Mid – Term Congressional Report compiled by Panther

Hello there eAmericans! It’s been a while since the Congressional Paper was fired up, so we are re-igniting it with a bang. So without further ado, on behalf of the Government Oversight Subcommittee, I present to you a briefing on the 24th Congress. The briefing will have a summary of 5 key items that have been passed in the past 2 weeks, and will include a list of the voting records of the 24th Congress as well.

* For future reference, all 'lulz proposals' (made simply for XP) have been excluded from this report.
** All currency transfers to the Congressional Budget Office and issuing of US dollars were pre-approved and passed. So as to avoid redundancy, they are not listed below.

Section A – Information the 24th Congress:

Introduction of People you should know:

The Speaker of the House (Serendipitous), and the Deputy Speaker of the House (Rheinlander von Phalz), are the ones who handle things relating to the Committees, and making sure they are properly functioning.
The Congressional Whip (St Krems) and the Deputy Congressional Whip (Bradely Reala) are responsible for handling the organization of Congress, for example sending out Messages to all the Senators reminding them, and updating them on current proposals & votes and to record their recent votes in-game.
The general idea of all four of their jobs is to: keep Congress organized and on track, assign Committees, and step in during times of emergency.

~ Congressional Newspaper

Written by Panther

The Congressional Newspaper over the past couple of months has been neglected as Congress has had bigger issues to deal with. Last term, Jude Connors began the revival of the Congressional Newspaper, and it has continued into this term with the final result being the paper published for you to read.
The purpose the Congressional Paper is to give a summary of what Congress is doing, and to allow for better public disclosure and transparency.

~ Jan. – Mar. 2010 Budget
Written by Daniel Dodge

Once again, Congress has approved a budget for the eUS Government. Passed in a vote on December 5th, this budget allows for 4000 Gold to be spent a week, a little over half of it going to defense, with the rest spread between state, treasury and internal sources. This budget was prepared by sydiot
, the Chairman of the Budget and Finance committee.

~ Congressional Outreach Program

Written by Daniel Dodge

As most are well aware, citizen retention is a primary concern of most active eUS citizens and lately the eUS Congress has been taking steps to address this issue. Proposed by Congressman Emmanuel Cruise
, the Congressional Outreach Program was made a part of the eUS Code of Law early in December. To quote from the Code itself, "The Congressional Outreach Program shall assist the Mentorship Program and Welcoming Committee with new citizen retention and recruitment through Mentorship, gifting and finding new ideas and ways to increase new citizen retention and the planning of recruiting new citizens." As a part of this new effort, congressman will also be informed of the success or failure of retention efforts so that they can work to improve or fix the program if needed.
