

8 - Elections
Elections occur on the 5th, 15th, and 25th of every month. On the 5th the President of the country is elected from (up to) five candidates, as selected by the Party Presidents of the first five parties (by number of members) that offer different candidates. Often there are "primaries" within these parties for the candidate selection. On the 15th the Party President is elected within each party by members of that party. Note that there is no cost to enter (or barrier to leave) a party on that day. After the Party Presidents in the top five parties by population finalize the congress candidates on the 24th, people vote for Congress on the 25th. The 25th is the only election in which people have to be in a specific region to vote for candidates of that region.

9 - Party
There are at least two reasons not to join a party: you are in the military and deploy often, or you do not have citizenship in the country you live in. Otherwise, being a member of a party can be fun and rewarding. If it isn't, fire your party and find another one! There is plenty of propaganda and information in each country that can help you pick a party. After joining, however, be sure to talk to people there. Sometimes the party has a forum off-site, so find it and join it. Your Party President would be happy to answer any questions.

10 - Invite Friends
There are lots of reasons to invite friends other than the chance at 5 GOLD if they make it to level six. You also get a reason to keep yourself interested in the game in the form of socializing with your existing connections. You add to the prosperity and might of your nation by one person. And you can coordinate with each other for politics, business, or otherwise in ways that are easier to do with friends.

11 - Gold and Extras
No, I'm not telling you to spend real money on a virtual currency. You can, but that's not why this click is listed. I want to point out that you can get virtual currency through the offers at the bottom of the "Gold and Extras" page. This week I completed three offers that rewarded 25, 25, and 15 GOLD just by themselves. A word of warning: I can do this because I have a credit card and the willpower to call a toll-free number to cancel a trial on time. If you're not sure you have these things, your options for free money here become more limited. Still, read my article How I Made 7 GOLD Overnight and You Can Too about some ways to earn GOLD without offering any billing information.

12 - Monetary Market
The Monetary Market is the place in eRepublik where thousands upon thousands of GOLD and valuable currency are listed for exchange and, indeed, transferred daily. Consider this the mysterious mention from the old man in the hut: Master the monetary market, and you may generate wealth beyond your wildest imagination.

13 - Shout
This sends a twitter-style message to all the people on your friends list, the ones that show up down the right side of your home page. You can include the URL of a link directly in this message, and it will be clickable. (Article links are often long, but you can cut out the words that make up the title of the article to make them fit.) But... how can you find friends?

14 - Online Now
There are lots of ways, but here's one you may not know about. Go to your country page by clicking on the flag on the left side of the screen, and then click on the "Society" tab. Down the screen a little will be the words "Online Now" beside a smaller number and a big one. The smaller number shows people "Online Now" in your country; the other one is global. If you're feeling that mix of boredom and desperation that are the necessary prerequisites, try browsing the list of people online in your country to find some contacts.

15 - Add Friend
Purists use their friends list to organize a short list of people they are friendly with. The two-dozen-clicker uses it as both a convenient source of intel and a wonderful form of free advertising. As your friend network grows, so does the pace of shouts you receive, until eventually the whole list of shouts fills every day, and you must page through it to find old ones. Perhaps even more importantly, your shouts show up on more screens, giving you a way to influence the New World just with a few words typed and the "Shout" button pressed.

16 - Send Message
Of course it's always nice to say hello to the people you add as a friend. Make real acquiantances. Let people know who you are and make sure they know that they can contact you in the future. The hallmark of any patron is a long list of clients. This is the way that power is truly accumulate😛 not by seizing it (as if that could be done alone) but through earning it, by coming into contact with and being a friend to people.

17 - Offer Gift
Here's a "pro tip": the most cost-effective upgrade to your battle damage, after buying Q1 Weapons for every fight, is buying 10 Gifts to put in an extra fight at high Wellness (a "second fight at 100&quot😉. The easiest way to do this is with your own Organization, but you can also find a friend to gift you back or make use of a national organization that sends back gifts. Of course, a single Q1 Gift has always been a good icebreaker too.

18 - Donate
One little button that makes so much possible. Money and, more importantly, stuff can be moved between accounts with this one. Not only can you send items to other citizens, you can also send raw materials from an organization to a company anywhere in the world with the &quot😉onate Raw Materials" button on the company page. (When you do, you will probably want to use something like alexc donater with Greasemonkey for Firefox.)

19 - All Donations
One of the best-hidden links in eRepublik is found on the &quot😉onate" page itself. After clicking Donate, look to the bottom of the page for "All Donations." This shows a list of donations either "to" or "from" the account indicated. This is a handy tool for those snooping around, trying to find relationships between accounts.

20 - Rankings
This is another handy tool for the general investigator. Every person, every company, every newspaper, and so on... they're all found here, conveniently sorted by criteria such as experience level, number of employees, and number of subscribers.

21 - Forum
Among the standard jibber-jabber, you can also find forums dedicated to "open letters" (appeals to the admins that you can sign), "Contracts" (binding agreements between citizens), and trade (sale of companies, houses, and more).

22 - News
You're already here, so you're doing good already! If you have extra time, be sure to surf the "All Countries" news and also other countries of interest for the "Top Rated" articles. For countries you care about, be sure to switch to the "Latest" articles and page through the titles of everything written. This can be some of the most fun you have in eRepublik!

23 - Vote
For articles. Like, totally. Start with this one! The button's on the top left of the article. Along with voting is the comment. If you got something to say, comment it. Even if it's not in the top 20 that are visible by default, usually the author and a few other interested people will check it out.

24 - Subscriptions
The subscribe button's on the top right of the article. Whenever you want to see the latest news from your subscriptions, click the green button on the left, underneath your personal messages and alerts.

That's... NOT All, Folks!

There's so much in eRepublik that takes place outside of eRepublik that it would be amiss not to mention some it. Here are just three things to whet your curiosity.

(1) Your country has a forum. For example, the eUS has the http://eusforum.com/.
(2) Your party may also have a forum. Your military unit may have a chat. Your country may have a chat. Look into all of this! The most common place to find chatters is on IRC, an ancient protocol whose mystery is exceeded only by its power. (You may have used Mibbit.com to access IRC at some point already.)
(3) There are lots of off-site tools letting you view political, economic, military, and other data. One great example (bookmark it!) is http://ereptools.net/.

If the two-clickers are the body of any nation by sheer mass, then the two-dozen-clickers are its eyes and ears, hands and tongues, and ultimately the brains of the operation. This is for three reasons. First, and above all, the two-dozen-clicker is the influencer, the one who informs and motivates dozens of others. Secondly, the two-dozen-clicker is the administrator, the one who runs companies, armies, parties, and governments. Last, and actually least, the two-dozen-clicker simply generates more damage in battle and accumulates more wealth.

Have fun clicking! To vote is groovy; to subscribe, sublime.
