Start A Fire

Day 3186 of the New World
August 31, 2016

Oh man, you’re gonna love this.

I’ll spend a half a minute talking about myself,
then I’ll talk about eUSA,
then I’ll talk about Pfeiffer.

First, me.

I’ve been a part of every CP cabinet reaching back as far as the eye can see.

I was there bitching up a storm at BeachBunny’s cabinet when they were all acting like juvenile delinquents.

I was there plotting and designing Resource Wars maneuvers (and you thought it was all YUI???) under Tyler Bubblar.

Wild Owl? Check.
Molly? Check.
DMJ? Check.
Oblige? Nothanks.
Deepchill? Yup.
Etc.
(About the only term I didn’t do much for was my own last term…)

And I have been quietly complaining for the last three months that there can be a lot more happening from a Presidency than what we’ve seen. A lot more...

In other words, this half a minute I’ve spent talking about myself is just to say this: I know a good CP/Cabinet/Term when I see one. A good Term can light all kinds of fires. Fire = Activity. And activity is something I'm starving for lately.

Now on to eUSA, because I'm not the only one starving for it...

eUSA is nothing like any other Nation in eRepublik. eCanada likes to think of herself as a lot like eUSA in some respects, but that is just another thing that makes eCanada such a silly place. There’s no place like home.

But what actually makes eUSA function in such a unique way has almost entirely to do with the culture created by its offsite arenas, and primarily the eUS Forums. It is on the eUS Forums that the real eUSA has matured. Take away that and eUSA becomes another farty little eNation chasing red button clicks and publishing troll articles.

But… when all of its glory is revealed, the eUS Forum transforms our second tier eNation in a shi**y browser game into a top tier entertainment factory.

When eUSA is fun, it’s usually the eUS Forum driving the bus. And the fuel is the CP/Cabinet/PDB.

The problem with our last two presidents is that they are not eUS Forum people. They both actually did an OK job as President I guess, but they failed to inspire the nation during their terms. Why? I would argue that they failed to utilize the eUS Forum to its potential.

Side note:
(There are obviously a few other good forums in eUSA. The Feds have one, EZC has one, and to a much lesser extend SFP and BSP have one. These forums, along with such social engines as BEAM and IRC also contribute to eUSA’s success. But none of them will ever be as singly responsible for raising the bar for fun like the eUS Forum.)

My point, in a nutshell: When the CP is utilizing the eUS Forum to its potential, eUSA is a lot more fun place to play eRepublik. When the CP fails to utilize the Forum, eUSA falls mostly asleep.

Now about Pfeiffer. He’s a forum master.

Yes, I know. Aramec chewed him a new a**hole this month when the current CP booted him from PDB. The CP needed to cross that off his list of accomplishments this month, so it was inevitable. Of course it shouldn’t surprise anyone that not long after Pfeiffer was booted, the PDB basically died.

What do I mean by "died"?

Perhaps the worst 3-day PDB run ever.

You see, without a scintilating voice, the entire room falls asleep.

Say whatever else you want to about Henry Pfeiffer Arundel… but you cannot possibly argue that he’s not scintilating.

Pfeiffer’s a lightening rod through and through. He pisses some people off. Honestly, the number of people he pisses off is a lot smaller than people make it out to be. A lot of folks just jump on the bandwagon despite the fact that they’ve never had the pleasure of being pissed off by Pfeiffer. But Pfeiffer will definitely piss some people off. And that’s actually a good thing. It’s a needed thing.

My goodness I’ve certainly been pissed off by Pfeiffer.

And that is honestly why I am more in support of a Pfeiffer Presidency right now than I have been for any candidate in a VERY LONG TIME.

We actually need someone exactly like Pfeiffer right now. Because another month or two of sleepy administration following these past three months of somnambulance and we might just all start pushing up daisies. WAKE UP eUSA! Don’t elect another “nice guy”. Elect someone who’s going to light some fires.

Do you get my point?

Pfeiffer is not likable. But who actually cares about that?

I don’t want a likeable CP. We’ve had too many likeable, boring, sleepy, status quo, corner-dwelling CP’s lately. We need a firebrand.

We need Pfeiffer.

Or we need Israel or Custer or Franklin friggin Stone for that matter. Just please let’s stop electing marshmallows.

IS, Custer, and FfS are not running. Pfeiffer is running.

I don’t care if you think you need to hold your nose to do it, but give the guy the big chair and then tell me 4 weeks from now if activity hasn’t gone up in eUSA. Seriously. It will.

And I’m not talking about bread and circuses either. That’s not the Pfeiffer way, though I’m sure he’ll be handing out candy on his Beam show.

No, Pfeiffer will raise the bar in eUSA by the sheer force of his controversial personality. And that is precisely what I want to see.

Let me word it one more way.

This is a social browser game. We are not deciding between Trump and Clinton with the future of the planet in the balance. We’re talking about who will be the driving force of conversation in a computer game for a few weeks. And given the choice between a “safe and friendly” candidate or a “foul-mouthed nudge”, I seriously can’t respect anyone who doesn’t see the veritable NEED for the foul-mouthed nudge.

OK, even more simply:

Pfeiffer will stir the pot. The pot desparately needs a stir.

Therefore I wholeheartedly endorse Henry Pfeiffer Arundel for CP.
I ask you to take this same argument into your own primary system and vote for him there.
I ask you to vote for him on the 5th.

Now go listen to that awesome Tom Waits song, “Little Drop of Poison” again.
